Mismanaged hotel with great potential
We have 10 nights in February. This is the pros and cons: Pro: - good price versus its competitors. - great breakfast and lunch buffet with good quality and variety. - 6 different a la carte restaurants where some offer good meals. 1 spacious rooms. Cons: - it’s very difficult to get a table at the a la carte restaurants. They close the booing system after a few minutes even though it’s not nearly half full. I suspect it has to do with personnel costs. - service is (like most of Caribbean) in general not good. No smiles and nobody initiates anything until they get told/asked. - some of the bartenders ask to get a online survey done before they serve you. And of course it’s “demanded” that you give 5 stars. - the pools are too cold. The lacy river is not possible to use because it’s too cold. Our kid got blue lips after 1 hour in the children’s water park! - the children’s water park doesn’t have anything for kids under “3-years” since all slides are closed and the short ones are too steep. - a lot of the guests allocate towels on the sunbeds so the rest of us normal people don’t get any sunbeds after finished at the breakfast. Most of the days. The occupied beds where not in use until around 12-13:00. - the hotel is located in the furthest part of the hotel zone from punta cana city. If you need to go to the city it’s 50$ each way in taxi. In general DR is very expensive! So be prepared to pay top dollar for groceries, wine and all things “luxury”.

My stay at Ocean El Faro was amazing. However, I have a bunch of bedbug bites on my leg, which is very unfortunate. I’d give the food an 8/10. I ordered room service and my food never came. But overall it was good. Staff was more than helpful.

We had a great stay at El Faro with my family. We stayed there for 6 days. We did have couple of issues with our room at first but the staff went above and beyond to get these resolved quickly. Special thanks to Johanser and his team. We loved the beautiful beach, swimming pools, a nice room, lazy river and multiple dinner options. We are definitely coming back. Staff was very helpful and friendly. It would be nice to see a little more floaties at the lazy river because these get taken fast. Otherwise, we had an amazing stay. Thank you, El Faro! 😃

Thanks, Concierge services, A bad trip become a good one. I still think you need to make sure somebody looking into the Suite, dining, Is it really below the minimum standard. La atención al llegar no fue la mejor pues no me explicaron todo lo que tiene el hotel para ofrecer y me sentía perdida, no hubo transporte a la habitación y quedaba lejos, la atención en los restaurantes fue muy buena! El mejor trato fue en la barra de la playa El Beso fueron muy atentos con el servicio al igual que el área de boliche los mejores! Volvería pero quisiera que mejoraran en la primera impresión que dan en el lobby y su transportación para moverse en el Hotel!

The resort was beautiful, beaches were great, food was fairly good. Staff was good for the most part. The only issue we had was there was always someone trying to sell you something such as spa services, excursions and trying to get you to become a member of the resort. They would constantly hound you on almost every corner. We came to relax and enjoy, not to be pestered at every turn to buy something. Also trying to get a drink at the bar or pool bar is a mission especially if you dont speak spanish.

I recently stayed at Ocean El Faro with my family, including a baby. The rooms looked great in photos, but had old/jammed furniture, mold, and a funky smell. It took over a day to switch rooms, and the front desk was unresponsive. Check-in took an hour, and staff didn't provide a warm welcome. Baggage and room service took a long time, and the room wasn't properly cleaned Despite tips . The resort's saving graces were breakfast options, coffee shop, pool, lazy river, lobby bar Mario and Sakura. However, the lack of staff meant long waits, and shuttle service was unreliable.. The air conditioning didn't work for a night, leaving us feeling sticky. Upon checkout, I had to wheel my suitcases from one end of the resort to the lobby and the shuttle drivers denied entry even when it was empty , which was far and inconvenient. Many guests complained about similar issues, but staff just said "sorry" and claimed there was nothing they could do. I will share my experience with footage and photos on my social media to help other families make informed decisions. This resort seems better suited for high school kids looking for good Instagram photos, not families seeking a relaxing vacation. Be prepared for long waits and poor service, and don't expect meaningful solutions or empathy from the staff. I’m all honestly I think the resort was given a face lift to mask the major issues and fool us into thinking it’s luxury.

The staff at the bar of the lazy river pool was great, especially the team of Nerson, Manuel, and Leonela; they were very helpful, kind, and friendly. The waitress, Luisa, gave us excellent service at the steak restaurant.

Yo opino qué no es un hotel de 5 estrellas como ponen en Expedía, las habitaciones una con mucho olor a humedad , me tuvieron que poner un humidificador y botar el agua dos veces al día ,y los pasillos dé afuera de la habitación se estaban callando los pedazos del techo y otra el aire no enfriaba bien , la piscina principal estaba verdosa y sucia con mojo en muchas partes , tuve que ir a decirlo más de 2 veces para que al otro día estuviera un poquito mejor , la playa que ponen en las fotos no es , la playa está pésima detrás del hotel , en el teatro no pude terminar de ver el espectáculo dos veces porque el calor no te permitía quedarte tanto tiempo , en el restaurante japonés , un solo cocinero para hacer la comida en la plancha para 20 personas , cuando te dan la comida está fría y el arroz muy seco ; lo recomendaría como un hotel 3 estrellas

I booked the swim up room, the place was immaculate. The staff treats you like family. This place has tons of activities and very entertaining. The resort is huge, so take advantage of the carts driving around.

I do not recommend this hotel to anyone, the rooms smell horrible, the beach is horrible, the staff is usually rude, the buffet was bad they have variety of food but wasn’t cooked well… I’ll never come back here. I thought of Punta Cana as a paradise but it wasn’t a paradise for me. Choose another hotel if you want to have a great service and enjoy the beach!

This property was beautiful.. very clean! Swimming pools were relaxing the staff was friendly.. Drinks were good.. so many activities onsite!! This place is great!

The property was clean , staff was nice. The only thing I would say is that the buffet restaurant El Mercado. The staff was friendly but some off the food was ok. The dish that was supposed to be hot it wasn’t , it was cold. Besides that our visit there was good .

WE HAD A BLAST!! The food was amazing , activities every day/night . The staff was so accommodating for a birthday as well as for booking reservations for dinner ! Safe to say this may become a yearly trip !
