Its stone-facing houses, clustered in a spiral around the Saint-Nazaire church, give it the appearance of a snail's shell—an original architecture steeped in history and poetry.

Never subject to any feudal lordship, Sablet depended directly on the Papacy, which explains the absence of a castle. However, since the 14th century, the village has protected itself behind a fortified wall, the remains of which tell of centuries of resistance. Stroll through its narrow streets in search of the "soustets," these passages under the houses with their stone or plasterwork patinated by time, and admire the architectural details of each facade. The shaded "Place Yvan Audouard," adorned with a fountain and a washhouse, pays tribute to this journalist and writer, a fervent lover of Sablet.
