Exceptional location
The property is just as pictured in the listing and is beautiful. Communicating with the property manager was a bit of a challenge. They list a phone number but if you don't have a working cell phone when you land, the number is useless. They suggest communicating by WhatsApp and that is fine, as long as you have the internet, which you will not have in your vehicle. So, coordinating with the manager on arrival was a bit of a problem while in transit. The road to the property needs grading as it is full of potholes and is in rough shape. The TV in the main room was a bit complicated to operate (2 remotes) but the manager was very accommodating and was able to get it working. All in all, the home is lovely, the location exceptional and we enjoyed our visit.

So glad you were thrilled with the house and the Location! That is what is most important. In THE RENTAL INFORMATION PAGES…It is recommended that at least one person have a data package on their cell, so that communication can take place out side of WiFi..ie.driving from the airport to meet the property manager. Every year, after the rainy season, the municipality grades and and puts gravel down on the road. With regard to the TV and the two remotes….one turns the FIOS on and the other controls the TV….

Our stay
Having been attracted by the numerous positive feedback comments about Libelula prior to booking the property for our own holiday, (and I am quite thorough in my research) I can now give my own thoughts; if you are considering booking this, you've found the right place. You will not be disappointed. It was a privilege to stay there. The amenities available to you are comprehensive, the configuration and location is perfectly idyllic, the diverse wildlife often on view within the garden itself a joy to behold. The owner and rental company were very attentive to our every need and responded to us in a very timely manner on any query we might have and the property is suitable for all ages. I'm now of an age where I do now have a bucket list of destinations I would like to go to. If ever anyone were to compile a bucket list of properties you should stay at before you die, Libelula would have to be on it. In short a dream home with a spectacular view. An absolute privilege to stay there. I very much hope i have the opportunity to return in the future.

A SPECTACULAR GEM - PRIVATE SETTING
We were in AWE everyday as dawn broke over the spectacular view and the jungle woke up. We marveled at the up close observations & sounds we encountered with the monkeys as they moved through the trees. Nature paraded a daily show with 55 different birds, dragon flies, butterflies, black spiny tailed iguanas, a racoon mama & babies, coatimundi and really cool stick bugs. It was MAGICAL!!! This beautiful home is perfectly located, spacious, comfortable, welcoming and perfect for two couples. We appreciated the well-stocked kitchen and enjoyed our meals on the gorgeous outdoor table. The rocking chairs add a very comfortable vibe of Costa Rican authenticity. It's evident Kristina & Jim want their guests to have a wonderful experience. They have thoughtfully provided so many extras - reference books for all flora and fauna, pool floaties, beach chairs, beach umbrellas, boogie boards, towels and coolers & a propane BBQ. Our three weeks at LIBELULA provided an unforgettable fun & relaxing vacation with our best friends! Thank you Kristina & Jim for sharing your beautiful home with us! We would book this place again without hesitation! PURA VIDA! PS one evening we hired personal chef Raquel through Samara Rentals to prepare an amazing meal at the house. Playa Camaronal at the Camaronal Wildlife Refuge is a wilder, black sand beach with amazing driftwood sculptures on the beach- 20 min drive past Carillo. Well worth the trip.

When you’re sitting in twenty below temps, dreaming of your tropical vacation, and your mind conjures up this vision of the perfect hacienda, this place is the epitome of that vision. The pictures seem too good to be true. They aren’t. Pictures can’t begin to fully express how amazing this place is. Every detail has been considered in the design and construction. Do yourself a favor, and stop searching. You’ve found the place.

Samara Beach Visit
Thank you for sharing your wonderful home with us. The view is absolutely incredible. We all loved the pool. Howler monkeys were in the trees next to the home. Our family of four made great memories in the home over Christmas! The area was fun as well. We enjoyed the beach at Playa Carrillo and did a fun kayak/snorkeling trip at Isla Chora off the Samara Beach. Kristina and the team at Samara Rentals were very responsive to our questions and needs. Thanks again!

Amazing views and amazing property!
This house was spectacular from the moment we walked in the door! The views are absolutely stunning where you can see both Carrillo and Samara. The patio and infinity pool were amazing. The house is beautifully decorated, beds are extremely comfortable, and it has all the amenities you will need to cook in your own space! The property managers at Samara Rental were very accommodating, vey quick to respond, and took excellent care of us! We would book this home again in a heartbeat! Thank you for allowing us to share your beautiful home, we could not of asked for a better place to stay!

