Big Bend National and State Park-området med en ekte West Texas-opplevelse.

Ten Bits Ranch ligger bare (20) minutter fra inngangen til Big Bend nasjonalpark og Ghost Town fra Terlingua. Vi er 15-20 minutter fra Rio Aviation Scenic-flyvninger, rafting og Big Bend Stables ridning. Vi er (25) minutter fra det fantastiske besøkssenteret Big Bend Ranch State Park og det vakre Lajitas Golf Resort.

The Gun Shop (Room # 3) er en del av en gammel vestbytema med en bank (rom nr. 1), School House (Room # 2), Gun Shop (Room # 3), General Store (Room # 4). Vi har også et felles ildsted, og har felles kjøkken og spisestue i Cantina.

  • The Rio Grande River winds 12 miles down Santa Elena Canyon in Big Bend National Park, Texas. When the water is high you can come down the 1,500 foot walled canyon. With less water flowing, guides take you 3 to 4 miles up the canyon with some spots having to portage. But take it all in stride because the views are breathtaking. I recommend Big Bend River Tours. You might get lucky and have the guides that take you a half mile up a side canyon. An excellent day excursion in the out of the way national park.

We hiked further than the 0.7 mile indicated on the signage, and ended up scooting and scrambling up the most interesting narrow and smooth chutes. We heard the song of the elusive canyon wren, too. Such a charming, little place with lots of land to explore. The cantina is great for meals any time of day. The night sky is so dark and beautiful when the stars are out. About 1-1.5 hours from all the trailheads in Big Bend.

It was a mother and son vacation. Ranch was off grid with two miles on gravel dirt road and upon arriving, found some bugs on our clean towels. Unfortunately the housekeeper can’t replace it until the next day late. Thats why I gave it 4 stars. It was a neat place to stay in. Has wifi, tv, some foods/water stocked in the cantina but we brought our favorite foods and water with us as well. (Strongly recommend you bring in sharp knives if you need to prep. There arent any at the cantina when I tried to find one).

The place, the view, the sunrise and the sunset are gorgeous! Location is perfect and not too far from town. Gas, food and Big Bend national park is 20mins away. Cabins were clean, cozy and big. And I love that each cabin has their own fire pit!The Cantina/communal kitchen/dining is packed with everything you need! Free flowing bottled water, bagels, spreads, milk, muffins, oats, healthy bars and more. Just wish the Cantina is a little bigger. There were other families that were there during Thanksgiving and we had to wait a while to be able to use the kitchen and dining. We ended up eating outside. There were outdoor tables and chairs. Good thing it was not too cold. The following night, there were guests who ate and ended up playing card games until past 10pm, we ended up eating outside again since they did not care about other people waiting to use the Cantina for cooking/dining. But all in all we had a great time and we are already planning on coming back with the whole family! Thank you so much for accomodating us and our pups!

The cabin was comfortable. Small issue with not being able to have the ceiling fan on without the lights (had to remove the bulbs for sleeping). A unique setting! Didn't take advantage of the shared food prep area, but we should have.

Ten Bits Ranch is a fantastic place to relax and unwind for a few days. The cabin is outfitted well; comfortable bed, clean shower, plenty of hot water, and a great air conditioner. A common kitchen is provided for guests and is more than I expected...well stocked and outfitted. The scenery in this area is amazing. I don't know what the puma population is, but I was fortunate enough to see one about 40 miles south of the ranch. The ranch is a good location if you want to visit Marfa, Alpine Fort Davis and the Big Bend National Park. The food in the Terlingua/Study Butte eateries is great, and the restaurants are staffed with friendly people providing fast service. I had a cell phone camera but will be bringing a SLR or two when I visit again in late fall or winter. I highly recommend visiting Ten Bits Ranch if you are planning a trip to this area.

We really enjoyed our stay. The property is very quaint and has the feel of an old cowboy town. Loved it! Everyone we met (other guests) were equally impressed. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a charming stay near Big Bend.

Wild West decor made the little village fun. The cantina was well stocked for breakfast and the cabin was clean and comfortable. The 2 mile unpaved road to get there was a bit of a challenge tho.

Wonderful experience

This place is great! If you ever wondered what it was like 150 yrs ago here’s your chance. Love how they set this place up like an old west town! Awesome creativity! We stayed in the Guns. Room #3. It was larger than expected and the decor was on point. The Cantina was a wonderful addition. Wonderfully stocked. We live in the country so really enjoyed the solitude. Beautiful sunsets & sunrises. Great experience!

Awesome

Pleasantly surprised! Unbelievable property unique would definitely recommend to all. Bring your own food stock up at Lowe’s in alpine. Enjoyed grilling out lunch on the road. Breakfast was sufficient.

Great off the road spot

Great rustic feel and awesome views from the cabins. Great shared facilities for meal prep. Out of the way of crowds from park visitors. What most of us come there for is to get away from crowded areas and have peace and solitude. Sis and Cowboy are great hosts. Totally dedicated to the property and the comfort of their guests. Getting to the park is a bit longer but IMO definitely worth it....

A West Texas Gem

My wife and I decided to stay at the 10 Bits Ranch not really knowing what to expect. It was an outstanding and unique experience. Checking in and check out was organized and the charm of Old West town was apparent. Note that the Ranch is 2 miles off the main highway on a County Road but that wasn’t much of a problem. The sunsets and stars were unbelievable and a trip up to the Apache Cave was not something you would find at a Holiday Inn. Thanks to Cowboy and Sis for creating this gem in the desert.

Great Location for exploring, we’d come back again

The Ranch was remote but not that far off the paved road and about 17 miles from the entrance to Big Bend National Park. The road was a dusty gravel road. Aside from one spot where the water runs over the road (if it ever rains), it wasn’t a bad road. Our Mazda CX5 made it with no issues. The bed in the room was comfortable, but wished the room had a comfortable loveseat instead of the rocking chairs which weren’t very comfortable at the end of a long day. We had plenty of towels and hot water. The air conditioner worked well despite the heat. No hair dryer in room. The room was a bit dusty but expected that given the roads and dry conditions. The ranch supplied cooled water for drinking and the cantina was reasonably well equipped for cooking. We enjoyed the bagels for breakfast and there was an assortment of 4 different cereals. One negative, we had a bit of trouble figuring out the stoves. We couldn’t adjust the flame on one. No matter what we did, it was the same…about medium? The other stove had two burners out of six which worked reliably. Overall, it was a wonderful experience.
