Gordons Island Art Loft

Opplev noe annerledes med friluftshjemmet og arbeidsområdet til kunstneren Elbridge S. Gordon. Dette sjarmerende studioloftet er beregnet på de som kan sette pris på en unik boopplevelse, fra høye utsatte takbjelker, til det varme og koselige, men likevel industrielle rommet. Loftet har også en 20 fots åpen veranda med utsikt over Charlotte Amalie havn. Det er fullt utstyrt med sengetøy, håndklær, kokk / servise, kjøleskap, komfyr / stekeovn, kaffetrakter, mikrobølgeovn, vannkoker, brødrister, blender, strykejern, hårføner og strandutstyr. Kabel, Netflix, Blue Ray DVD-spiller og WiFi er også tilgjengelig. Mest unikt og viktigst har loftet originale skisser, fotografier og oljemalerier av Elbridge Gordon! Plassen er også utstyrt med et staffeli, kunstbord og rekvisita for å lage ditt eget øy-inspirerte mesterverk å ta med hjem igjen!

Beautiful views, host provided beach towels, sunscreen, cooler and chairs as well as basic cooking needs. Left art supplies for complementary use. Make sure you get a high clearance car for your stay on the island. Also, it’s hard to get a taxi down from the VRBO so either make sure you have a car or schedule a ride prior to going up. Host was super friendly and communicative.

The house is so unique and the story of her father's life as well as his actual artwork is amazing. The view is really hard to beat and the massive doors to the patio and windows to the bedroom really take advantage of it. My wife really enjoyed the art supplies and the inspiration of being surrounded by art.Sliding open the giant doors every morning to be fully immersed in that view was the best part of the vacation. I could see spending much longer here and not needing to leave the house to do other activities. Just reading, painting and playing cards in the open air, looking out at the islands.Not having air conditioning is doable for us, but might be non-negotiable for others. Due to no AC, you have to sleep with the windows open, which leads to some excessive noise. The noise from the surrounding area is mostly roosters, dogs, and some peeping frog (I believe) that sounded like it was 1 foot from the window and peeped every 5 seconds for roughly 8 hours a night.

Most spacious 1 bedroom accommodation ever. Not only was it fully stocked with dishes, pots etc but also spices and condiments for cooking. The deck overlooking town was great and very private given the distance to other properties. Whenever the power went out the owner fired up the generator. With the location up the mountain the breeze was fine for cooling and there are ceiling fans and floor fans. Would definitely stay there again.

We will definitely stay here again.....

Our stay at Gordon's Island Art Loft was nothing short of fantastic. The breathtaking view from the deck was a constant highlight. The loft provided everything we could have asked for during our week-long visit. We particularly appreciated the open-air design, which, combined with a refreshing breeze and ample ceiling fans, kept the space comfortable despite consistent 85F temperatures. As an artist, my wife was thrilled with the generous supply of art materials. The well-equipped full kitchen allowed us to easily prepare all our meals. Its central location made navigating the island a breeze. We do recommend a vehicle with higher clearance, like a Jeep, as some side roads still bear the impact of recent storms. Without a doubt, Gordon's Island Art Loft deserves an A rating. We eagerly anticipate our next trip to St. Thomas and another stay at this wonderful loft.

i really couldn't have asked for a better place to stay to help celebrate my birthday this year. the view and the property and the loft were spectacular. i was to enjoy the fresh air listen to music read and relax! I cannot wait to come back, because i will definitely be back

Disaster

When we arrived the street was so small to get up their and the road was so damaged if you have car you would have to drive literally 5 to not damage your car and the steps going down into the life had weeds everywhere and dirty and when we got in the rental she had no central air or air conditioner period and it was 95 degrees it was hotter in the rental than outside she had fan everywhere but the didn’t make a difference we tried turning on the fan in the ceiling they didn’t turn on and plus it was two lizards under the picture in the bedroom oh also in the bathroom she has a note on top of the toilet asking you to not flush all the tissue down the toilet due to low water so basically after wiping sometimes put it in th trashcan 😒 and when we told her about the problems we ran into and how we couldn’t stay in a hot rental due to my boyfriend having asthma she responded TWO DAYS LATER and basically said we’re complaining and that we couldn’t get a refund because it took time to prepare for the rental like that’s not what she suppose to do as a host if she were more detailed in her listing i would have understood but no air in 95 degree weather plus lizards in the bedroom nope couldn’t do it and i tried to be as polite as possible but when she said i was complaining it took me to the top