Dream vacation
We loved everything about our stay here. When you first walk in and see the view you just get goosebumps. It is so beautiful! The house had everything we needed, and AC worked great (worth paying extra). The house is very conveniently located within 5 minutes from the town and the beach. Can't imagine staying at a different place if we ever visit Samara again!

Dream House
A dream place, everything was perfect. Jim and Kristina take care of their guests and ensure that they are comfortable and have a good time. The Villa is exceptional with a view of the Ocean, plus this villa is spacious and has everything what you need to have a dream stay. The rooms are comfortable, the kitchen is super functional and the environment is spectacular. It really is a dream house where it is good to spend quality time. All-around excellent house/location
Wonderful property. I don't have much to add to all the other reviews: incredible view, house has everything we needed, quiet location yet close to everything you need, and responsive and friendly communication with everyone involved. My family of 5 thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would return in a heartbeat. And Samara is a fabulous area from which to discover this part of Costa Rica.

Paradise

Wish I Could Give More than 5 Stars
As soon as we walked through the door, the vista took our breath away. The listing photos are quite accurate, but to experience this place and view cannot be captured in mere photos. Stunning. Kitchen is very well equipped. Our host communicated well and emphasized the need for a 4X4 vehicle, as many reviews have noted. The town of Samara is 10 minutes away, but it is not really walkable. Winding roads would be dangerous on foot. One of the great things about renting this space is the Property Manager Samara Rentals. Once the owner put us in touch with our contact Jair, everything was taken care of. Communication with him (through WhatsApp) was great. He arranged the car rental for us and all of our excursions, which were led by Samara Adventures (also fabulous). We were picked up and delivered to our front door for all of our excursions - horseback riding, snorkeling, dolphin & sea turtle watching, Rio Celeste, Sloth Preserve,Zip Lining and Springs. Everything was just perfect. But it all started with Villa Lebelula. It is one of the most beautiful homes in the area, and it's proximity to Samara makes it perfect. You can be on top of the world, looking out at the Ocean Vista in your private paradise, and then get in the car and go to Samara in minutes for dining at any number of restaurants. Plenty to choose from. And the beach at Samara was gorgeous. Great expanse of beach, not crowded, restaurants nearby, and clean, warm Pacific Ocean water. I hope to come back!

5-Star Property and Experience!
Our vacation at Libelula was first-rate. The view is breathtaking, the home is clean and beautiful, and it has all of the amenities you need to feel right at home. Kristina was a gracious hostess and Leo and the Samara Rentals staff went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was enjoyable. The people in Samara were all so kind and we just loved the town and all of the adventures that it had to offer. We thought we would venture outside of Samara more than we did, but did not need to travel far from the house to enjoy ziplining, surfing, wildlife viewing and fishing. Chef Lucia cooked a 5-star meal for us after a day of fishing that was as beautiful as it was delicious. Great home, great people, great hostess, great town. We hope to visit again soon!

Costa Rican Paradise
This property is in an excellent location - far enough away from the bustle of Samara and overlooking the entire beauty of the area. You do not need to leave the property to have a relaxing and enjoyable vacation. The house has everything one needs to recharge and relax. It is quiet and comfortable. The house has an excellent property manager as well who is helpful with everything from house details to things to do in the area. It was through him we have made some great friends.

Beautiful Property
I would stay here again! The owners of the property was very helpful from the time of booking until the day of checkin. The manager of the property made sure we enjoyed every minute of our stay upon arrival. The location was close to the beach and town. We could walk to everything needed. The pictures on this page does no justice to how amazing the views are. I cannot wait to bring my family back here. SN: a 4x4 suv is needed to get up the hill to the property I don’t recommend getting a car.

Paradise
airport on paved roads. Wayz app provided good directions to town but finding place was a bit challenging as prpty mgmt office was hard to find. Leo communicated well and led us up to house. Recommend 4x4 as driveway and other destination areas are rocky & unpaved. The house was beyond our expectations. Walking through the front doors you immediately see the pool, ocean, flora, and Chora island. Samara beach is beautiful and felt very safe. Lots of restaurants, stocked supermarkets, and unique gift shops. Samara Adventures and Wingnutz provided adventurous, safe, and fun excursions. People are amazing! We also had Raquel prepare a delicious dinner one night, and it was by far one of the best meals of the trip. The house was clean with a stocked kitchen, safes available for use, and locked gates and entry way. Highly recommend and would love to return in the near future!

