We never spoke to the host. We brought a gift for the host expecting to do so. That's OK, of course. The house was in excellent condition, except that the gas stove malfunctioned twice while we were there, requiring a technician on both occasions so that we could use it. Since it's a mountain house, folks need to understand that the water pressure can be weak, especially if more than one person attempts to shower, or the dishwasher or washing machine is in use. Would have liked to have had a dish drain for handwashing dishes, since you don't want to run the dishwasher constantly. The driveway up to the house is a little precarious. Take caution driving up. There are places where the paving has worn away and your vehicle can skid/slip.Beautiful view, peaceful. We saw wild turkeys. No bears, although there were signs they had been there. We were disappointed to find that a hiking trail nearby was blocked by fallen trees, although I'm sure that was left over damage from the hurricane in early 2025. Would have liked to have had instructions for using the wooden stove central to the living area. There was ample firewood provided and we did make a fire in the firepit outside.Only about 15 min to grocery & restaurants in Weaverville, just far enough into the mountains to feel remote without actually being so. Would most definitely visit again.
