Studio Maria at Playa Caribe is a compact, well-appointed studio in Akumal’s Half Moon Bay. Facing the street side of the building, it provides a quiet retreat while keeping you steps away from the beach and pool. The space is furnished with two double beds, a private bathroom with shower, air conditioning, and a kitchenette for simple meal preparation. Accommodating up to four guests, it’s an excellent choice for couples, friends, or small families seeking convenience and comfort.

Guests have access to Playa Caribe’s signature amenities: oceanfront swimming pool, sun loungers, BBQ grill, outdoor shower, and lush hanging gardens. Daily maid service, purified water, beach towels, and on-site concierge support are included, ensuring a relaxed and easy stay.

Studio Maria is a beautiful street side studio situated on the garden side of Playa Caribe beachfront condominiums. This well appointed suite offers 2 double beds, a fully equipped kitchenette and A/C. You will love its incredible central location and access to snorkeling on Half Moon Bay.

This how to travel smartly while on a budget! Playa Caribe Casitas have everything you need for an affordable vacation with all of the amenities you can beach access, swimming pool, A/C, and kitchen.

This is a streetview studio without direct ocean views, but guests enjoy the same beachfront perks. Half Moon Bay has rocky patches; water shoes are suggested for safe swimming. Daily housekeeping service is provided. Parking, beach towels, and purified water are provided.

KINDLY NOTE: South winds may bring Sargasso Seaweed to some beaches throughout the Caribbean, including the Rivera Maya. While the situation is hard to predict for each specific week and area, we would like you to be aware as there is the potential to impact the beach and water entry.

Good location, management -- dark inside

We really enjoyed the location and thought Playa Caribe was a clean, well maintained complex with excellent management communication/advice from Augustine. We rented bikes from Playa Caribe that were great for getting into Akumal. We brought out own snorkels and were able to snorkel off of the beach in half moon bay (we would recommend water shoes for half moon bay). The downsides for us were that this unit is rather cave-like with the only windows being on the entry door and in the shower. Also we wish we would have sprung for a larger unit as it was really kind of cramped for our family of four. Could definitely work well for a couple or for a short stay.

Everything great except...

The people are wonderful. The place is sweet but there are no windows. That would normally be a deal breaker for me. Some people may not care. Outdoor spaces are terrific so I tried to be outside all the time. Otherwise casita is well decorated and has everything and is really well run.

Great location!!

Everything you need is already supplied!! Daily maid service if you want. Beach is very close. Just turn lef out of the door and go up the stairs. Right there!! Pool was clean and plenty of chairs on the beach. Highly recommend!!

LOVED our stay at Casita Maria

We are so happy we were able to stay at Casita Maria! It was so charming, and the location was unbelievable! Right on the beach in Half Moon Bay! Beautiful, and great snorkeling too. We saw stingrays, turtles, and a lot of fish! We loved it! And there was no sargassum. The beach was perfect!!! For the price, this little gem is fantastic! It's not huge... it's like a hotel room with a bonus kitchen. Everything worked great, and it was nice and clean. Patricia did a wonderful job cleaning our room each day. Augustin was very nice, although we didn't talk to him much because we didn't have any issues. I definitely recommend a stay at charming little Casita Maria! Oh, and don't forget to use the dehumidifier in the corner of the room. It made a huge difference (we didn't realize it was there until halfway through our trip). Thanks for a great place to stay, Chris and Polly!

Amazing Location, Beautiful Room, Steps from the OCEAN!

Absolutely loved staying here. Steps from a swimmable ocean. Pool overlooking the ocean. And we felt like we had the whole outside area to ourselves. We will be back!

All you need

Casita Maria is a great place for a quiet getaway. The unit is private, but only a short walk from the pool. Chris & Polly were very quick to answer all of my questions about the casita. The unit had all the supplies I needed, including a cooler that I used for a day trip. There's a great restaurant just down the street and a convenience store just across the way. I had a rental car and the building has plenty of reserved parking.

