Toucan Lodge – Amazon Rainforest Retreat in Nature
Welcome to Toucan Lodge, your serene sanctuary in the heart of the Ecuadorian Amazon. Nestled among towering trees and vibrant wildlife, the lodge is handcrafted from bamboo and wood, designed to blend luxury, sustainability, and the spirit of the jungle.

Book your experiences in advance here or when you arrive at the lodge. Please bring sufficient cash in USD to pay directly, and for any local craft or jewellery you wish to buy from the indigenous family living in our private reserve. All activity fees go directly to the community Guayusa Runa, who are all expert guides and craftspeople.
Toucan Lodge is appx 50 sqm set over two floors and includes your own private entrance, private parking, a deck, bedroom with double bed, living area, dining area, fully equipped kitchen, balcony, workspace, stairway, bathroom with hot shower and a large deep hot bath, patio with hammock and swing, and a large garden. Our private reserve covers close to 25 hectares, with the surrounding jungle, rivers and waterfalls to explore.
The Realities of Staying in a Jungle Lodge
A stay at Toucan Lodge is an unforgettable adventure, but life in the jungle comes with unique experiences. You’ll wake up to the sounds of exotic birds and fall asleep to the hum of the rainforest. The air is fresh, the views are breathtaking, and the connection to nature is unparalleled. The community invite you to join them to enjoy Guayusa tea nearby before sunrise.
However, the jungle is a living, untamed environment, and you may encounter insects. The running water is filtered and comes from the local river and is collected in a large water tank. Although, filtered and pure, the water is not potable. Large 15 litre tap water bottles are provided to drink in the kitchen. The tropical climate brings warmth, humidity, and sudden rain showers, adding to the immersive experience. While we provide comfort with mosquito nets, and quality amenities, it’s important to embrace the wild beauty that surrounds you. The lodge is an open-air space without windows. During the night time and early hours of the morning, you may feel a little chilly, so please bring suitable clothing to accommodate this, such as a warm poncho or jumper. We can provide extra blankets to accommodate your needs. We provide wellington boots, small binoculars, a bird guide book, shampoo and conditioner, and soap. See below for a fully list of amenities.

If you’re seeking an authentic escape where nature takes center stage, Toucan Lodge offers the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation in the heart of the Amazon.
Guest access
Toucan Lodge is set within a private reserve in appx 25 hectares of rainforest within the indigenous community Guayusa Runa. You have your own private access to the property with your own set of keys and your own garden to enjoy. The surrounding rainforest is shared with the community and other guests. We have private parking in the reserve. There are a few steps down to the lodge which sits on a hill, like a tree house.
Other things to note
Every night you sleep in Toucan Lodge you are also helping save the rainforest, its wildlife, and providing jobs for the local community. Your stay includes cleaning. This fee and all the extra activities you participate in go directly to the community at Guayusa Runa, to help support them.
