We thoroughly enjoyed our time spent at the Gatekeeper Cottage. It was quiet, clean, & had everything we needed. We will definitely return sometime when there's not snow on the ground! We left feeling rested & relaxed!

We stayed two nights on an atv trip. Cabin is really unique especially for kiddos. they loved the loft and spiral staircase. We made good use of the walking trails on the property and the fire pit out back. Kitchen was well stocked and whole place was warm and cozy. Hit some peak fall color and got some great pics down by the lake. We will be returning! Cabin right on the atv trail!

Anniversary getaway
We have stayed at many places, this is the first one where the pictures don't do justice to the home. It was a beautiful place to stay, with a beautiful setting to walk around in.

This place is great! We loved it!
The Gatekeepers Cottage was fabulous! It was even better then what the pictures showed. Such a great use of all the space and beautifully decorated. The owners checked in on us shortly after arrival to see if there was anything we needed and to point out the different activities available to us. We enjoyed taking the kayaks out and hanging out on the front porch. We would definitely stay here again - possibly in the winter after learning that the snowmobile trails are just across the road.

Amazing girls weekend!
Girls weekend at the cottage was amazing! Ted and Lori were so helpful and kind. And the cottage was beautiful, we slept comfortably for the 6 of us. They have everything you need and more, with instructions for whatever you could think to ask about. We went out on the lake and it was very peaceful, beautiful weekend for weather wise. Loved that there were bathrooms and bedrooms on every floor. Decor was amazing, and kitchen was stocked well. Overall an amazing property! Would book again 😁

We didn't want to leave!
I had my bachelorette party here and it was perfect! So relaxing, checkin and checkout was a breeze. The cottage has everything we needed and more! We truly didnt want to leave by the end of the weekend. Thank you, Lori and Ted!

Beautiful cottage
Cottage was beautiful and clean. The upstairs bedroom is not ideal due to the ladder and the room gets very warm even with a/c set at a comfortable level. I will say the owners have everything you need there for you. If enjoying the lake is what you desire then this may not be the place for you as the algae on the lake was thick as carpet. Cottage is very quaint with all the refurbished antiques. Overall, a nice place to stay.

Thank you for your kind review! So sorry you didn’t enjoy the lake, it does usually weed up a bit more than normal at the beginning of August when it is really hot. 😎 It is a spring fed wilderness lake and is great for fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and just cruising around on the pontoon. Lots of wildlife to see (eagles, blue heron, sandhill cranes etc.) and it’s also very quiet. Not much traffic on it, so depends on what you’re looking for. It’s definitely not a beach type of lake, but the north end of the lake is weed free and great for swimming because it is 25 feet deep there so the weeds cannot grow. The lofted bedroom ladder stairs is definitely for people who are a little more agile, but it’s pretty easy once you get used to it, 😀 The lofted bedroom does get a little warmer when we have extreme heat like we’ve had this summer. We have put a screen door on the balcony bedroom door so that it can be opened in the evening to let the cool air in as well as providing fans. We would love to put a room air conditioner in there, but there aren’t windows suited for it. So glad your overall stay was great!😀

Pretty location, nice home.
We enjoyed our stay - the property is very unique and the owners were kind and helpful. Everything was clean, instructions were provided where needed and were very clear, and the house was well-equipped. The only negative is that it is difficult to get to either level where the beds are. The ladder staircase is a little scary, and the spiral staircase is very tight and tricky to manuever if you are carrying anything (like a suitcase). But I would stay there again if I was in the area!

Kara was an awesome guest! They left the cottage super clean as well. We are sorry they found the ladder stairs, and spiral staircase difficult. Most of our guests do not have a problem with it. We do offer the entrance door in the lower level to avoid having to carry a bigger suitcase on the spiral staircase. We also have an electric winch for hoisting luggage up the ladder stairs. We are so glad they enjoyed their stay, and would welcome them back again, anytime.

Great Stay!
There were 8 of us adults that stayed at the cottage for a girls weekend. Our stay was fantastic and relaxing. With two levels and the loft, we were easily able to accommodate everyone for comfortable sleeping arrangements and had plenty of room. The host Lori quickly answered any questions that we had. Would highly recommend staying at Stonehaven!

Beautiful cottage
We really enjoyed our stay here. The property is as described, but much more special in person. We loved the location, decor and cleanliness of the cabin. Lots of things to do in the area. Hosts were responsive and great to work with.