Perfect for Three of Us

We enjoyed our long weekend in Akumal at Casita Maria! Location is perfect for exploring - walkable to all restaurants and activities. Having access to the pool was perfect. The Casita has everything needed for a very comfortable stay. The air conditioning unit is amazing. The bathroom is nicely updated and has plenty of space. We have a close friend that lives in the area year round and we will be back to visit and plan to stay at Casita Maria in the future. Perfect Stay!

A great getaway with the family

This is our second time at Casita Maria in Akumal, and we couldn't be more satisfied. The room is like a hotel room with an additional small kitchen, but the real selling point of this place is the pool which is right on the bay. The service is great, the room is clean, and there's a newly renovated bathroom. For the price, it's hard to beat this little place.

Lovely Casita!

We just spent 4 nights at this Casita. It's very clean and well maintained. Close proximity to a small store that has all essentials and a nice snorkel shop. Also very close to La Buena Vida, a great little restaurant/beach hangout. The kitchenette is well-stocked, the pool is nice, and the staff at Playa Caribe is very friendly. The only reason I'm not giving this 5 stars is due to THE SEAWEED. There are literally 3 foot mounds of SEAWEED on the beach all along Half Moon Bay. It's especially bad directly in front of the complex in which this casita is located (Playa Caribe). Playa Caribe's beach is basically the width of a beach lounger plus about two feet of sand - and then massive amounts of SEAWEED block your entrance to the ocean. I realize this is not within the control of the owners and that there are people working to remove the seaweed from the beach almost every day. We also still really enjoyed our stay. However, I just wish I had known about the seaweed prior to booking this place. It really is pretty overwhelming. You are still able to walk down the beach either direction and access the water, but had it been crowded, we would have been stuck in lounge chairs with our feet about two feet from the mounds of seaweed. It's kind of sad. Otherwise, this is an absolutely top notch little getaway.

Great Location and Amazing Management. We had a great time

We always vrbo when we travel and have stayed in many places but I have to say that Playa Caribe has the best and most responsive management of anywhere we have stayed. Augustin will help you figure out anything you need or have questions about. It is a very well kept condo complex and Casita Maria was spotless and welcoming. My husband, daughter and I stayed and while staying in a studio can be a bit confining the fact is that we never ate inside once. We made meals and ate them all out on the deck by the pool looking at half moon bay. Half Moon bay and Akumal Bay are great place to be introduced to snorkeling. We are divers but our 10 year old snorkeled for the first time and saw turtles, fish everything. What a great first experience. Akumal is easy and safe to walk and bike everywhere. Great family vacay. Thanks for the great Casita Chris and Polly.

We really enjoyed our stay at Casita Maria. Very clean, comfortable beds and a good location, about 15 minute walk to town. Nice to have a small grocery store across the street. Augusta, the front desk Manager was very helpful. Yal Ku is walking distance and we would highly recommend a trip there if you like to snorkel, the sea was pretty rough in front of the complex during the time we were there. Great home base to explore the area.

Great, quiet location along the beach, clean condo with everything you need available.

Our stay at this property was very positive. The room was stocked with everything we would need. The check-in was easy and extremely hospitable. The restaurants nearby were lovely as well. I would recommend this area of Akumal as well as this accommodation - good value!

Get a view!

Upon arrival no one was in the office. The sign said will return at 2 and we were there at 4 and no one came until the next day. There was an empty binder which I think was supposed to have instructions on the area and the casita. We told Augustin that the folder was empty and he never gave us the pages. Every morning the workers clearing the sea weed from the beach were out side really early talking. The beach was full of sea weed and really had a really bad smell. The room needed a bit more care in cleaning the floors. There were coffee stains on the floor when we got there and I had to tell the housekeeper to not use cleaner that made the floors slippery. We did appreciate the coffee, the fruit, chips,salsa and the popcorn. That was the nicest welcome of staying there. Also Augustin did answer all our questions and got us a golf cart and bike to rent.
