Spring 2022: After two years of renovations, a vacation rental is finally ready! This 83-square-meter guesthouse, facing due south in this 19th-century house, is located right next to Pugnac—specifically in Saint-Vivien-de-Blaye—in the heart of the countryside in a small village atop a hill, away from traffic. In the photo, the vacation rental is on the right side of the house (the rest of the building has not yet been renovated).
On the first floor of the vacation rental, there is a kitchen (13.5 m²), a large living room (25 m²), a sitting room with a sofa bed, a half-bath, a bathroom with a bathtub, and a pantry. Remote work is possible from the living room, which is equipped with a 4G+ Wi-Fi router and an Ethernet cable (the router can be moved to another room). Upstairs, there are two bedrooms (one measuring 12 m², the other 8 m², each furnished with a 140 x 200 bed featuring a comfortable, medium-firm spring mattress). At the back of the garden, there is a small parking area and an outdoor kitchen for barbecuing (see photo), which can certainly be used year-round. Behind the house, facing north, there is a small courtyard where you can find some cool relief during the hot summer days. Guests are asked to leave the property as clean as it was upon arrival.
I am happy to welcome guests in a friendly atmosphere and recommend activities in the surrounding area or throughout the Bordeaux region.
Saint-Vivien is a rural town in northern Bordeaux, with very little urban development but close to all amenities in neighboring towns or nearby cities (Bourg and Blaye, 15 kilometers away; Libourne and Bordeaux, about 40 kilometers away). Numerous walking trails are just a stone’s throw from the cottage, winding through forests and vineyards. There is also a marked fitness trail less than 200 meters from the house. Many winemakers invite you to taste and purchase local products (some from organic farms).
Less than 30 minutes away, you can explore Saint-André-de-Cubzac, the birthplace of Commander Cousteau, and its Montalon site with panoramic views of Bordeaux and the Dordogne River, the medieval village of Bourg-sur-Gironde, the Gironde Estuary and its coastal road, and Blaye and its citadel. Further east lie Libourne, Pomerol, and Saint-Émilion, and to the south, Bordeaux. Even further away are the Arcachon Basin and the ocean, as well as the Médoc, which can also be reached directly by taking the ferry from Blaye across the estuary.
