«Lovely traditional Lakes coach inn in great setting close to Bassenthwaite although no view of the lake itself. Service was a bit archaic but I’m putting this down to because it felt like everyone was new? The original historic snug bar is the best feature within but it is clear they are more focused on servicing the relatively new restaurant bar area. Free parking and WiFi. Cooked breakfast was fantastic as was dinner … but … why oh why would you feature Nothumbrian sourced ingredients in the ...

«I've stayed at the Trout a number of times, it is a pretty, well maintained hotel with lots of character and ideally placed to explore Cockermouth, the Western Lakes and the national park. The food is good and the staff are professional and very friendly.»

«My wife and I had a fabulous 2 night stay. Our room was lovely, staff were very helpful and friendly and the food was first class. The bar was a lovely place to relax after a long day walking. We would definitely return for another visit. I have only one observation to feedback, and its minor. The decor in our bathroom was tired and needs looking at. The bathroom was clean and tidy, but paint work and fixtures were beginning to show their age.»

«Beautiful hotel although it feels more like a home than a hotel. Very friendly staff who couldn’t do enough for you. Every room beautifully decorated. Bedroom suites are large and comfortable. 3 restaurants to choose from all excellent. Our stay was during»

«Excellent communication from staff and really helpful and friendly»

«We have stayed here three times now & love the friendly homely atmosphere. The apartment is perfect for me & my son and he loves the swimming pool! The gym has plenty of equipment & my treadmill faces a field of cows & the odd pig which was lovely! Will definitely be staying again»

«Stayed five times, excellent hotel fro a short break away .»

«The only positive from our stay, if it didn’t Happen, would have actually been a blessing . The front desk agreed to help us check in later than possible by leaving key in lockbox. Unfortunately, same desk clerk told us hotel was in Dumfries which has a road with a similar which led u s to council housing at midnight. Once we discovered the error we have another 1 hour 15 minute ride to “hotel”. Upon arriving, key was in lockbox, room was large but beds were from the 19th century, incredibly ...

«My wife and I had a great stay at this property for a 4-day visit to the Lake District and could not have been happier. It's located on a quiet street of homes and guest houses, but is a short walk to the center of Keswick as well as my new favorite movie theater, the Alhambra Cinema, and our now-beloved local, the Dog & Gun Pub. It's also walkable to hikes at Skiddaw and Catbells. Our room on the first floor was spacious and comfortable with a nice bed for sleeping after an active day. Our ...

«Booked a double room but got a room with 3 single beds. Not the end of the world but not what I booked. Beds were uncomfortable. Mattress was really thin, when you sat on it you were basically sat on the bed base and when you laid on the bed you could feel the springs in your back and side. The walls were wafer thin, you can hear the tap running and toilet etc from the room next door. Also the water in the bathroom made a right racket when you ran the tap, shower or flushed the toilet. Had an ...