This home is truly spectacular!
The view from this home is the best I have ever experienced!! The back patio area is huge and so private. What a way to wake up daily and take in the view while relaxing in the rocking chairs. You can see Samara and Carillo beaches with the sweeping view. We loved cooling off in the pool enjoying a cocktail after a long walk on the beach. The kitchen had everything and more to prepare meals and snacks from the wonderful food at the markets and grocery store. The town felt very safe and had many delicious restaurants to choose from. The locals are so friendly and helpful and we felt right at home. Highly recommend this villa!!!

Amazing!!!
My husband and I had an amazing experience. The house is gorgeous… very comfortable, incredible view, peaceful. We worked with the Samara Rentals team to book experiences during our trip, and they were so helpful!! Chef Raquel came to the house and cooked 4 separate meals for us (her dishes were delicious!!). They also helped us book an in home massage therapist that set up right on the gorgeous patio. Outside the home, they helped us book our rental car and activities such as surf lessons. We loved this trip and house, and will definitely be back!

Breathtaking Views
Simply put we were in paradise. Arriving at Casa Libelula was literally like something out of dream — that’s how spectacular the view is — and it never gets old. Amenities and space were exactly as we expected based on the listing and the rental staff — Leonardo and Raquel were always available to provide assistance or answer questions. If you’re looking for a laid back, well amenitized family rental, this is your spot!

Special place, beautiful views, wonderful people
We spent over two weeks at Casa Libélula and it was the perfect hub for our Guanacaste visit. Great space for our family of five. Beautifully designed home and the view is simply spectacular. You need a 4x4 during rainy season for the last part of the road to the house - part of the beauty of backing up to a reserve - love those howler monkeys! We debated between Nosara and Samara and the longer we stayed in Samara, we knew it was the perfect spot for our time in Costa Rica. Nosara is more luxurious, but Samara is that low key beach town with great restaurants and the kindest people. It is true the more you stay in Samara the more you don’t want to leave. Kristina was incredibly communicative and helpful prior to the trip, with Samara Rentals and Leo coordinating on the ground during our stay. Would absolutely stay again. Thank you!

Spectacular View in Samara
We really enjoyed our stay - the view here is spectacular and our family enjoyed the small plunge pool and lovely outdoor space. The set up was ideal with a well equipped kitchen, chairs, floats and boogie boards to take to the beach, and plenty of room for us all to spread out. The road to the house is steep and rough, but its not far at all to town (but certainly farther than we would have wanted to walk) and we enjoyed the proximity while still having peace and quiet at home. The property managers were very nice, helpful and responsive. We had a great trip!

Beautiful serenity
The house was beautifully decorated and has an amazing view from every room of the house. We were so grateful to see all of the birds, butterflies, lizards, Kotis… right from the rear patio. We were also lucky enough to see the howler monkeys along the driveway routinely. This home is very private and well acquainted. Perfect little dipping pool to cool off in with an amazing view. The management company was absolutely amazing!!!! They were very responsive to our needs and questions as well as helpful in so many ways with our outings/desires during our stay. This was not our first time to Samara nor was it our first short stay home we have rented there… this was by far our favorite home and management company to work with!!! We would be honored to stay there again next time.

Lovely home with incredible view!
Overall, the home is very nice. The layout is perfect and the location is exceptional. Interior is a little dated but extremely functional and served as a wonderful place for our stay. While the location is exceptional, getting there can be a little tricky traversing some steep areas of dirt and rocky road so make sure you have an SUV. Still, would highly recommend this place.

Dream vacation home.
This property exceeded all our expectations. The first thing you see when you enter is the breathtaking view. The high quality construction and furnishings are the next things that stand out. We enjoyed the sparkling clear pool with the view, so relaxing. We were just a short drive (less than 10 minutes) to amazing beaches and great beach restaurants. I would highly recommend this property to everyone!!!

The Most Incredible View, a Lovely House, Great Service
The property manager rep. met us in town and guided us up to the house. It is not too far up and the road is decent but you probably want a 4WD for at least part of it. When you walk in the door and through to the back patio you can see a sweeping, open view of the hill, the beaches below, the little bay, the jungle covered peninsula jutting out, the rocky islands, and beyond for miles. You are nestled in the jungle on one side that is in natural conservation. Birds, butterflies, reptiles, a grey fox, white faced and howler monkeys, and a couple of local cats. A troupe of howlers slept in a tree close enough that we got lots of great photos, but also they woke up early and threw/dropped stuff on the roof, pretty loud. The pool is small but nice for cooling off and chilling and watching the view below and beyond. Our host was helpful, chill, friendly, and there when we needed him (the safe can be a bit tricky). It was a great base to explore the local area. Sheriffs has the best casado and fried snapper I had anywhere in Costa Rica. We loved our stay here and would love to come back.

