Having been responsible for making a mistake on the booking date as I wasn’t cancelling but changing I found them very inflexible as did Experian as they weren’t getting good communications either. It’s a pub not a hotel. The accommodation was good except a bad smell from the bathroom where there was no fan, and no bath mat. Duvet on bed no problem but no spare blanket in case needed. Not for the unfit as it’s up four sets of stairs and if pub is locked, up a fire escape at the back of the building. Dining room not in use nor lounge just seating in bar kitchen door left permanently open, never saw anyone cooking but don’t want to see in, doesn’t portray a nice ambience. Never anyone to speak to out of pub hours no contact details in case you had a question, a bit laid back. If they served breakfast and had a cosy area to sit it would have potential.

Great inn option. Friendly staff and clean accommodation. Only comment was that it is a shame they were not offering breakfast when we stayed.

A lovely overnight stay.
Lovely old coaching inn, tasteful decor. Large bedroom & bathroom. Delicious food in the restaurant. Very helpful & efficient staff. In the centre of Alnwick so convenient for a visit.

We booked this hotel as it was very close to Alnwick Gardens where we were attending a wedding. We were advised when we booked that the room was a small double with en-suite., but it was more than adequate for a one night stay. Staff were extremely friendly, breakfast was lovely and would definitely stay here again

Very friendly, helpful staff. Bed very comfortable, clean room . Great food ! My only negative is the poor internet connection , which has been mentioned on previous reviews but has not been addressed.

Over-priced. We stayed another night in a different pub just outside Alnwick for half the price, with breakfast included, and it was much better. You’re paying for the location, but for the sake of driving ten minutes out of town it isn’t worth it. The room was big, but the bathroom was very dated, and the bar area etc felt quite tacky. Also the staff weren’t particularly friendly or engaged - there was definitely a ‘doing the bare minimum’ attitude. When we checked in the girl asked if we were eating that evening, and when we said we weren’t sure, she assured us that they would keep a table for us. What she didn’t mention is that everything in Alnwick is closed on a Monday. When we arrived back at the hotel at 10 past 8, having failed to find any food, we were told that the kitchen had stopped serving food. No apologies or attempts to come up with a solution. So we ended up having takeaway chips on a bench outside. When we checked out the manager apologised and offered us a discount. But don’t think we’ll be staying there again!

Very comfortable room in a great location. Staff were very accommodating with my pretty late check-in time. The car park is behind the hotel is a tight squeeze for larger cars.

Comfortable stay In Alnwick centre
The Plough is just outside Alnwick Centre and very convenient for the town but also hitting the road to go elsewhere. The room I was in was comfortable and service was great. The room itself was very small but contained everything I needed. Including breakfast might be good but this might have been the result of fierce competition in Alnwick for accommodation in the week I stayed.

The restaurant is absolutely incredible, I’d genuinely go back for the food alone. The rooms are really stylish and comfy and I think this place is an absolute bargain. I would recommend to all my friends.

So lucky with the weather through the day but it rained at night!! The staff were lovely. We had a little issue with the sky light when we returned to the hotel the rain had came in onto the bedding. All the girls quickly got this sorted for us and where so lovely.

Room was roasting. Downstairs was like a youth club at night, really loud. Staff were the average age of 18 doing 12 hour shifts. Cheap labour. Won’t be staying again. Oh and a member of staff walked in our room at 8:30am and saw my girlfriends bare bottom as we were rudely awoken! Before they ran off in shock we were in there!

For the price, I felt a little underwhelmed at this place. The room is nice enough, but they put us in the wrong one at first. The shower is VERY noisy and not very warm, the bath was a bit grubby, the toilet was also noisy when it flushes. I couldn't get BBC channels on the television, you have to use a dark external staircase after 11pm and breakfast isn't included, which for £150 a night, I would have expected.

Disappointing.
I would highlight the lovely staff and great breakfast service.Unfortunately though we found the bed to be extremely uncomfortable and even though we reported our issue and duvets were put on the mattress under the bottom sheet, my back suffered and not much sleep was had.The shower also had areas of mildew and from time to time there was an unpleasant smell in there.The hotel also needs to look at the carpet from the ground floor up past the kitchen and restaurant - it is in need of a re fresh. Sadly we will not be returning.This hotel could be great - the food is very good but more attention to detail is needed.

Exploring Northumberland
This was our first trip to Alnwick and we were bowled over by the town and also the hotel. Everyone was so helpful and friendly, the food was excellent and our room was so cosy. We have no problem in recommending this hotel to anyone. Only one thing.....there is no lift, so if you have heavy luggage you might want assistance or pack a smaller case.

Excellent location in Alnwick to walk everywhere. We were upgraded on arrival which was nice.They do not pre-warn you about the very narrow arch entrance that you need to fold your wing mirrors in to get into the car park. A wide car would not get in. There is a back entrance that we were not told about until we arrived, but it is still a tight 90° turn, a few shunts required for long or wide cars. Food okay, breakfast not included. I asked for eggs benedict and was asked if that was with a fried egg, and it was swamped with hollandaise sauce, about a cupful.Next day l asked for scrambled egg and salmon. The egg had been microwaved as it was the shape of a big ramekin dish, and very dry.

Words fail me. This was advertised as a luxury hotel. It was the first hotel I have ever stayed in with no levers on the bath tap so it couldn't be operated or used. The poorly fitted shower spayed water everywhere. The bin hadn't been emptied or the room properly cleaned. The management of this hotel should hand their heads in shame
