This is unique experience. With outstanding views of Windermere and Ambleside. Try and avoid wedding weekends. As the menu is limited but still a lot of great choice and variety. Staff could not be more helpful and attentive. Makes a huge difference to a trip, I hope the management team take note. We stayed in the cottage's which were great for us as we travelled as a 6. And gave us some extra privacy and ability to spend the afternoon on our own terrace together which was great. But others may have found that irritating as we had all expected to be in the main house and had booked months in advance (albeit through Expedia). But it worked out for us. And to be honest the check-in staff member made this totally work for us. The communal areas around the hotel however looked tired and are in need of some work. Main hotel perfect. But things like the Jacuzzi has seen better days and some of the decor in the cottages, and bathrooms could do with some varnish and an overall modernisation. Styling perfect just dated/tired. Esp for the roommate paid. Dinner was very very good and I’d recommend booking for at least one night of your trip. And breakfast was also excellent. Huge range. High quality. Walks from the hotel and around Windermere are sublime. Lots of info available to suit all Abilities.
