The location of the Hampton by Hilton Hotel is perfect for someone who wants to stay in central Charlotte Amalie vs in a resort or all inclusive. It's virtually brand new (since August 2025), clean and modern. Staff, especially Margot, was great, the free breakfast was only fair. However, our TV never worked during the entire 4 days 3 nights, and maintenance was unable to fix it after several attempts. We were given a $100 credit but I'm still angry - I like to have access to International News morning and night when I travel. Also, a 'room with a few' means a view of the side of a giant cruise ship most of the time and those ships are VERY loud when they depart. The hotel pool is small - nothing to brag about but very clean. Our room (#215) had a nice walk-in rain shower. Housekeeping is only every other day, but you can request clean towels daily.
Nearby "Yacht Haven Grande" has many high-end stores and restaurants - Indigo and Enkai were my favorites for dinner....about an 8 minute walk from the hotel. Also walkable and nearby - the Skyride cable cars. They are expensive, but the view from the top is spectacular and lunch was pretty good! This hotel is the place to be if you aren't on a cruise ship, a sailboat or in a much more expensive resort.