Enchanting cottage
We had a fabulous girls weekend. The cottage was outstanding. The description of the cottage was spot on but there were so many special touches. The living spaces, bedrooms were so beautifully decorated, so comfortable. Absolutely loved the bathrooms, quaint and unique decorations, water pressure was lovely. The pulley for luggage was amazing, unfortunately we found out after dragging the luggage up that this was available. Someone was extremely clever when setting this cottage up, it was amazing, we will certainly be back.

What a great place! Five stars!
This cottage was perfect for our group of eight! Price was reasonable and access to local area (nature and in-town) was so close! Of all the rentals I have stayed in, this place was was the best equipped, most home-like, and the most relaxing. The hosts were incredibly helpful with any questions and proactive with things to do and know about the cottage. We’ll be back for sure!

Great stay

Fantastic Place!
This property was so beautiful! It had several inviting trails to walk on. It had a pontoon we were able to rent for SUCH a reasonable price. It had cute dishes and cute, custom everything. It's just a neat place! It feels like you're in the country, but you're minutes from town, which makes it private AND still super convenient. Ted and Lori were fantastic about getting back to me about the few questions I did have. I cannot recommend this property highly enough!

One of the most beautiful, cozy, stylish rentals we have ever stayed in! Every detail was thought of and excellently executed. At one point my husband was on the couch looking around the cottage and he said, "I could live forever in a house like this." 🤗

A piece of Heaven
Ted & Lori have thought of everything, all you need is your clothes! Their property has endless trails for walks, and they are right across the road from the ATV trail. Bring your Side by Sides, ATVs, Snowmobiles in the winter! The cottage is one of the cutest places I've stayed in...the craftsmanship and professional handyman work are outstanding! I would definitely recommend this place to stay and experience for your next getaway! A++++ Service 🏆

Wonderful getaway!
This cottage was perfect for an anniversary long weekend get-away. We loved spending time on the porch and deck, walking the trails on the property, cooking in the full kitchen, bonfires in the evening and watching Netflix. The cottage is sparkling clean, well decorated and so comfortable. We loved our time here!

Highly Recommend
My husband and I travel a lot and have stayed many places but this location surpasses most others! It has everything you need to relax and feel at home. The design is thought out and very well done! Not to mention the landscaping is absolutely beautiful. Whether you’re sitting by the fire pit, on the porch swing or relaxing indoors it provides something for everyone. We will definitely be back! Great getaway!
This is a spacious and artfully decorated cottage. I had everything I needed and I found it very relaxing and restorative. I loved sitting on the porch on the days that were warm enough, and really appreciated that I could get in a lovely walk to the lake right from the cottage. It was very peaceful and comfortable.

Love this place!
My boyfriend and I were looking for a place not too far drive from Minneapolis to get away for a couple of days. Stonehaven is awesome! Such a charming space. Lots of attention given to detail. Perfect Winter Getaway
The Gatekeeper Cottage was the perfect place to getaway for a celebration of our January birthdays. The cottage itself was beautiful inside and out, the grounds were snow covered and lovely to stroll through and we found daily hikes within the surroudning area. It was warm and cozy to return from our hiking to the comfy living room with its inviting fireplace. The kitchen had everything we needed to make simple meals and the bathroom was extremely supplied with towels, toiletries and even face masks. If you are looking for a winter getaway, you will not be disappointed with this cottage!

AMAZING!
My husband and I had an incredible weekend here celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary. We were looking for something quiet and cozy- and this was absolutely perfect. The fireplace is a centerpiece of the entire cottage, and we spent our time cuddled up reading, playing games, watching movies, and cooking. The property is located on 40 wooded acres, and so we were able to get out and explore a little as well. This cottage is decorated SO cute- we felt so at home and couldn't stop obsessing over all the details. You can tell so much love and care goes into this property. If you're looking for a quiet respite away from it all- look no further, you will not be disappointed. We are so grateful for this opportunity and look forward to returning for our next anniversary!

The Cottage of Fairy Tales
My husband and I usually travel for our Anniversary and with 2020 being...well.. a very different year we decided a few nights away in Rice Lake would be perfect. Firstly, the photos and description of the Gatekeeper Cottage was spot on. This gorgeous and well maintained property was a little slice of heaven. Ted & Lori were very hospitable even offering us a little boat ride. We enjoyed two nights of pure relaxation and can’t wait to come back in spring when we can enjoy the lake! Also, Romeo definitely lived up to his name. 😋

Gateway Cottage getaway
We stayed here for 4 nights with our adult son. Fished, canoed on the Nemakogen and enjoyed fresh air in the big covered porch. Well appointed and we had everything we needed. Hosts were great. There was a campfire area for our use and lots of walking paths. Lovely space, clean, pretty, comfortable. Kitchen was excellent. We cooked all meals there. We will want to go back,
