I was really excited to stay here because I visited a few years ago for a wedding. However, when visiting again with my wife and toddler, I was 100% disappointed. Our rooms AC unit was down two times. After switching rooms, the cool started kick in a little but not completely.There was a leak coming from the ceiling. The building definitely needs some work.
The first night, our pillow cases and sheets had stains. Made me question the cleanliness of the rooms.
We made a reservation at the steakhouse and waited an hour to be seated and didn’t start eating until an hour after that. Having that experience did not make us want to pay for the Hibachi experience.
We expressed our concerns to Oscar at guest services about the non working AC unit the first two night and ceiling leak.. he offered to give us a beach cabana for free, discounted (not free) experience at the hibachi spot, or changing our room again. To switch rooms for the 2nd or 3rd time would’ve been too much especially being we were already approaching our final hours of our trip. I feel in situations like this, a credit of some sort should have been applied or maybe after the first night with the defected AC unit, a room upgrade would be nice.
The MAIN Highlight of the trip was the Meliá bartender, Olimer! He’s at the olives bar in lobby area (3p-11p)! He was amazing, attentive to all guests and personable! I wouldn’t recommend coming here at all but if you plan to or have no choice, pay a visit to Olimer!
