The room and en-suite were clean, the bed was ginormous and comfy, we both had a great night sleep. They even provided extra toiletries which were a god send. We had a great choice of hot beverages and had a kettle and a coffee maker in the room. The room was more than spacious for the two of us and our dog. The owners were superb, just a lovely stay all together. We stayed for 2 nights

The whole property was tired and dirty. At the top of the stairs was a pile of dirty bed linen and bath towels throughout the day, the milk for breakfast/coffee was a 2 litre carton in a refrigerator balanced precariously on a small table on the landing. one of the two single beds in the room had a plywood board under the mattress presumably because the bed was broken, decided not to have a shower. This is an old building and I appreciate the rising costs today make running a hotel difficult, but there are simple things that can be done to improve the guests experience.

Hi Rita, we are sorry you didn't like the way we offer our fresh milk, we understand the laundry was due to be collected from an outside company but we have spoken to them about the issue. Should you of had any issues it is always best to speak to us rather than leave a damaging review. The rates for our PUB with rooms is 66.12 for two people with alot of free extras. We are sorry it fell below your high standards.

Horrendous smell of sewage through out the rooms and a dirty shared toilet. A let down as you can see the cleaners add a nice touch trying to make the room feel personal with filter coffee and snacks.

Hi Alice, we are very sorry to hear this. Its a shame you didn't speak to a member of the team. The toilet is shared between two rooms and is cleaned twice daily, if we had known it was dirty from a previous guest we would of had it cleaned again. The room shouldn't smell of anything, again this would of been better to of spoken to us during you visit so we could of looked in to any issues for you.

Amazing little place, a gem of a find
This little place was amazong, the room had more facilities than i've had in any hotel room ive ever stayed at, the bed was very comfortable and came with an electric blanket for extra heat during this time of year. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, the hotel also has it's own bar and restaurant, the restaurant was fantastic, the food was really good and at a very affordable price.

Avoid Avoid Avoid!!!!!!!! Unless you dont like sleeping. Tried to stay here before christmas and unfortunatley had to leave the hotel a few hours into our stay. In general it was ok at best but the noise that is generated from the pub below is unbearable especially if there is a band / karaoke going on. It was so loud that the whole room was shaking and you were unable to hear the tv even at full volume. We had no warning that this was the case with these rooms not even at check in was it mentioned. In later emails i was told its all over there social media, im assuming that they have live bands on but surely this level of disruption should be clear to the customer when purchasing the rooms. We had to leave at 10.30pm and drive home as sleep was impossible. Tried to get a refund or even a goodwill gesture as this clearly isnt advertised anywhere on expedia or on the room discriptions but have been met with total unprofessionalism from both the hotel and expedia. How anyone can think this level of noise is acceptable when people book a room to sleep in is beyond me. The easiest thing to do when they have these events on is not book the rooms out and then the problem is solved. I would also avoid expedia who are totally useless. There is no protection for the customer and the customer service is dreadful. Luckily i didnt pay a huge amount for this room £80 but others may not be so lucky.

A real gem!
I missed check in by 5 hours as I arrived at 3am! I was welcomed warmly and shown to my room despite the time. The room was great, so warm and comfy and the in room cereals and snacks were fantastic, and the bathroom had everything you could possibly need in - chain hotels should take note!

Very scruffy and smelled of damp, loud christmas parties went on toll past midnight. For the price it was terrible but the staff were all wonderful

Hi Mary, did you not know you had booked a pub near Christmas? We can't apologize for being busy with parties as that is the main reason we are still in business today. You room was just 165.32 for two nights on a Saturday night located between both Bath & Bristol. You also failed to mention anything to the team while you were here, that's a little sad really as you clearly spoke to the team. Regards,

I would expect en-suite facilities for the price (significant increase since last year). Evening meal was good value and promptly served. Breakfast facilities in the room suited my early start. Better than breakfast in the foyer last year.

