Welcome to Harbor Hideaway! Take in the magical panoramic view, as far as the eye can see, featuring sounds of the ocean water and seabirds flying overhead - all while relaxing on a charming covered back porch or swinging on a hammock.

Recently renovated and beautifully decorated, with a coastal aesthetic and comfy vibes making you feel right at home.

This three-bedroom home offers a brand new kitchen, fully equipped, with new Stainless Steel appliances, spa bathrooms, a large porch with a screened-in area and a separate deck area for grilling, as well as an open and spacious floor plan.

The living room features two sliding doors creating a glass wall allowing for views from all angles. In addition to the 55" HD TV with streaming options, the electric fireplace is a fun way to create ambiance and warmth if needed.

There's plenty of entertainment at the house if staying in. Grab a book to read, play a few board games, enjoy the backyard fire pit, watch TV in any of the rooms, enjoy a home-cooked meal at our 8-person dining table, or simply sink into the couch and take a nap.

A unique and authentic Lowcountry destination in a small, relaxed, country neighborhood. Although very private, 'Hunting Island State Park Beach' is a less than 10 minute drive away, which offers public beach access. We will provide a "Park Passport" which will allow unlimited entry for everyone in vehicle (otherwise there is a fee to enter the park).

In addition to the beach, Downtown Beaufort is roughly 20 minutes away, South Carolina's 2nd oldest city (a mini-Charleston with its own distinctive charm). Explore the history, restaurants, galleries, and shops in this quaint and charming town.

GUEST ACCESS & NEIGHBORHOOD DESCRIPTION:
1. The house is NOT in a gated or resort community, however it is in a "private waterfront community", where the island is surrounded by a wildlife sanctuary. We do not have a dock.

2. Upon entering the property, expect to drive roughly 100 yards on a dirt road.

3. The neighborhood is rural and secluded. Feel free to walk or bike around the neighborhood, but there are no sidewalks. House is not within walking distance to restaurants or retail shops.

SECURITY:
1. We have a SimpliSafe security system you may choose to use during your stay. We also have a camera located above the garage with a view of the driveway area, that will be in use during your stay.

This was our second time staying here. We just love the house! It is decorated very nice with an open concept and also very comfortable. Our favorite place was the screened- in-porch where we could take in the beautiful river view. It was so peaceful. We also went to Hunting Island State park where we went to the beach every day. We hope we can come again next year!

We had a really nice stay in this home. The open floor plan made the house feel very spacious. Furniture and beds were comfy. The kitchen was pretty well-stocked with necessary items. I enjoyed the books that had been left at the house (history books on the surrounding area and a bird identificaton guide). The screened-in porch was a favorite place for morning coffee. If you love watching birds, you will not be disappointed! There's a pair of binoculars at the house for the best views. I had been looking forward to seeing the marsh horses and hadn't realized they were removed from the area. That was a bit of a bummer. My dog enjoyed going on long walks around the neighborhood; it was quiet and peaceful. Be sure to bring bug spray, as the mosquitoes could be brutal on some of our evening walks. You should definitely visit Hunting Island State Park and use the provided car pass. It is a beautiful beach and never crowded. If you want to stay for the day, bring your own cooler (there's not one at the house) and beach chairs. There are some chairs provided at the house, but they were not in good shape. Communication with the owner was excellent. He responded immediately to any questions/concerns. I appreciated that!Overall, we had a nice stay at this rental. I would consider staying here again in the future.

The rental was as advertised and had everything we needed for our 2 week stay. We brought our dog and the quiet neighborhood was perfect for her. The views were the highlight from the screened in porch where we sat daily. Beds were comfortable and the house was laid out well for our family of 4 (adult children). We drove to Hunting Island State Park daily and often returned in the evening with our dog. It was beautiful and allowed us a relaxing time away.

Great views

The house had a great view and the screen porch really let us enjoy it. Loved the screen porch! The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed and then some. The furniture and beds were all comfortable after long days exploring the area. The listing and confirmation message we got with our entry code all still say that there are still horses, this is untrue. The only updated information on that is in the book inside the house. I didn’t NEED to see horses but it was a disappointment since I kept reading that we would be able to. There was a slight technical issue with the door keypad one night but it, luckily, wasn’t a big deal because Austin helped quickly with getting it sorted out so that we could get inside. My feedback would be, bring your own pillows as the ones provided were sparse. Also, there is no recycling at the house and the nearby recycling centre wouldn’t allow visitors to drop anything off. There’s plenty of parking area but be prepared to navigate a mud hole in the middle of the drive way. Other than these small details every thing was updated, clean, and very spacious. If I come to visit Beaufort again I will definitely stay here again!

Relaxing Hideaway

This property is as advertised, clean, stocked with all essentials, and an extra touch for the little details that were much appreciated. We, husband and small dog, had a wonderful stay watching the tide all day. My favorite place was the screened porch. We used the pass to go to Hunting Island. We ate at Seaside Bar and Grill, right down the road, and the best fried shrimp I've ever had. We went to Gay's Fish Market several times to pick up fresh catch for supper. A very relaxing hideaway. Peaceful and relaxing

Our second time staying here. Although we had 5 days of rain we still had a great stay. Just sitting on screened porch and the beautiful view and watching the birds. We had 2 days of sunshine and ventured out to local places. Great time!

