We liked the restaurant and food and the staff were helpful, knowledgeable about food on the menu and friendly. The reception staff were helpful and friendly too. The hotel was convenient to shops and transport and only 15-20 mins walk to the Bristol Royal Infirmary hospital.

Beautiful older style hotel in Bristol. Not too close to the main activities and tourist attractions, and better for that. The man who booked me in was efficient but not overly friendly. Breakfast was excellent with variety and choice aplenty. I didn't eat in the evening because there was no atmosphere.

I honestly very rarely leave reviews online for things but we had such a lovely stay at the grand hotel in Bristol that I felt I should. The most wonderful room, attentive staff, (admittedly we didn’t try the food), but a lovely location. Thanks so much for having us!

This hotel was incredibly noisy. We were woken up throughout the night with other guests talking and moving around. There was a generator sound outside the hotel all night. The breakfast was completely overpriced at £17 pp - no where near value for money. Wouldn’t stay again.

The staff were great... The chap who checked us in was great,very professional and helpful and engaging. The lady working behind the bar on Sunday evening was also very friendly and helpful. Only negative is the toilet paper! It was very cheap and obviously so! An extra 20p spent on a roll of better quality toilet paper would be well spent for the overall standard of the hotel

Over priced and underwhelming
Over priced for what it is... Spent less on much better hotels. Beds are awful, so uncomfortable, and gives terrific backache, room tiny and felt enclosed in. Only 2 tea bags per day, no biscuit, rooms cold. Cheap toilet paper, Woken up early each morning with house keeping banging doors and shouting up the corridor to one another... The whole stay felt very in personal, hardly see staff etc.. Only good point was great location.

The building is quite old and a bit tired in places but it has character and is conveniently located in the city centre. The room was basic but clean, with everything we needed, but was not luxurious and was dimly lit. My matress was not that comfortable. It was however good value and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Loud noise from disco directly below despite my asking for a quiet room. Impossible to sleep. Also sink doesnt drain, radiator and light broken. I wouldnt mind but for 160 pounds for 1 person, not inc breakfast, its poor.

The rooms were far too cold. A major party was happening on the Saturday I stayed here (was not informed about this) meaning lots of non-residents milling around Reception in the evening, with the main door wide open letting in cigarette smoke and cold in the winter. Poor!

Excellent place to stay. Staff were extremely welcome and nothing was too much trouble. A short walk to the train station which is really useful. Some nice shops and restaurants nearby too. Ideal to stay if heading too/ from Calais and a night stay needed.

Friendly staff, quick check in. Very comfortable bed. Room was fine. The wall was a bit thin as we could hear next door quite clearly at times. Toilet a bit close to the sink but otherwise a fine bathroom.

Not very grand
Not the best stay I have to say. There's obviously been a refurbishment which looks great but they haven't bothered to replace the carpets so while the room was nice and fresh, the carpets were stained and just let the room down. Acoustics are awful too. Noise from the corridor really travels to the room and we heard every footfall coming from the room upstairs. The car park is handy, but very, very tight - it's not for the faint hearted if you have a big car.

Overall, it was a satisfactory experience with some notable highlights and areas for improvement. Pros: Convenient Location: The hotel's location was a major plus, as it was within walking distance to Bristol City Centre. This made exploring the city and accessing various attractions incredibly convenient. Welcoming Atmosphere at the Hotel Bar: I enjoyed spending time at the hotel bar, which had a good selection of beverages at reasonable prices. The staff were attentive and added to the positive atmosphere, making it a pleasant place to unwind after a day of exploring. Quiet and Comfortable Room: The room I stayed in was quiet and provided a comfortable environment, allowing for a restful night's sleep. This was especially appreciated after a day of sightseeing and activities. Cons: Room Neglect: Unfortunately, the overall experience was slightly marred by the condition of the room. Upon arrival, I noticed some areas that seemed neglected. The carpet under the window was wet from condensation, giving an initial impression of dampness. Additionally, the shower screen was coming away from its ceiling bracket, and the access panel for plumbing under the sink was left open. This resulted in a noticeable drain smell that permeated the room. While the hotel offered a generally positive experience with its convenient location, friendly staff, and inviting bar, the room's condition was a let-down. Attention to these areas would improve the guest experience.
