Almost there, but not quite.
We arrived late in Stirling on our way to the highlands. Wanted to visit Stirling Castle and found Colessio. Great location and the hotel had the potential to be the best we stayed at during our two week stay in Scotland. The hotel was clean and stylish but fell short due to simple lacking maintenance. Patches on the ceiling over the bed from previous leaks were poorly repaired. Chracked and loose tiles in the bath, and other small imperfections reduced the feeling of quality. I would stay here again, but would request a fresher room. Good espresso with breakfast.

We loved our stay at the Hotel Colessio; it was easy to get there from the train station. The room was neat, clean and spacious. We were able to walk everywhere and had a great time visiting Stirling!

The lift was broken, construction outside was very loud and unpleasant. The system went down for the bar so we couldn't buy drinks, and the staff wasn't helpful.

A lovely hotel , the bathroom is amazing. Beware you have to pay for hotel parking- £15. However there is metered street parking.

The staff was very attentive to our needs. The reception agent was also our bartender---she seemed to be there 24/7 and doing everything. Our Room was on the second floor and the elevator was out of order (how long??). We are too senior for many trips up and down with luggage. Good exercise though.

Rooms were of good standard and the location, close to everything we wanted, was very helpful. Most of all we were struck by how friendly, helpful and positive every single staff member was. True gems of the hotel.

One staff member was friendly, the rest were unfriendly. The hotwl was dirty and in disrepair. My room had no dresser or bedside tables. There was no comfortable seat, just an old wornout desk and chair - useless. The was a beautiful tub and i couldn't get hot water. You'd be wise to avoid this place.

Nice hotel in historic building, good location, nice rooms. Elevator was not working, TVs in bar were iptv based and very scetchy(poor internet). Restaurant was large but completely empty.

We were horrified at paying £15 to pay in the car park. We arrived late and there was no dinner option (restaurant was shut). Offered bar food but we waited at the bar and there were no staff around so we went on a hunt for a restaurant. Lighting in the room was weird as only two small lamps and no “main” light so we couldn’t see well in the room at all. Carpet really thread bare and there was a funny smell. Won’t’ be back. Not a fan of the dogs walking around the palace. I repeat - £15 to PARK THE CAR AT THE HOTEL.

With regards to being pet friendly, we are thrilled to be able to have pet owners be able to stay with us, but also have pet-free areas of the hotel as well.

The staff and overall appearance were great and the room was comfortable but is in need of a little updating and modernising as the carpet was thread bare in places and the mattress was very worn. It was also a little disappointing that there are no easy sockets or usb ports next to the bed, which is a bit of a must nowadays. It wouldn’t take a huge amount of investment and would make a huge difference. I will say against n though that the staff were great, the communal areas were lovely and the location is spot on, so it is worth a stay and we would come back.

Not as good as before
Stayed here a few times last year and it was great. Now they charge you £15.30 a day to park your car and the new buffer breakfast is terrible. Never anything there and when there is it’s poor quality and cold..also nothing continental except cereal.. I think it was £16 for the breakfast!

Only stayed one night but the hotel is very nice. Bar is great and the rooms are comfortable. Restaurant was closed due the season (January) but there are plenty of dining options in short walking distance.

This is the first time I had stayed at the Colessio and a very nice hotel. With the parked I was shocked that you have to pay extra for parking. For paying already a high price for the hotel that parking would have been part of the price.

We had a wonderful stay at the Colessio Hotel. We were able to check-in early and were kindly shown to our room on the ground floor. The ensuite was excellent with a lovely modern shower and bathtub which was big enough for two people. We had a pleasant and peaceful sleep. All staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. The property was only a short walk uphill from the train station and Stirling Castle. We would definitely stay here again if visiting Stirling in the future.

Good location and pleasant.
Very well located and central. Plenty of restiarnts around. A pity the hotel restaurant was not open for evening food. Staff very pleasant.

Very nice hotel in excellent location. The room was clean and well equipped. Sadly a few things, we were charged £15 for parking in the hotel car park. We paid £15 each for breakfast which wasn't very good. The coffee was awful. Lastly the audible language from the kitchen was colourful. Not what you would expect from a hotel of this calibre.

Check in was very slow with a queue from main door to reception desk and only one recepionist dealing with everyone. A man who seemed to be a manager in area who made no effort to help or apologise for situation. Dinner menu was very disappointing and completely uninspiring which meant we ate out! Breakfast was equally disapointing and the breakfast waitress was uninterested, unattentive and unverging on rude. Overall, for the charge of £171 B&B we were glad our stay was for one night only and we would not stay again.

Terribly understaffed. Stood waiting for about 15 minutes for a drink at bar while the one person there making cocktails. There were two people in front of me as well so actually ended up just saying to my partner we'll go to the shop and get a drink for the room. When we went up stairs to chill with a drink, the TV didn't work. Called the hotel number for help which took you round in circles, so went down to speak to someone. Guy said noone would be able to sort it til the following day. Pretty useless as we were only there for a night. Wasn't the actual staff fault but place seems to be very poorly managed. 160 quid for one night we paid. Have stayed in hotels at half the price that were far superior. Expedia have advised they'll put 25 quid credit on account but would really have preferred a partial refund. Won't be in a hurry to book via them again, and have used for years.

Needs better management
Parking in the hotel is £15 or £3 on the street directly in front. Bar and restaurant is well decorated but suffered from a lack of staff in the evening and an even worse lack of choice on the menu with many items not available. No lager on tap and only two wines to choose from. I was in a room facing the back which was very hot so opened windows to provide ventilation. However during the night the noise from the ventilation unit right outside was ridiculous - make sure you get a room at the front.

It was a lovely stay at the hotel. Breakfasts need to be improved, food dry and overcooked. Perhaps need more staff to replenish food more frequently as one girl struggled. We have travelled throughout Scotland and experienced wonderful breakfasts elsewhere.
