Så bedre ut på bildene enn i virkeligheten. Vi hadde bestilt rom for to voksne og to tenåringer. Sofasengen var utrolig smal og tynn. Måtte be dem sette opp en feltseng i tillegg. Svømmebassenget og området rundt var ikke like innbydende som på nettsiden og vannet kunne med fordel vært renset eller byttet ut. Jeg så mange lange hår og støv/andre partikler i vannoverflaten. Frokosten var ok. Litt lite interesserte ansatte. Helt ok men velger nok et annet sted ved en annen anledning.

The only bad thing was the bedroom unit at the back of the lovely big White House front was shabby and dirty outside. It needed cleaning or painting. One male member of the household team was rude and quite happily let two sets of doors shut in our faces. Charming! Everything else and everyone else was fab.

Whilst the hotel was reasonable it was looking very shabby with peeling pain on internal and external surface, including the bedroom and bathroom. Could be a great hotel if it had some money spent on it.

Having stayed at Milton Hill House several times before, I was quite disappointed this visit. Firstly upon stood at the reception to check in the staff continued with their noisy conversation for a while. I was made to wait a few minutes to be checked in!! Then after a long journey, I arrived at my room to freshen up, to find the shower only dribbled. Very poor start indeed. After a lengthy trek bad to reception I was offered a different room. Thankfully it was a nice quiet room where the shower worked with running water, which was worth the aggro of moving everything to another room. I used the leisure facilities to find the pool/ hot tub was dirty, changing rooms very small, and the gym was rather basic. The whole facilty is in need of TLC as paint was peeling off window frames, weeds were growing everywhere, carpets were discoloured, and everywhere looked pretty tired. Saying that i do like the location, the history of the house, and the delightful Izzy on reception went out of her way to ensure my stay was as enjoyable as possible.

The staff are so welcoming and friendly. We stayed in a wing which, while not the most welcoming looking from outside, actually offers warm, large, nicely decorated rooms, with a comfortable bed and excellent shower. Elasewhere, the hotel is full of character and charm (the Italian garden particularly catches the eye), contrasted with a modern pool, sauna and steam room. Finally, the jacuzzi is excellent, although the button to operate the bubbles is currently difficult to operate - bear with it. Overall, superb value for money - already booked to return in a month’s time.

Very nice room in garden block. Clean comfortable and with tea and coffee facilities. Nice toiletries in bathroom. This is very much a conference centre which might not suit people who are looking for more than a couple of nights stay.

If you’re thinking of staying here, don’t! It’s one of the worst places I’ve stayed at, and I won’t be making the same mistake again. They’ll make all sorts of promises prior to booking, like a quiet room and requested floor, only to renegade at the point of check in. The standard rooms are in a prison style building separate to the main house, where rooms are generally tired and disappointing. Be prepared to be totally let down. The food is inedible and without flavour, I preferred not to eat at all. The leisure facilities are always out of order, with the sauna not working and the steam room barely. The jacuzzi will scald you, it’s so hot you’ll be cooking and it’s impossible to remain in there for more than a minute. The pool looked like it had never been cleaned with bits of debris and plastic all over. You could also see the bacteria foam appearing in places. All in all, it’s a place where you’re likely to catch something. Both Charlotte and Bianca need to be replaced, the worst ‘managers’ I’ve ever come across, it’s a let down to all the other staff.

A beautiful hotel where things can’t be fixed.
The hotel was a beautiful hotel, a grand house and lovely rooms. The only downside was the jacuzzi not working and the bathroom door got stuck everytime you shut it. We did report this and whilst the young lady at reception in the evenings was lovely and apologetic, I was surprised there is no one around at weekends to fix anything, good job it wasn’t an emergency.

Nice though a bit dated in places
A slightly different place to stay in - dating back to the 18th century in parts. Reason for the cheaper rates is that there is a 1970s-built annexe that looks like it's seen better days, where quite a few of the guest rooms are located, but it's perfectly comfortable and (once we'd got the windows properly closed) warm. Nice staff, although at dinner on Saturday night they seemed a bit overwhelmed as the restaurant was full. Quite a wait for food but it was nice when it arrived. Pool and gym, nice bar and some grounds to walk around in. As the name suggests, it is on the top of a hill so it can get quite windy - but warm inside the hotel buildings. Some distance (about 15 miles) from Oxford. As a base for one or a few nights though Milton Hill House is fine.

Disappointed.
Reception area was nice and fairly welcoming. The receptionist was lovely and was working well under pressure with everyone checking in at same time. Rest of hotel was very tired looking. Bathroom in our room was very small like a little cupboard. No hot water in sink. Hot water eventually in the shower but difficult to regulate temperature when we got the hot. Found little pubic hairs round bottom of the toilet bowl by floor. Hairdryer was not great either. Was quite disappointed having managed to have a weekend away with no children.

Quirky hotel
All the staff were brilliant, friendly and efficient. The leisure centre was relaxing and spotless although I would have liked the jacuzzi to have been a little hotter. The hotel is very interesting with many small lounges. The hotel is easy to find and has lovely views and grounds.

We were really pleased with the room but after checking in we were directed to garden quarter, well I thought we were going in another hotel entrance not a dirty old block that looks like a block of old flats, its dark dismal and dangerous for a woman on her own , we never had our breakfast there because we were not told where the restaurant was and it also seemed to far to walk as my husband didn't think he needed his wheelchair and couldn't walk that far, also we were on a mini break to finish breakfast at 9 is far to early, as it takes my husband a good hour to get himself ready its hardly a break when he would be up by at least 7.30 to get to restaurant and order breakfast,

The hotel is conveniently located close to the A34, has lovely grounds and good facilities, and the staff were extremely nice and helpful. The hotel consists of a number of wings so finding your way around can be a challenge, but it had all the facilities I needed and it was quiet so I could get a good night's sleep.

I stayed in a very clean, well appointed and modern room in annex that looks like a student accommodation block from the outside. Much, much nicer in the rooms compared to external appearances.

Okay stay in a tired hotel.
Not the most comfortable stay I've ever had. The room itself was well appointed, but quite musty and drab with stained carpets and damaged paintwork. Quite a lot of noise outside the room as well.

The hotel was busy when we arrived and there was only 1 member of staff who was clearly struggling although putting on a cheerful face. We were told the restaurant was fully booked till 8pm but we were not worried, there was a room service menu in the room, telephone did not work so walked to reception to be told no room service today! The room itself was very tired, yellow and sticky on the skirting boards, furniture scratched and worn. The bathroom had not been cleaned thoroughly so much so that you could see an imprint on the windowsill where someone had sat on it before getting dressed! We were woken up up at 5.15am by furniture being dragged around in the restaurant below us, this went on for 15 minutes, the staff had no thought about the time or noise they were creating. Breakfast was ok but very little left in the buffet, no croissants, no service, I could go on … We had booked for 3 nights but left after 1, never to return.
