  • The Bothy, et ekstremt velutstyrt feriehus med selvhusholdning, ligger i Marwood, som er en liten klynge av fredede gårdshus og fjøs omtrent en kilometer fra den historiske byen Barnard Castle i County Durham og i den østlige enden av Teesdale.

    Opprinnelig bygget i 1810, ble Bothy omgjort til en liten, men komfortabel enebolig for opptil fire personer. Hytta har parkering utenfor veien for en eller to biler, bruk av den store hagen og en veloppdragen hund velkommen etter avtale (vennligst nevn ved henvendelse).

    Innkvarteringen er basert på en åpen salong og kjøkken i overetasjen med innvendig eksponert steinmur og åpne sperrer. De to soverommene, en dobbeltseng og en tvilling ligger i underetasjen sammen med bad av høy kvalitet.

    Hytta er godt isolert med moderne raskt kontrollert elektrisk oppvarming og strøm er inkludert i prisen. Alt sengetøy og håndkle er inkludert.

    WiFi er tilgjengelig ovenpå og i dobbelt soverom. Dekningen på mobiltelefoner er generelt god, og det er en TV / DVD-spiller.

    Gjestene er veldig velkomne til å bruke hagen, som hovedsakelig er et stort plenområde med et lite tjern.

The bothy was perfect for what we needed, 5 miles from town and easy to access everywhere else. Comfortable beds, clean and had supplies like tea, coffee, bits and pieces you'd normally not be supplied with. Easy access and a really lovely stay

The property is a good base for exploring the local area, with the convenience of on-site parking.It's well located just outside Barnard Castle, making it easy to visit The Bowes Museum and Raby Castle. It's also within driving distance of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the North Pennines National Landscape, the Lake District National Park, York, Harrogate, and Low Force Waterfall.Lidl, Morrisons, petrol stations, and a selection of places to eat are all within around a 10–15 minute drive, making it easy to pick up supplies. There's also a Marks & Spencer Food within driving distance if you prefer.The surrounding countryside is peaceful, with fields of sheep and lambs nearby. The garden was a nice place to sit, with a bench, a small pond, and a lilac tree, and it was a pleasant spot to relax after a day out exploring.

Cottage was lovely, clean and had everything we needed, the only thing we found was the double bed was too small for us, didnt have a great sleep, so moved into the other room the 2nd night. Location was good, 20 mins walk to nearest pub.

It was a last minute plan to visit the Barnard Castle area for the weekend and we were pleased to find the Bothy available. The location is ideal being just outside Barnard Castle and it was easy to find using the directions provided by the host. It is a lovely rural location with views of farmland so it was nice and quiet. The Bothy was very clean and welcoming with personal touches like a welcome pack (I love the ginger biscuits!) and blankets if it gets chilly in the evenings. Having said that we didn't need them as the owner had set the heating and we didn't need to touch it. I think this is the first time staying in a house with the living room upstairs and we really liked it having the views of the farmland etc. The Bothy is adjacent to the owners property so it was nice knowing they were on hand if we had any problems. Having said that we didn't see anyone during our brief stay as we were out most of the time. The shared outside space at the Bothy is well cared for and very inviting to sit out or exercise dogs etc. It has been some years since we last visited this area and our weekend stay reminded us how much we love it. We would certainly recommend the Bothy to anyone planning to visit this area.

Words can't express how we enjoyed our stay in this property, the views were really good even though it was farmland. The property it's self was very clean and organised. I would certainly book this accommodation again.

Lovely Cottage

We had a lovely stay at the Bothy, it was spotless and had everything we needed, full of character with the bonus of a lovely big garden with beautiful views of the countryside, it was so relaxing. Lovely walk into Barnard Castle, would highly recommend and will definitely be returning in the near future.

Can't wait to return

This is a gorgeous little property. We met Diane as we arrived, she was so lovely and accommodating (nice little touch was the biscuits and doggy treats. The bedrooms were warm and comfortable, the kitchen/living area was small but well equipped (no cooking on holiday!). We will certainly go back to The Bothy next time we are in the area.

The accommodation is a 5 minute drive out of Barnard Castle where there are plenty of options for a bite to eat plus essential shopping. Everything worked properly and was clean and smart. The bed was comfortable.
