Full of character and very welcoming staff. Perfect if you want a hotel that is unique, full of charm and history right at the heart of the Medina. The roof terrace with different seating areas is a bonus. might not suit those who like the big hotel chains, but I would choose this every time.

I loved this place so much! The place is just beautiful, staff is super helpful and friendly and breakfast is great. Also located in the nicest part of the medina! Highly recommend!

Personnel fantastic, gentile et cordiale surtout disponible. Immeuble tres particulier et joli. Comfort moyen : pas de troisieme lit pret et on a du demander le necessaire pour le dresser nous memes, pas de chauffage fonctionnant….a ameliorer pour la saison d’hiver!

Dear Paola, we are very sorry about your negative experience at our property, unfortunately the room you booked is a double room and we only add an extra third bed upon request; the information might have been wrongly presented on the booking platform, and we are currently checking this to make the necessary modifications, so no more such inconvenience happens in the future; nevertheless, the extra bed was provided, as per your request. As with regards to the heater, it is unfortunate that you came late at night, only stayed for 1 night, and there was not time to preset our apologies and fix the heater or improve your experience; nevertheless it is our mistake, as we should have checked the heater before your checked in and I am very sorry about this. It is rare that our guests face heater issues, and I am very sorry this occurred during your stay. Now it is fixed, and we so much hope that you will stay with us again to make up for you unfortunate negative experience. Should you decide to stay with us in the near future, we will do all we can to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

Dar Ben Gacem is beautiful, welcoming, and the perfect location to enjoy the Tunis medina and its best cafes. The staff is super helpful, always available, and really caring. The women who prepare and serve the amazing breakfast (Shakshouka!) are so kind. The rooms are amazing but so are the common areas, and the place is full of beautiful books about Tunisia.

The hotel is absolutely beautiful. The location in the medida is fantastic. The decor is tasteful and the staff is professional and very friendly. It feels like home. The building is a jewel, you feel very special being there. Great location, delicious breakfast. I loved it. Thank you

Amazing guesthouse from the 1600s with great antiques, right in the middle of La Medina. The staff is incredibly kind and helpful and went out of their way to help make dinner reservations, show me local lunch places, help me with a cab to the airport, etc.

Interesting hotel but varying room qualities
A pleasant hotel with friendly service and good location that serves as a great introduction to the historic Tunis. We enjoyed the breakfast and exploring areas of the hotel. An airport transfer was arranged that cost 30 Tunisian dinar. Our room was interesting but much smaller and less comfortable (including the shower room) than expected from the pictures so we felt overcharged and less happy than we might have been overall.

Charming Hotel that represents Tunisian spirit
It was excellent! Phenomenal service and attention. best location in the heart of Tunis medina. The hotel was exotic with the charm of Tunisian architecture, the view from rooftop was lovely. The rooms were very nice, clean and comfortable. Would recommend this to anyone visiting Tunis. loved it!

Incredible guesthouse with really friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was fantastic. Lovely local feel to the place, nice architectural touches and great location in the medina, although just enough away from the hustle and bustle to be a little oasis. Really highly recommended.

Great boutique hotel that oozes character from youths minute you step through the front door. It is well positioned right near the Markets in the old town. The staff were some of the most friendly that I have ever encountered & they really went out of their way ( particularly Mr Daali) to ensure we a most memorable & comfortable stay. Will definitely return there when traveling back to Tunis.

Something traditional
We had a nice time at Dar Ben-Gacem. It was well located and the service was great. Our room was very quiet and spacious. It was great to see something traditional. The breakfast on the last day was great, and we enjoyed the coffee and delicious fruit every morning and they are happy to give more of everything. There is a beautiful roof deck with an amazing view of the medina. The downsides: the room gets very warm if the air conditioning was not running as there were only two very small windows for air. Other rooms appeared to have much better windows. There was only a tub in our room, which made taking showers difficult. The breakfast was bread, cheese, and fruit on two of our three days, which is a bit plain, but there were good eggs the last day. There may have been eggs for other days as well, but we did not ask so that may be our fault. The room was clean but the floors are traditional so a bit dusty, and the rugs on the floor and around the bed are worn.