Awesome retreat with a great view

The property is great. Perfect for two people. Awesome view. I did not realize there was no air conditioning, but there are plenty of fans so it didn't bother us. The driveway to get to the place is a bit crazy. Extremely rough. Must have 4 wheel drive. It would be nice if every one that uses the drive would pitch in and fix it. It's really bad.

Amazing tree house experience

Just absolutely an amazing place overall. It was absolutely beautiful. I felt so comfortable and was in awe of the views everyday. It’s a hike driving up the mountain but so worth it. They have done such an amazing job. I highly recommend.

Really enjoyed our stay at the studio! Pros: Very private and nice studio appartment. Very well equipped kitchen. Stunning views from balcony. Enjoyed watching movies in the main room. Cons: Steep and windings road to access property. Consider using mosquito repellent products before going to bed at night.

Incredible, charasmatic property to introduce us to the Islands!

This was our first time visiting the USVI and Gordon's Art Loft was the first place we stayed. It is breathtaking as soon as you walk in--lovely touches, an incredible view, and so much character! The art was a tone-setting addition, and my husband delighted in drawing a little masterpiece with the provided art supplies that we took home with us. We spent sweet nights drinking beer on the balcony and listening to the coki frogs. The kitchen is well equipped and we cooked a bit; the house has lots of courtesy items like aloe vera and lotion that you may find you need. Shenell communicated great with us and the directions she gave were excellent. Overall we were immediately at home, and smitten. Sibs was a great rec! And you're close to town. About the driving: Of the 3 places we stayed on the Virgin Islands, this was the toughest drive. But that isn't to say it's all that hard! You just have to be practical, go slow, stay left, and in a few spots, back up if there's not room for two cars. It's dirt, but it wasn't particularly rutty when we visited in Jan. 2023. If you know how to drive a stick, or can drive camping, or in snow, you're probably going to be fine. If you're a nervous driver, this will probably make you nervous. Know thyself! Protip for those who stay: Park in the first available parking spot. This gives you ample room to turn around when leaving the property. DO NOT attempt to use the nearby driveways as a turnaround point. This is much more difficult.

Hidden Paradise on the mountain

Our experience at Gordon’s loft was exceptional!! This location was remote, but still centralized where everything was a quick 10-15 minute ride away. The loft has a view where you can’t pay for anywhere on the island. No matter where me and my husband went..the view here was better than all the rest. Even the view from the bedroom was priceless. It was quiet, clean and had all the essentials you need while away from home. Very guest friendly. Signage all around to get you to the location and loved the appeal and charm with the lights when arriving…and parking had ample room to maneuver..especially with the island roads. Yes the road to the loft was bumpy but that’s Island life. The art was an added bonus! Enjoyed looking at the art from previous guests and it encouraged me to paint! It was spectacular. Shenell was a phenomenal host. Great communication and great attention to details. There are binders with things to do, notes posted so you know how to use certain items in the loft, and cleaning supplies. We will definitely return! Working in Hotels for 20 years… Shenell knows how to take care of you.

Airy art loft with crazy view of Charlotte Amalie & harbor.

This art loft was one of the better experiences I had on the island while staying recently. It was comfy and airy. Some traveler tips on staying here would be rent a solid AWD or 4x4 vehicle to get here. The road is super bad the last leg of the journey but I promise the view is worth the hike. Also start making ice the moment you get checked in, or grab a bag on the way up. Remember to close the doors and windows at night as well. Pictures of this property don't quite do it justice. The architecture of the building is beautiful and there is impressionist style painting on every wall. You will want to stay in more days that you thought here. Wonderful.

Wonderful week at Gordon Art

We had a fantastic time staying at the Gordon Art Studio. A gorgeous space that is very comfortable and we enjoyed how out of the way it is. Everything you need is there and the view was something we went back to morning and night. We will absolutely stay there again.
