Our vacation was absolutely wonderful, but if I am being honest, there were some annoyances with the rental company.
First of all - the VRBO listing says that beach service begins in March. We received an email a few weeks before our rental that says beach service begins in May. I reached out to the property 3 times to check and see which one was accurate, and they never responded until two weeks AFTER we got home. They said that call volume was high. This property is managed by Vacasa, so we never once spoke to or interacted with an actual human.
(There WAS beach service available in April when we stayed). It is first come, first served.
When we walked in the condo there was a strong smell of mildew. So much so that we bought candles and air freshener spray from the Publix. There was also no broom or dustpan in the unit, so unfortunately we left a messy floor for the housekeeping staff.
The positives are - the unit is HUGE. The location within the complex is excellent - the parking spot is right by the elevator that takes you directly to the room, and the elevator is steps from the pool and the beach access walkway. You can walk to an ice cream shop and a really fantastic family-friendly restaurant, the Old Florida Fish House. And it's a short drive to the Publix. It's also convenient to head to Sandestin or towards Panama City if you're looking for putt-putt, jet skis, go carts, and those types of activities. But this area is very quiet and peaceful and not crowded at all.
