Expedia gives this an 8.6 but is extremely deceptive about this stay.
First, I received a call from the owners prior to check in asking what time specifically I would be checking in. They clearly don't stay in the office unless needed. As soon as I arrived, the owner walked my fiancé and I to our cottage with a very brief tour and then went straight back inside his home which was right next to ours.
The room itself was clean enough although the bed skirt had stains. The towels provided were small but I couldn’t ask for more because I didn’t realize this until after hours. You should bring your own shampoo and conditioner because none was provided. The room also said it had a kitchenette but there are no cups, plates, silverware.
Overall, if I knew it was a motel, then I would have adjusted my expectations accordingly but Expedia made it sound like a nice, homey cottage/B&B type situation.
Check out was at 11 am but when I tried to check out around 9 am the office was locked. I called all 3 numbers given and no one answered so we left the keys and parking pass inside the room and left.
The worst part is that we received a parking ticket because we had an “expired pass”. When I finally got a call back 10 hrs later, the owner was rude and said he showed us where to park (he gestured that we could park over there) and there was nothing he could do, but we should call the city and they would waive it. We called VB but are on the hook for a $70 parking ticket
