The building was inaugurated by Kaiser Wilhelm in 1907 as housing for high-ranking officials during the construction of the canal. The apartments have been extensively renovated. The apartment is very centrally located. There are grocery stores and various shops nearby. Many restaurants and bars are also within walking distance.

We highly recommend the restaurant “Outer Roads” at the “River Loft” hotel, located 500 meters away. The ferry to the south side of Brunsbüttel is just a few minutes’ walk away. The Brunsbüttel industrial area is located on the south side. This is the largest contiguous industrial area in northern Germany.

Brunsbüttel is located at the western end of the Kiel Canal. This man-made waterway is one of the busiest in the world. Nowhere else can you get as close to the big ships as here. Brunsbüttel is divided by the canal. The ferry service connecting the two parts of town is free and runs every 10 minutes. The crossing is an experience for every visitor. The people of Brunsbüttel are typically reserved, but always up for a chat. Brunsbüttel has a lot to offer tourists. Numerous biking and hiking trails stretch across the Geest and the Marsch. Four international biking routes converge in Brunsbüttel. The bike paths are well-developed and clearly marked. The locks and the Lock Museum are worth seeing; when you visit the museum, you can walk along the platform—right next to the large ships—and look into the lock chambers. At the tourist office, located right next to the Lock Museum, you’ll find plenty of ideas for leisure activities.