Accueil exceptionnel : personnel aux petits soins , toujours disponible et très souriant. Chambres spacieuses avec tous les équipements nécessaires. Seule la TV ne fonctionne pas. Très bonne literie. Très bien situé au cœur de la Médina, quartier historique et plein de charme. Petits déjeuners et dîners excellents ! Vivement conseillé !!

This is a great place to stay. They MAKE the experience. Do it all, just ask them what they can arrange, and book. Ask them to make dinner for you. We had dinner 4 times at the hotel and each dinner was delicious! Look no further!

A stunning property. Beautifully furnished with period features. Rooms are cosy (unless you stay in a suite) but they have copious attention to detail. Lovely communal areas. Not centrally heated so it can get cold in December. Delightful staff.

Stay at this hotel, for an authentic Medina experience. If you crave Western experiences, Tunis's main street (sometimes called Tunis's Champs Elysee) is just a ten-minute walk away. The hotel will book a cab for you and it will come to the door, but otherwise you are unlikely to be able to hail a cab in the Medina, as they are not keen to penetrate the warren of narrow streets and alleys. The Medina is completely safe and women can walk through without fear of being propositioned.

Houveram pessoas que ajudaram sim, mas outras não faziam questão alguma de dar alguma informação. Sobre o quarto, não tem chuveiro e encontramos baratas no quarto, principalmente a noite.

Dar authentique au cœur de la médina
Véritable maison d’hotes, à la seule difference que ce sont des salariés. Nous n’avons pas fermé notre porte à clé de la semaine sans problème. Il y a moins de 10 chambres, avec toujours au moins une personne disponible 24h/24. Ses grandes qualités sont sa beauté et sa simplicité, j’étendais mon linge sur la terrasse qui a une belle vue par exemple. Ses défauts sont minimes pour moi, c’est comme d’habitude des petites choses cassées et non réparées. Nous y retournerons l’année prochaine. Merci Ben Gacem

Une perle
C’etait notre premier voyage en tunisie et nous avons trouvé certaines choses peu a notre gout mais cet hôtel était exceptionnel, tres agreable, avec un service discret et a l’ecoute, plein de suggestions avec de supers initiatives comme une carte etc... Le souk peut etre vraiment eprouvant pour les voyageurs car nous sommes beaucoup (trop) sollicités par les vendeurs, et cet hotel nous a propose un calme bienvenu. Magnifique terrasse et cour interieure, petit dejeuner delicieux. A refaire si jamais nous revenons en tunisie.

Charming hotel in the kasbah
This converted home is centrally located in the middle of the kasbah and affords lots of charm and convenience. For an authentic Tunisia experience, avoid the typical western style hotels and immerse yourself in the controlled chaos of the kasbah. Hotel staff is flawless and very helpful. The breakfast is homemade with love by a local cook and she's amazing.

Un palacio en la Medina
Estuvimos 2 noches en el puente de diciembre, el Dar es muy bonito y decorado con mucho gusto, con todos los detalles muy cuidados, el personal es amable y dispuesto a ayudar. El desayuno estupendo, y abundante. Nuestra habitación era muy grande, y para calentarla solo disponía de un radiador de aceite, lo que hizo que nuestra estancia no haya sido todo lo agradable que me hubiera gustado, igual que el baño, hacia frio, en verano eso no hubiera sido un problema. Quizás la limpieza sea lo mas descuidado, pero se entiende por la dificultad de mantener el equilibrio entre lo moderno (las comodidades) y lo antiguo (lo autentico). Nuestra valoración es positiva, no siempre se tiene la oportunidad de dormir en un sito como este.

Siamo andati a Novembre, quando faceva un pò freddo e c'erano pochissime persone a Tunisi. L'hotel è molto accogliente, il personale disponibile e discreto. Ci hanno dato un termosifone per riscaldare la camera, cosa non scontata, per cui siamo stati benissimo.
