Summary:

This completely remodeled, air conditioned 3BR, 2BA gem is a stunner! With brand new wood floors, a sparkling white kitchen, modern appliances and a private outdoor space -- you'll never want to leave your beach vacation!



The Space:

Mermaid Cove is a modern beach oasis, located just two blocks from the sand and salt waters of Mission Bay. It is a completely private, detached guest house with a car port and two parking spots available. There are two Smart TVs, an open concept living room and kitchen, pristine bathroom with floor to ceiling tile, an outdoor dining set up (complete with brand new BBQ grill) and the perfect, coastal bright & airy feel. There are two bedrooms in the "main" house: the master (queen bed) and the guest room (twin over full bunk beds). The third bedroom is detached (queen bed) and has its own bathroom & shower. There is free laundry onsite. Take a five minute stroll down to the water and experience all the vibrant San Diego bayside has to offer, from bike rentals to kayaking and paddle boarding!



Guest Access:

Check-in is completely contactless, and you will have your own private entrance. The owners of Mermaid Cove live in the front house separated by a fence, and interaction is not necessary (unless you want to say hello!).



Getting Around:

Looking for a way to get around Mission/ Pacific Beach during your stay? We've partnered with a local company, PB Golf Cart Rentals, that offers daily rentals in a customized Golf Cart. Whether you need it for the day, the weekend, or the week, they've got you covered. With flexible pricing and local pickup & drop-off, you’re minutes away from riding around San Diego in style. Other Things to Note:

For stays longer than 30 days, I require a deposit in the amount of one month's rent to be paid offline due 60 days prior to arrival as well as a formal lease agreement.



Beach Equipment: despite the inclusion of snorkeling gear, we do not offer it at our rentals

Check-in is virtual, as you'll be provided with a digital Guest Portal and a personalized door code. Vacation Rentals by Aaron is a full-service property management company, and will be available 24-7 in case you need anything during your stay.

The location is fantastic, but that’s where it ends. The house is tiny and split into separate units, so at least one adult will likely have to sleep in the detached garage. The bedroom doors are extremely narrow — if you’re carrying a child, it’s very easy to bump into walls. Soundproofing is essentially nonexistent: even quiet cooking in the kitchen will wake anyone trying to sleep behind closed doors.The “bunker bed” is really for kids only; adults won’t fit. If you have two adults needing separate beds, one is forced into the garage. At 600/night, this is just not worth it.Amenities are minimal: cheap appliances, no cable TV (good luck finding live sports), missing basics like aluminum foil. In short: great location, but for the price, the compromises are significant.

We had a terrible experience here. This property might not be for you if you are going on vacation looking for comfort such as bed comfort, privacy especially in the bathroom, cough comfort/ free of smell and more space. We selected this property due to the reviews and wanted a close place to the beach and mostly clean property to rest. It was 2 adults and 3 kids under the age of 12. We arrived late at night (close to 1030 pm) last Tuesday and we noticed: 1. The house is actually in the back of his house/ another space attached to the actual home which is smaller than what I was excepting.2. The couch and beds have strong body odor smells that made it impossible to sleep or sit down and relax.3. Bathroom has an uncovered window which faces another window which I’m assuming the owner’s home window! It was above the bathtub but every time you enter that bathroom you wonder who is watching? Not ok for a mom with 3 kids.4. Bed make noises every tosses and turns which is disruptive to sleep.Owner was pleasant at first but once I started pointed out issues he got defensive/ silent. I had to involve vrbo. He did not reimburse even1/4 of the cost since we did not last there for more than 12 hours. We checked out the very next day before 10am though we have booked for 4 nights.

Great Location in Pacific Beach

The hosts of this property made everything easy from booking through check-in (and out). They were easy to get in touch with, and have a website with all of the information pertinent to your stay.The property is in a great location near Pacific Beach. You can walk to Sail Bay in under 5 minutes, and Pacific Beach in under 10. Our family liked the bigger waves in Pacific Beach.On the walk, you pass any number of restaurants, coffee shops, and gift shops. Our favorite little find on the way back from the beach was Pacific Beach Ice Cream Co. There are plenty of places around to buy groceries as well, which I'd recommend since eating out near the beach for every meal can be expensive.If you do decide to buy groceries, the kitchen is well appointed and easy to cook in. There's a gas range, a large fridge, and any utensils needed. You can also cook outside on the grill. There's a great outdoor dining area that was well suited for our family of 5.The house itself was a great fit for us as well. Our youngest two children split the room with a bunk bed, and the oldest enjoyed the privacy of the little casita that has it's own bathroom. The laundry room has all of the things you need to make the beach fun. There are chairs, umbrellas, toys, and boogie boards. The house also has a supply of beach towels.My only suggestion is blackout curtains in the main bedroom because its bright when the neighbor's flood lights come on. Small complaint for an overall great stay.

