lobby and bar area were very clean and modern. Room area is loud I could here the person in the other room having a normal conversation. Sewer gas smell in the bathroom. mentioned it to the front desk and they told me that was normal for first floor rooms.

So checked in was all ok but struggling to sleep with the M6 next to me then at 02:20 a staff member tried to get into my room several times which woke me up as i had the chain on door so that was scary to be woken up to see a policemen standing there with staff then to tell me they got the wrong room. I want refund as cannot get back to sleep and im up at 7am to drive. This is not acceptable! The food, diner menu was very limited so i ended going to the THE VILLAGE Hotel over the road to get a decent meal. Worst experience I've had. Will be speaking to management in morning.

A short (one-night) stay
Overall, it was a good experience. We were only staying for one night, a short stopover, on our way down south. The vegan sausage was not very good at all; chewy, with very little taste, to be honest. The hotel can add hash browns & mushrooms, to create a balance in vegetarian options…

Never seen such miserable people in my life. Room cleaner face on in the morning - can’t even say Good morning same goes to reception staff all day. Room’s definitely dusty - otherwise good. Choose at breakfast is poor compared to other Holiday In Expresses. They could go and observe other settings.

Our room was downgraded!
Booked this stay for me and my partner. We booked a standard room (with one bed) only to find when we arrived at the property that we had been downgraded to a twin room (two single beds) because the Holiday Inn Head Office Christmas party was staying in the hotel and had taken all of the other double bedrooms! We were also told we shouldn't push the beds together so we spent the night in our own single bed. Mortifying.

Our team works very hard to ensure that every guest has an amazing stay, and unfortunately, we have fallen sort of off on this occasion.In regards to your booking, I believe there was a lot of miscommunication from the receptionist. After reviewing your reservation, I can see that you had booked a standard room, which would mean that any room preference would be subject to availability. On the day of your arrival, we were fully booked for double rooms, which resulted in your room being a twin.I hope this has shed some light on the situation, and if you ever book with us again, please call the hotel directly to request a room.

Van Broken into!
Whilst staying for a business trip our van was broken into. Staff were aware this is happening regularly and parked us in the exact space for this to happen! No signage up as a warning and not very helpful following this!

On arrival the staff were nice. When we got to our room and unpacked the second bed wasn’t made. We then on our way out to tea asked for the sofa bed to be made but they couldn’t do it so we had to go back to our room and pack our stuff and move to a twin room. When the second bed is up you are unable to use the table and the chair as there isn’t any room which is a pain as you have to then sit on the bed which was very uncomfortable and one of the worst hotel beds I’ve ever slept in. The staff were polite and friendly. Cleaning team very approachable and accommodating.

Can’t complain, get what you pay for
The room was fine, exactly what we expected and had everything we needed. Weirdly soundproof from the outside as the motorway was next to us, but not as soundproof from the inside as you could hear the kids in the room above us running around constantly - something to think about if you’re a light sleeper. Location was perfect, right on the motorway junction, made everything accessible and there was another hotel close by with a great bar for sports. Breakfast was “included” but it’s probably one of the worst breakfast experiences I’ve had at any hotel. Firstly there was literally not 1 seat available when we turned up, then when we eventually got seated, the food felt like it had been out all morning. Bland and rubbery. Realistically they need some sort of timetable, where people book a time for breakfast using their room numbers. You can’t have a breakfast area that is a free for all and doesn’t cater for the size of the hotel. This would also make it easier to plan the amount of food needed at certain times so the quality can be a little better.