Perfect Oasis

We had the best week escaping from the hustle of daily life. The house and location were perfect, equipped with everything we needed. The screen porch was so enjoyable and serene. Peaceful and comfortable

Sitting in the screened porch and watching the tide go out and the shorebirds hanging out on the pier next door was wonderful. We enjoyed the short drive to Hunting Island and spend many hours there hiking and walking the beach. Location is great. We took a day trip to Savannah, which was thronged with tourists, and after being in the quiet and peace of the cottage we couldn't wait to get back.

Beautiful house and view

We stayed at the Harbor Hideaway in December and thoroughly enjoyed it! The house is decorated beautifully in a coastal boho style, but not “over-decorated” … it is very comfortable. We loved the open plan with kitchen, relaxing couches and smart tv, and cozy electric fireplace, which we used every night! Luxurious king bed and beautiful bathroom. The screen porch was wonderful for watching the ever-changing marsh views … no horses, but still serene and beautiful.Harbor Hideaway was a perfect home base for local day trips. We did Port Royal (great Farmers Market on Sundays) downtown Beaufort (nice shops and historic homes) and Hunting Island State Park, which was just fantastic. (Thank you, Austin, for free pass.) The South Beach by lighthouse was great for walking for miles (our dog LOVED it!) but don’t miss the Boneyard Beach down by the Nature Center. The driftwood sculptures are simply amazing and there are plenty of small pieces, too. It’s well worth the .7 miles walk on trail from Nature Center. Get a brochure with map when you enter the park.Food wise, we recommend Madison’s in Port Royal for southern classics like fried green tomatoes, pimento cheese, and fried oysters, and Sea Eagle Seafood Market for fresh shrimp, crab, and oysters to eat at home.Lastly, kudos to Austin, a very friendly, flexible, and responsive host. We appreciate you and your wonderful home, and hope to return!

This property is everything we remembered from our last stay. Just minutes away from anything you need in Beaufort or relaxing at the beach! We loved sitting on the porch where we could watch the ocean and wildlife. The house and property are very cleam and well-maintained!

Lowcountry Gem!

We had such a wonderful stay at Harbor Hideaway! From the view to the decor to the great location, we loved everything about this home! Austin and Kayla were wonderful hosts - incredibly responsive and helpful with everything we needed. The home is so perfectly decorated and was one of the cleanest homes we’ve ever rented. The screened-in porch was so nice - really key to have a lovely place to relax outside and watch the beautiful horses in the marsh! We highly recommend this rental if you’re looking for a quiet, peaceful, and relaxing vacation. Thanks so much, Austin and Kayla!

Nice quiet stay on Horse Island

Nice home and views. Very convenient to Hunting Island State park (beaches), activities and St Helena restaurants. I was hoping to be able to put in a kayak at high tide, but that wasn’t practlcal for us (there are launching and rental options within 5-10 drive). I’d recommend Coastal Expeditions. Host was very communicative and responsive. We arrived a day early, and luckily no other guests were in the home. The host was understanding and flexible on altering our stay. The house was very clean and well organized. The host left very intuitive and helpful instructions and guidance. Nice touches - provided binoculars with which to better view the wild horses and other wildlife; provided a state park pass to make entry to Hunting Island State park free and convenient.

Returned home the most relaxed I have been in years!!!

This place was heaven! It was so relaxing. Everything was as described but there is no way to ever put into words the relaxation you feel. The back screened in back porch was everything. Spent my mornings drinking coffee and my night there drinking wine and enjoying every relaxing second of it. Only 10-20 minutes from everything you could ask for. Do yourself a favor and book it fast so you can and enjoy firsthand this amazing place.

Beautiful, peaceful, wildlife...

Wonderful! Arrived and greeted with wild horses grazing in distance. Relaxing sitting in screened porch watching the birds. Can't think of anything to say negative about this place. Nice cool breezes everyday. Lots of places to visit. Huntington Beach State Park a quick drive. Great restaurants. Just a beautiful place to watch the tides come in and out of the marsh. Hope to go back!

Paradise on Horse Island

I hesitate to leave a good review because selfishly I want to keep this gem of a place all to myself. If you're looking for a peaceful, comfortable, out-of-the-way spot to unwind, unplug and soak in nature - this is the place. The owners have made certain to provide all the creature comforts most people come to expect and require on vacation but have done so without interfering with the amazing natural beauty that surrounds this house. The beds and furniture are comfortable and maintained (despite being a rental and constantly used). The linens are very nice, well-made and quite clean. The bathrooms and kitchen were sparkling clean. Good water pressure and nice hot water all around. Appliances in great condition and all very clean. One week's stay is never long enough. I am already dreaming of my next visit.

Just what we needed

We just returned from a great week-long stay! With three teenagers, our dog, my wife and myself, the house and property had everything we needed. From the selection of games and puzzles and the fully stocked kitchen coupled with the huge screened in porch and the hammocks overlooking the sunrise and Marsh. Even the fire pit was positioned just right. The horses were in view a couple times each day and were a really cool addition to the already perfect view. Do yourself a favor and set an alarm for 30 minutes before the sunrise a few mornings. You won’t regret it. It was just close enough to the State Park beach and a few restaurants that the drive was easy. We visited Beaufort, Fort Fremont and Savannah, Ga. Loved our stay.
