Ikke veldig fornøyd med dette hotelloppholdet. Veldig dyrt for standarden. Et stort flossteppe gjorde at rommet ikke føltes rent.

We had communicated to the hotel on 2 separate occasions concerning our late arrival time which was to be about12:30 am. I was assured that someone would be there to check us in. Our taxi dropped us off on a very dark and deserted street and the door to the hotel was locked, we rang the doorbell and phoned several times but no response. We made our way up the cobbled street to another hotel, they were full but the desk clerk found us a room in another hotel and helped us get there. The next morning we walked back to the Monastery Art Suites, they were surprised that we had problems the night before, because we had booked for 2 nights I asked to see the room we had booked and we were told that someone was in it! We couldn’t believe it. This hotel is in a perfect location in SAN Juan but it desperately needs a makeover and new management.

penthouse stay

Location was perfect, Elevator was out of service so be prepared to walk up steps. The room was clean but needs some repairs. I expected a little more polish And maintenance for the money spent per night. We still had a great stay.

A beautiful hotel and great location. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Keep in mind that there is no elevator if you are unable do stairs. Will definitely stay there again.

The decor was absolutely fascinating. The staff was friendly. We did not have hot water in our room bathroom. All in all it was a good place to stay nice and close to the shopping and historical sites in Old San Juan that we used a taxi only to get to our cruise port.

We were utterly surprised that there was no mention when researching the hotel website that there is no elevator. We stayed in the penthouse and had 10 bags and it was very difficult to bring them up and down with no help from hotel. The rooms look significantly better in the photos than in real life. It feels like the minimum was done to call this a “boutique hotel”. I guess the only good thing I can say is it is in a great location and we loved San Juan. We will definitely be back to Puerto Rico but will be staying somewhere else.

Depends on what you are looking for.

People at front desk were nice. Shower was cold. No hot water. TV was half dark and half light. Bed was comfortable. Loud music until 10 PM. Three flights of stairs to climb with suitcase. Bathroom door would not close completely. Exposed nail on door / danger for cut.

The pictures of the property are beautiful but definitely just for marketing to travelers. The property seemed to be in the process of rehab. Unfinished design. Dirty decorative pillows on the bed (DISGUSTING). Dusty side tables near bed, dusty wardrobe. Dingy floors. Unusable chair, broken leg. Terrible lighting. !!!WAS NOT ALLOWED TO FLUSH TOILET PAPER AND TRASH CAN HAD NO LID!!! The experience was so disturbing, I canceled the remainder of my stay the following morning after “checking in” and booked elsewhere. Note: I was never officially checked in but was given the room key by someone who turned out to be the maintenance guy. Never able to get in contact with the property manager - the travel agency customer service contacted them over seven times with no response until an email 4 days later. Aside from the maintenance guy, there was NEVER ANYONE AT THE DESK -hence why they list “limited” availability for checkin... WOW. Never again. 0 out of 10. Wasted potential.

not what i thought

most definitely not what the pictures showed. It was very old, lots of mosquitoes, looked like it was under construction. hotel did not offer any amenities what so ever. very basic room.i actually thought we made a mistake and checked into a hostel. i would not recommend for those who cant deal with multiple flights of stairs.

Stay away.

Difficult to get in and check in. The hotel is run down. The room was dirty. Dead cockroach on the floor. Water stains ? mold in the room on the ceiling. Broken bureau not usable. Sink would not drain. Toilet plugged. Toilet paper holder broken off. No coffee in the room as promised. No bottled water in the room as promised. No hot water. One day they did not service the room at all. Men’s room dirty. Ladies room no water.

You have to stay here!

We enjoyed a beautiful one night stay at the Monastery Art Suites. The hotel had incredible views and the staff was very helpful and accommodating. We are looking forward to going back soon and spending more time exploring Old San Juan.

Perfect location. We had so much fun! Beautiful rooftop and view! Definitely best spot in old San Juan. Staff is very welcoming and eager to please. The building is very old but it gives a lot of carácter. Definitely not the usual Hilton experience. So if that’s your thing this place is not for you. Overall fun and very different

Check in was smooth and fast. Suite was super spacious and clean! Beautiful view. We had big living room. Big bedroom. Enough closet space. Very comfortable bed. Nice walk in shower. Water pressure was not consinstant but from what I have heard about this old old town it’s not uncommon. Suite was super cool and air conditioner worked well. Quiet at night.

The suite was clean. The staff in the lobby was attentive and welcoming. We where able to check into to the room early without charge. The location of the hotel is amazing. The ballroom is beautiful!

I don't understand how this property has good reviews, they must have been reviewed by friends and family. I have stayed in many hotels in San Juan and around the world, and this is by far the DIRTIEST place I have stayed in!! The paint on the ceiling was peeling and had water stains, the curtains were dirty, and the bed sheets had stains on them. Since there is no one at the front desk after 9pm, there is no security in hotel. Guests in other rooms had music blaring until 1am without consideration for other guests in the property. If that all wasn't bad enough, the morning I checked out, I was walking downstairs with my luggage and I had to step over dog turd that was on the stairs!!!! I probably would have had better accommodations sleeping on a bench in Old San Juan. I AM UTTERLY DISGUSTED THAT THIS PLACE IS IN BUSINESS!!! This place is not worth your money! Stay away.

The hotel is beautifully decorated, the old architecture and pop art is well blended. The staff was absolutely wonderful, and the place very clean. My only disappointment is that didn't have amenities. After walking around San Juan and exhausted from walking, I wish the place have a small pool, or even a hot top where you could relax end enjoy the place. The location is good, however, it is surrounded of loud music from no-so-good restaurants where food and drinks were expensive and terrible. Because there was no amenities, I ended using the hotel room just for sleep and shower, which I could have done it at a more affordable hotel. For what I like to do in San Juan, which is museums and art, next time I will probably stay in a cheeper hotel.
