The rooms were spacious, and although the hotel is older, it is well maintained and feels very safe. Some of the staff were very attentive, but others were not as welcoming—for example, the lady working in the club coffee shop consistently acted as if guests were bothering her.
Unfortunately, the biggest issue was a strong sewer/mold‑like smell in the rooms. Our group had five rooms, and four of the five experienced this odor. We even changed rooms, but the smell persisted. Now that we’re home, our clothes still smell terrible from the stay, and I’ll need to have everything dry cleaned.
Our butler, Erickson, was absolutely wonderful. He even started his day four hours early to make sure all the guests he supported were taken care of. He did everything he could to help, but the odor is clearly a property‑wide issue that needs attention.
The food was average; however, the Japanese restaurant was top‑notch. Just make sure to arrive at the buffet right when it opens; the food quality noticeably declined if it sat out for a while.
Overall, it was a good experience that could have been much better without the smell issue.