Very nice & clean property in a fun location. The rooms were perfect for our group (mom, dad, and boys age 17 & 20) would also be excellent for multi gen travel or all adults. The 3rd bedroom is detached from the main house so not great if you have smaller kids. The hosts provided everything we needed including beach towels and chairs, boogie boards, games and more. Check in was easy but I had to have the instructions resent via text. Vrbo messages do not link to check-in instructions. Property manager was very quick and helpful. Easy walk to beach, even easier walk to Mission Bay. Restaurants, & groceries all in walking distance. Would 100% here stay again.

Fantastic House

We had a great stay here with our 4 and 1 yo. An easy walk to the beach and a lot of restaurants. The host was extremely responsive and helpful, even on a Sunday. 10/10 no complaints.

Fantastic in every way!

Mermaid cove is a perfect getaway for those looking to take in all San Diego has to offer. The Casita gave privacy for my teen. The main apartment had everything for us to make delicious meals after shopping at the farmers markets. We could walk to the beach and it was a quick drive to all the city sights. The decor is immaculate and tasteful. Truly a gem. We can’t recommend it enough!

Excellent property! Perfect location! Responsive host!

Aaron was a great host! Communication was excellent and he was always quickly responsive to questions. House was extremely clean, well stocked, and organized. Our 18 year old son loved having his own "house" in the detached sleeping area and bathroom. The bay is a close 5 minute walk and the boardwalk is about 10 minutes.

Great space for a family

Overall, this was a good stay. We were travelinging with our almost 3 year old and my sister, so we used all the rooms. It was super convenient to have a separate room for my daughter as well as a bit of a separated space for my sister. The overall space was clean. The bunk bed was great for my daughter and she slept incredibly well. We bought an inflatable side bumper for a little more peace of mind for her not falling out. She slept on both the top and bottom and absolutely loved the flexibility. The beds in the main room and the guest house were not the most comfortable, which was a bit tough after a long day out. But not so uncomfortable that you couldn't sleep. While the overall space was clean, we did realize a little too late in our stay that the AC was causing some issues in the guest house, exacerbating allergies. We did let the property manager know and they were responsive immediately. It was great having a communicative and responsive property manager. Overall amenities were good. I love the outdoor space. It was really relaxing. The proximity to things was perfect. You could walk if you wanted to spend a bit of time outside, and you could drive and find paid parking if walking was not an option. We had a great time at this property. I would highly recommend it to those looking for a stand alone property with space for a small family.

Walking distance to Mission Bay and the beach and lots of restaurants and activities, this is a clean home in a great neighborhood. We enjoyed our stay here. Communication with the Property manager via text & email was excellent - just the right frequency/timing with all the information we needed.

Amazing location. Amazing communications.

First of all let me say that communications with the host was top shelf. From pre-booking until checkout, the host was quick to respond. I asked for a special request prior to booking and the host was accommodating. I was really surprised but thankful the request was honored. Getting into the property was easy and the instructions were accurate. The inside was exactly as described. It did get a little cramped at time for 5 people but we were out and about a lot so it was fine. The kitchen is well stocked. A few of the burners were not turning on but the stove is very big so it didn’t matter. We notified the host but didn’t need them fixed. The beds and linens were perfect. The location is perfect. Easy walk to the beach. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. We would come back here for sure.

Cozy Cottage in Pacific Beach

We had a fantastic stay at this vacation rental in San Diego! The place was spotlessly clean and well-maintained, making it a comfortable retreat. Its location was perfect—just a short walk to the beach, even shorter walk to the bay, shopping areas, and a variety of restaurants. We loved being so close to all the fun activities that San Diego has to offer, from exploring the local attractions to enjoying the vibrant nightlife. The host was exceptional—super responsive and helpful from the moment we booked until the end of our stay. Excellent Stay in N. Mission Bay

All communication was proactive and clear. Check-in was digital and seamless. The property is beautiful, clean, private, and exactly as listed. The nearest grocery store is less than a mile away, as are the bay and the beach in a very walkable and very friendly neighborhood. We've stayed in many rentals in many areas of San Diego and North County, and this one was exceptional. We will definitely stay again!
