This was one of the most unprofessional and upsetting experiences I’ve ever had.
We paid in full for our room, arrived hours away from home while traveling for a funeral, and were then told the hotel had overbooked and no longer had a room for us. The front desk employee offered a different room with a bed and a pull-out couch. I specifically told him I was stepping outside to check with the girl I was traveling with, and when I came back moments later, he had sold that room to someone else who was there to check in their room that had already been overbooked.
We were left with nowhere to go. Every other hotel in the area was completely sold out. Even after showing proof of payment and our receipt, the response we received was “it’s not my fault the hotel overbooked,” followed by being told there was nothing that could be done, and that we would not be refunded until we contacted Expedia.
There was no effort to help, no attempt to find alternative accommodations, and absolutely no compassion, despite knowing we were in town for a funeral and hours away from home. Overbooking is one thing, but selling a room that was just offered and then leaving paying guests stranded is unacceptable.
This experience showed a complete lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic human decency. I would strongly caution anyone against staying here.
