Hondo Creek Hideaway is near Tarpley, on four acres along Hondo Creek, a tributary of the Frio River. Bring tubes, kayaks and fishing gear. Tarpley and Bandera are both nearby, and Lost Maples and Garner State Park are within a day trip.



Inside, the house is bright, with central air, ceiling fans, a living room with a smart TV, a dining table that seats eight and a bar with stools. The kitchen is fully equipped, with a dishwasher. The primary suite has a queen bed, a TV and a bath with a double vanity, a shower and a garden tub. Two more bedrooms have full beds and share a bath with a tub and shower, and a futon in the living room sleeps two more. Wi-Fi and a washer and dryer are here too.



There are two decks. The small one in front faces the hills and works for morning coffee. The larger covered deck out back overlooks the creek, with seating and string lights. A private dock with seating sits on the water, and catch-and-release fishing is allowed. There is a charcoal grill, covered parking and plenty of room for more cars.

WHY WE LIKE IT

What we tell people about Hondo Creek Hideaway is to look at the back deck. It is large, covered, overlooks the creek and has string lights, so it is where evenings end up. There is also a private dock with seating on the water. The dining table seats eight, which suits a family that wants to eat together.
