very nice peaceful resort. staff was very welcoming and i especially enjoyed my time with nandina and the restaurant staff. they gave great reccomendations for activities and complimented my spanish speaking abilities😂

We loved our room at Cassia Hill (#5). It was clean, air conditioned and had a nice view of the grounds, and housekeeping tidied it up daily. There was one attached room in the cabin and there wasn't much soundproofing. The desk staff (Sarli in particular) were very friendly and helpful, and took care of all tour and transportation arrangements for us. The pool was fantastic and we were lucky to have it to ourselves most of the time. The restaurant was good, but we felt it was better to go into San Ignacio for our meals (less expensive and more interesting). The hotel grounds are lovely and peaceful. It's a bit of a pain to walk (15-20 mins along a busy road that is currently under construction) or take a taxi to and from San Ignacio. We felt the place was under utilized, as there are a number of dusty buildings not in use, the bar at the pool wasn't in use, and there was no convenience shop for snacks or other items.

The grounds of this hotel are very nice. Staff is friendly too. Our room was big and updated. Very clean. There is a restaurant on site that was good and convenient when you wanted a small meal or drink. Very beautiful property. Quiet.

I loved how quiet and peaceful this property was. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful. They were extremely helpful. I enjoyed having my own cabin. Everything worked perfectly. We were able to see Toucans, iguanas, Parrot Macaws just while sitting on our deck. We will be staying here again.

excellent property we stayed in the premier bungalows absolutely beautiful . the staff was wonderful , everything is very clean its a 5mn. taxi into the village the breakfast , lunch and dinner is great . wonderful place to stay . will always stay at this place when we return . thank you for the great visit jorge , nela sharon , david from upstate ny

Cassia Hill Resort is a beautiful place, clean and nice , but there were no tourists and restaurant was not open. I spent 2 nights in January - everybody said is in the season, but place looked sad. I understand they can’t keep the reataurant open for just 2 tourists, but at least we could have been informed for limited amenities. If plan to accommodate in Cassia Hill definitely plan to have a rental car

I really liked the atmosphere of the property. It was a very beautiful relaxing place to stay. The lady at the front was kind and helpful. The breakfast was good. The breakfast took about 45 minutes to be ready, so make sure to give plenty of time. I underestimated and had scheduled a nature tour and had to eat fast because my driver was waiting. Also one night the kitchen was closed so we had to eat somewhere else. But the restaraunt area was very nice.

So happy we chose Cassia Hill Resort! Our cabin was clean, quiet, comfortable. Beautiful grounds with a wide variety of plants, birds, and small animals. Excellent restaurant. Loved the infinity pool. Entire staff was friendly, professional, and fun. Thank you for a great time!

Worst amenities
Being a world traveler would not recommend this at all. Eco friendly environments and rugged log cabins are ok. But be prepared for a cold water showers. We didnt not have any hot or warm water during our entire stay. They say one hot water heater supplies 4 cabins and you can imagine after coming back from a full day of tour and tired muscles. They cant fix and wont fix or change your cabins. Money wasted and sore experience They also dont have their own restaurant either. U have to order from a subleased restaurant.

Not great, not bad. Wouldn't stay again.
It was okay. Perhaps it was better at some point in the past. The staff wasn't great, and multiple times the kitchen just flat out said they didn't want to cook. Rooms were very clean, but didn't have a ton of amenities. The grounds were pretty though. Also, the wifi was absolutely awful. Not great when in a country where wifi is likely your only option. Would NOT stay here again.

I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay. We have a breakfast restaurant only and do lunches and dinners only on reservation. Our rooms have such amenities such as a coffee station, mini fridge, and drinking water as mentioned on our page. We would love to hear what other amenities you would suggest we include in our rooms. The internet i must admit was not too strong due to the repairs of our highway and the internet company had the lines down. We do apologize for this.

This place is where you need to stay! Great infinity pool upgraded my room twice since I had to extend my stay while traveling to Tikal. They are over the top above expectation friendly and had a bottle of wine for my wife which greatly appreciated. This hotel is quite at night and on a nature botanic garden

No regreso
Lo escogimos quedaba en el camino de nuestra ruta. No contábamos que había que caminar con maletas hacia las habitaciones, fue muy incómodo caliente. Para moverte al centro debes de pagar taxi, ya que no tiene opciones para comer a distancia de caminar. Cuándo hicimos el chequeo se acordó que nos a las 8:30 de la mañana y aún cuando llamamos eso nunca pasó, tuvimos que salir a buscar desayuno. En la noche se disculparon pero ya era tarde. No volvería. Para hospedarse y salir temprano de ahí para hacer otras actividades cercanas.

This is a great location for someone venturing into Guatemala for the day. We were in Cabin 8 which was perfect for our family. Properties closer to reception look newer. Ask for a low number. The pool is nice after a hot day. There is not a lot of staff so expect to have to look for help at reception and breakfast. Ask if your breakfast is included in your stay. The breakfast is expensive for what is included. There is a grocery store less than 1/2 mile into town.

We booked on Expedia based on local friends recommendations. Unfortunately we didn’t realize until after our 2 night stay was over that there are two parts to this resort. The part that our friends recommended which are new modern gorgeous villas And the old cabin section. We stayed in cabins that were not very clean, very old, smelled bad, uncomfortable beds and the duvets on bed had spots and were not clean. Being our first visit and from Canada we did not want to complain and did our best to have a good time. It was disappointing on the morning of checkout to take a different path and come across these new beautiful villas we could have stayed in. When I asked why they had not been offered as an option even after we requested a fridge which we thought we were getting based on our Expedia booking, we were told it was our own fault we didn’t ask. How can you ask for something you don’t know is an available? The staff was very professional and the property and pool lovely. My point is not to complain as much as to advise others to book the villas unless you love old rustic buildings and enjoy camping. 😬

Hi Mark, I am sorry that you did not view the various room options when booking through Expedia, which offers our guests different categories of rooms Our cabins are larger rooms that can host up to five persons which was equipped for your family of four they have all been upgraded to an antique rustic finish. The smell which you experienced is the scent of our polished wood. We are in the tropics and we experience a lot of humidity which also contributes to the old wood scent. Our villas which you saw are more modern buildings which can only sleep 2 persons and those have different amenities and of course different price. We also extended a discount to you for the extra persons charge to best accommodate you. I am sorry that we did not meet your expectations and hope that if you ever return to us we could host you in one of our premier villas or our family room.

Cassia Hill was GORGEOUS. The buildings were lovely, the house was perfect. The outdoor shower attached to the bathroom was an incredible bonus. The grounds themselves were living gardens with wild iguanas on site and howler monkeys directly behind in the jungle/forest area next to the property. We had slow internet but they were quick to address and solve it. We arrived in the "rainy season" so slower season in July but it didn't rain. The restaurant was undergoing roof repair so wasn't in operation but we found a few very good restaurants nearby in San Ignacio. Very close to the Xunantunich Mayan ruins. The pool was awesome. The only not-so-awesome part is that it is near a major road so certain times during the day we could hear the car traffic. Throughout the town of San Ignacio they were burning trash pretty much constantly while we were there and the smell and air quality was really tough to get used to. Overall we enjoyed our stay and much appreciated the oasis and friendly faces that Cassia Hill provided for our family.

We loved Cassia Hill! There is a lovely pool, the location is perfect since it’s super close to town, but still quiet. The staff were all very friendly and helpful for giving us information and setting us up with our excursions.
