Can't grumble for what we paid clean but People banging doors selfiahly ruined our stay a bit...but that's just people in general no days lovley village lots of pubs to have a beer would stay again

You know where you are with YHA, Basic, clean, quite often a bar, bring your own towel & clean up after yourself when you use the kitchen.

Overall, excellent value for money. Shame about the safety night light that had to remain on all night. Is that necessary in a private room?

Noisy - terrible sleep
The hostel itself was good, can't complain as exceptions were met. No frills, clean, friendly. However terrible night's sleep as it was very loud due to constant foot traffic of people using the toilet/ shower. Doors slamming and squeaking door handles. Would benefit from some sound proofing measures, soft closure doors and WD-40 on handles/ locks. I know you can't control guest behavior but the building itself is not set up from the amount of foot traffic created from shared facilities. Bring earplugs. Would not stay again.

I loved the lady at checkin! She was so friendly. I didn’t grab her name but do know we share the same year of birth being 1976. Ive never been to any place where the staff are this nice! Keep it up!

Its a YHA so no frills.
Stayed overnight on a tandem Lands End to John O Groats ride. Room was clean enough but facilities very limited. No towels in room (hire for extra cost). Noisy with other guests upstairs. No food available. Expensive for a bed only but staff very friendly and helpful. Good selection of places to eat nearby.

Bike riding in the Mendips
Easy stopover as I was writing around the Mendips on my bike. Free car parking easy walk to town couldn’t ask for more. They also have a free bike lock up if you are just rude there

Staff rather poor when faced with an enquiry about a refund for a bed night not used.

Thanks for taking the time to review. Unfortunately as per the terms and conditions of your booking you cannot cancel part of a reservation and receive a refund. The rooms are structured in such a way as to be accessible to all for example; wheelchair users, so some rooms are on the ground floor. This means there may be others around or passing through nearby but the Hostel has to be accessible 24 hours a day to guests. We think that the friendly, open and self serving nature of the Hostel adds to it's character and appeals to people who want to explore the area, who can come and go as they please and can socialise with their fellow guests. Although we do expect noise to be kept to a minimum after 11pm, for that we apologise. We hope this experience hasn't deterred you from Hostelling in the future.

Convenient, quiet hostel.
Clean, perfectly positioned hostel to explore surrounding area. Rear views over Mendips. Garden and storage available for bikes. Light and airy dining room extension. Packed lunches available. Would recommend and hopefully will revisit when next in the area.

Typically Youth Hostel rooms are small but practical as are the other facilities. It is true that the staff are asked to clean rooms from 10am, as this is the check out time and never before that. If you felt unwelcome then I apologise as I'm sure the staff didn't intend this as they were just trying to do their job.

this was convenient to stay since start of all organised walks were from the school next door. Although a 'twin room' was booked, would have preferred 2 beds, and not a bunkbed; however only 2 night break so ok. Thought the communal area was quite small,especially if a lot of families with children staying, it became quite crowded

The sash windows are restricted for health and safety reasons, to my knowledge they all work fine. If you ever have any problems please make the staff aware and they will assist you. We do have double beds available but most rooms will have bunk beds, as is the YHA standard. Thanks for reviewing.

Noisy .I had forgotten why I stopped using hostels
Even though I booked well in advance and there was a staff member on the premises I was not allowed in until 5pm , which was a bit late when I had driven for several hours . The room was clean and ok but the walls very thin and a loud male guest was f-ing and blinding on the phone for ages and slamming around . Also , unfortunately ,it was a windy day and most of the bedroom doors rattled very noisily in their frames all night . I could even hear that with earplugs in ! Please do something about the rattling ie stick some of that foam door insulation around the frame to tighten it up . It`s awful and I didn`t get much sleep .

To expensive
I understand that it is a hostel but i found that the room was very old and shabby looking, the bed was far to short in length and the quilt was so small we had to use too just to cover us. I also for that for the price we paid £99 for two nights including breakfast was far to expensive and we could of found a proper hotel for just the same price if not less , i was very disappointed with this accommodation.
