«Hottest day in May on record and the heating was on in my room. After speaking with staff three times and an hour and a half later, I was moved to another room. In spite of the wonderful advert featuring a restaurant I was told no kitchen tonight. Second room was very noisy overlooking the car park which doubles as a camping ground for motor homes, with ten present. No mattress cover and a very dirty mattress. Black mould on the bathroom ceiling which had been painted over but still showed ...

«The breakfast was excellent the staff went out if their way to ensure I had everything I needed. The poached eggs were cooked to perfection and the staff even though were run off their feet found time to chat and engage with all customers at breakfast.»

«Booked as we had an early flight from East Midlands airport. Owner met us soon after we arrived. Nice room, great comfy bed, very good shower. Advised there was a good restaurant just down the road (15 min walk) which we visited and had a very tasty meal. Left in the morning too early for breakfast, but not host’s fault. Very good nights sleep. Plenty of parking. Road to airport a bit narrow and windy, but we made it in plenty of time. Would recommend.»

«I’m loathed to give a bad review, but we stayed during hot weather and the room was unbearable, at least 35C for the whole night. The top of the sash window was painted shut and the bottom only opened 2inches because of the safety latch. It’s a shame because the pub was nice, lovely old building, easy parking, the bar was good and the staff were great. The room was clean modernised and comfortable, the fan could have done with a clean to work better. We left at 5am to escape the heat so can’t ...

«We stayed two nights for a reunion of friends who graduated from university 50 years ago. The hotel is a traditional pub with four small but comfortable bedrooms and a terrific location with wonderful views across the Peak District.