Epic Samara Villa
Best views in Samara, perfect setting in the jungle and extremely comfortable and clean home. Leo, the property manager, was so helpful. Everything about our stay was memorable and we hope to be back! Would recommend this house to anyone!!

Great views
First a few minor negatives. The drive from the airport is two solid hours but only 48 miles. Speed limits average around 30-40 mph and you always get stuck behind a scooter going 25 mph for MILES. Not the owners fault but a factor. As others said, the road to the house is ROUGH and very hard to find as there are no streets signs and few street lights. Highly recommend an SUV and not a regular car. Our rental car bottomed out no matter how hard I tried to stay out of the deep ruts. Lastly, I must have missed it but you have to pay $10 per day extra for each room you want AC in. We had three bedrooms so it was an additional $30/day that I didn’t expect. The living room, kitchen and bathroom do not have AC. Still, you can open the wall of doors and get some air circulation so it was fine. It also would have been nice to have toilet paper in the house as there was only a half roll when we arrived so we had to go back to town to get a few rolls. As a vacation property owner myself, I am probably a little more critical so bear that in mind. Now the good stuff: Very clean. Beautiful views, very modern home, gorgeous pool, lots of monkeys and iguanas and even a small non-venomous snake came by to visit. Good WiFi, great responsive property manager who hooked us up with a Covid testing company who sent a tech to us and gave us the test right there at the house and gave us our results within a few hours. $55 each. The restaurants were excellent with great food. Recommend El Gustos. The mask rule is strictly enforced in nearly all stores and shops, even though we were all vaccinated months ago, we dutifully wore our face diapers when shopping. The beaches are clean and inviting. The people are very friendly and welcoming. All in all, I still rate it at 5 stars as most of the issues we had were not the owners fault. I doubt we will return, mainly due to the drive from the airport but still, it’s gorgeous and off the beaten path and a great place to stay.

Just want to say thank you so much for the review and the five stars! Yes, I agree the drive, the roads and the scooter are out of our control. The drive from the airport can be slow at times but the scenery is fantastic! The other day my husband and I had horses in front of us! Once in a while it will be cows! Once a year the roads are regraded but that takes place in the dry season. I am sorry you missed the information about the AC charges, it is explained at the bottom of the description of the home on the VRBO site as well as explained in the Rental Information package that I sent you. It is common practice here to have this when renting a home.. . because of the extremely high cost of electricity. In Costa Rica only the bedrooms are air conditioned…as all homes are built for out door open to the outside living. We do apologize for the toilet paper issue..that is very unusual…it has been addressed. Again thank you for all the information and I am glad you enjoyed !

Wonderful Stay!
Our family of four adults really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful house. We spent mornings and evenings on the patio enjoying the gorgeous views. A family of howler monkeys came by one evening and put on a show! The drive up takes some getting used to as has been noted by others, but we didn’t have any issues. I highly recommend this house and hope to be back soon!

Beautiful Getaway in Paradise
We absolutely loved our stay at Casa Libélula! The views are even better in person. The house is up in the hills and tucked away and feels very private which we loved. Kristina was really helpful answering all of my questions leading up to the trip and once we were there Leo the property manager helped us get settled and gave us great recommendations for activities and tours. Very happy we got a rental per Kristina's suggestion and I would definitely recommend an SUV for the roads. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back. The excellent reviews are 100% accurate!

Samara villa
The house was perfect. The view was stunning. The best part of the day was opening the sliding window/wall and having morning coffee looking at the ocean sunrise. The best part of the vacation was hanging out at home. I have stayed in vrbo rentals all over the world and this property is one of the best.

First Class
The breathtaking, panoramic views from the terrace and bedrooms are the best part of this amazing home. The one-of a kind architecture makes every part of the home very cozy while every room has access to spectacular ocean views and beautiful landscaping . The owners spared no expense to make this a first class retreat for anyone who loves quality and value all rolled into one. My new bride and I stayed here for our honeymoon. Everything was perfect. Wonderful Property
This was our second time staying at Villa Libelula. The property is beautiful, and the views are amazing, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Our favorite thing to do was sitting on the back patio in the evening, watching the sun go down and listening to the howlers. The owner Kristna is wonderful to work with, and the property manager, Leonardo, was very accommodating and attentive. We will be returning to this property yearly!
