«This unit provided what we needed. Bed, bath, kitchen, laundry and living room. It’s quite comfortable. For us it was the perfect place to stay while touring this side of Newfoundland. It is a basement apartment so not the best if mobility issues are a concern as there are outside stairs to get to the unit. »

«The property is just as advertised. It was exceptionally clean and well equipped. The manager was very quick to respond in a professional manner. The location was very central. There are lots of hills to enjoy while walking the neighbourhood. The only negative that we had was the ceiling height of the hallway to the bathroom. It was very low. Perhaps this is a common thing to expect with a very old character home. We loved our stay. »

"Breakfast was excellent with individually cooked meals. Also had dinner at the bistro twice and was quite satisfied with the positive service by the staff and simple but well-cooked meals. Daily cleaning was substandard for a spa hotel like the Monastry, and I basically had to ask for a change of towels and for the emptying of the trash bins. It was also a bit strange when leaving the hotel at 6:30 am, as the reception was not staffed (and it should have been). It would have been convenient to have someone order a taxi to the airport and let you out. Then again, St. Johns is frontier territory, people are laid back and very polite to visitors, so I take the few nuisances as part of the pioneering spirit of the place. I would stay at the Monastery again."
