«We loved everything about the room except for tiny little ants in the kitchen area but honestly that is not unusual in Hawaii. The Orchid Room (Room 6) was stunning. The bathroom and koi pond were really well done. Loved using the jacuzzi tub as the Kona rain storm started ramping up. We lost power a few times and had to pack up by flashlight in the morning but totally understand as it was a very strong storm -- strong enough to close the national park later that day. «Nice rustic place. We normally stay in 4 and 5 * hotels and this was not that but it was a cool little spot for what the town is. It’s remote with not a lot of choices. The room was clean and if we can’t get a room in the park again when we’re there next, we will try to stay here again. »

«Hale Ohia Cottages ligger kort vei fra Volcano nasjonalpark. Jeg leide en veldig idyllisk frittliggende hytte. De holdt på å bygge mens jeg var der, med flere enheter i to nye bygg. Jeg synes det meste av sjarmen lå i det å ha sin helt egen hytte. Er du avhengig av godt nett er dette ikke stedet å være. Men ser du etter ro og sjarm anbefaler jeg stedet høyt. Jeg var to netter, og gikk lange turer i nasjonalparken. Veldig flott. Husk å ta en kveldstur dit, så du får med deg vulkanen i aktivitet. ...

«Convenient to national park. Clean and Quiet location. More of a bed and breakfast style set up. Drive slow entering the property, can get bumpy. Ignore the purple key pad at entrance door, use e-keypad on door. Breakfast is granola bars and packaged pastries as stated. There is a breakfast and lunch deli just around the corner called lighthouse. »

«If you are looking for a cheaper place to sleep and you are by yourself I think it’s ok! I stayed with my boyfriend and thought there was zero privacy. Walls were paper thin right next to some other rooms that had dogs barking. The bed made a very loud noise every time we moved to side. For hot water we had to keep the water very low and when my bf took a shower the water got cold. but again if you want to stay close to the volcano and want something cheap there are not too many options there ...

«This lovely secluded rain forest cabin is wonderfully private, very close to the park, and the owners are extremely responsive (by text). They provide coffee and bottled water (although the filtered rain water is fine too). Note that it’s a pretty big place so takes a bit to warm up on cold wet days, but worth it!»