Hi Tony the room was only 60.04? This is great value for money especially in our area. We do have other rooms available that are en-suite priced from 69, yours was a budget room that had a shared bathroom. Regards, David

I feel like the property was making an effort but it just wasn’t the right property for us and I feel I could have made that decision better if not mislead by the online advertising. Firstly, I don’t think “free parking” should be advertised just when they mean you may be able to find a parking spot on the side of the main road (by parking halfway up the sidewalk in front of garbage bins) in front of the hotel late at night after enough other people have gone home. It was my fault to be naive enough to book a Friday night at a hotel that has a live band performing until 1145pm, but it meant difficulty getting to sleep earlier. Also the bathroom didn’t have central plumbing, so the toilet was very noisy and we avoided having a shower. The room was also a bit difficult to access with several doors and stairs making it particularly hard with large staircases. There were no staff in the morning, leaving us uncertain what to do with checkout. On the positive side, the local cover band and happy crowd we listened to until 1145pm was a lot of fun (a nice pub to visit if not staying the night), the room well heated and the beds were comfortable.

Hi Matthew. You had free parking, however for 2 you could of stayed in the car park. We are not a hotel, we are a pub with rooms that does have entertainment for the festive period. All our rooms have central heating, our pub is over 300 years old so the toilets are all electronic, I don't understand how this could be an issue? The stairs are the same age as the building, if you struggle with stairs a call before booking is probably advised. We are glad you like the beds and the bar

Good value, everything adequate
Welcome was ok, room was ok, bed largely comfy, shared toilet and bathroom ok, though across the landing to get to them. Breakfast was basic but ok for the cost of the room.

Let me start off saying the staff is great. They were curious, kind, and as helpful as they could be. The unmentioned shared bathroom, inoperative WiFi the staff didn't know how to fix, and fleas where not great. I've done shared bathrooms and even shared rooms, so it's not that it has a shared bathroom. Willfully withholding information on Expedia is what is so disappointing. I chose this lodging over another because the other had a shared bathroom! I ended up paying more and traveling further away to stay here. The property is for sale, so I doubt it will get any better.

We didn't withhold any information, you just didn't read clearly what you had booked. You booked us, there for the location was stated, we didn't move the pub to annoy you to make it further than you wanted to be. We don't have any fleas in pub so I am not sure what you are referring too. I would strongly suggest before booking anywhere you read the room descriptions

Its a little unfair to mark us low because you were to stupid to read the description on a rooms. YOU booked a budget twin room with shared bathroom, road facing. THAT IS WHAT YOU GOT.

The Crown is firmly at the budget end of the accommodation market, but if you're looking for good value you won't be disappointed. My (single) room was clean and comfortable, with decent furniture, including a wash-basin coffee-maker and a quality telly. Being at the front of the building there was some light traffic noise, but the glazing reduced this to a faint swish. Bathroom/WC are shared (as you'd expect at this price point) but were clean and decent. The pub itself is pleasant enough, with a well-stocked bar and a decent choice of food - my steak was just right and the passing plate of fish & chips looked pretty good too. The continental breakfast in-room was somewhat light so a mid-morning top-up will likely be needed. Service was friendly and helpful. Only minor grumble is that I wasn't warned on arrival that the kitchen was about to close, and options in Keynsham reduce rapidly after 9, but I found a curry-house! Yes, I'd stay here again.

Very comfortable. Will come again.
We arrived at night near closing time. Stan was very helpful both on the phone and in person. Easy access and room keycard entry. We had an excellent night rest after a long day (kids slept great). Comfortable beds 1 double 2 singles. We liked the complimentary snack/brekkie items. The place met our expectations for cleanliness. Thank you very much to your team.

Nice place, very old. Bad breakfast.
Quirky pub next to Rugby club in Keynsham. The building is over 300 years old so some rooms do not have mains plumbing (we were in Room 2, the quad room) and have saniflows. This isn’t too bad but does mean the bathrooms smells (we didn’t use it for anything that might smell). The shower cubicle is tiny and shower very weak. But otherwise the room was good. Bed was huge and comfortable, room clean with nice pillows and a wireless phone charger. One point to beware of the Breakfast. During booking on hotels.com, I was offered breakfast for two at a cost of £12. Which I took as it seemed a good deal and I often find pub breakfasts to be good. When we checked in, we were advised that everything we need for breakfast is in our room…individual cornflakes, sealed croissants and jam etc. I was disappointed as this isn’t clear on booking. In addition, signage at the hotel said breakfast was £5 each, not 6. We didn’t eat here but did have a couple of beers before going out out. Staff were very friendly but the pub is tiny so I could see it getting crowded later on at night. Overall a nice place but don’t expect premier inn style rooms, it’s quite dar away from that standard. I would expect a little more for £120 a night (noting we had the biggest room).
