Hanalei Bay Resort overlooks Hanalei Bay from a tropical, lush 28 acres in Princeville. Beautiful ocean and Bali Hai views are everywhere on this property. Beach access is provided down a long, fair grade, paved path, and the resort staff offer convenient golf cart rides to the beach below. With four new artificial turf and two new hard courts as well as 6 new pickleball courts added to this world ranked tennis resort, everyone is sure to find their groove. Onsite restaurant, pizza oven, and coffee shop, concierge and fitness center, there is little need to ever leave!

This lovely condo is quiet and comfortable, with beautiful garden and mountain views. The kitchen provides all you need to prepare your island meals and the vaulted open beam ceilings give the open and airy feel. The Murphy bed can be put up to give a spacious living area during the day and then sleeping quarters for the night. The in unit washer and dryer rounds out this perfect place to stay. The resort offers an array of amenities sure to make your vacation special such as 2 swimming pools, multiple tennis courts, a hot tub, direct beach access, BBQ areas, and a fire pit seating area great for watching the amazing Kauai sunsets!

Great place beautiful location

The property management was great at communication. We got in late and the bed was broken so the next day we let them know and they immediately found a solution to fix it. It was a Murphy bed but was pretty comfortable for a Murphy bed. Place was well stocked. Great views from the patio. Check in and amenities great. We still haven’t gotten a refund of our deposit yet though.

The condo is in a very quiet area of the resort, offering a very secluded feel. It's very near a parking area, the restaurants, and pools without being noisy. Resort staff are kind and helpful, and very quick to help when asked. Being so close to Hanalei was amazing and I would quickly book a stay here again.

The property is beautiful, it was stocked with everything you could need. Property had a great restaurant with a view of the ocean. Easy access to the pool/spa. Beach is walking distance down a hill, but property provided transportation to and from until sunset if needed.

Beautiful views and the resort is great.

I loved the location of this unit and I loved the property. I didn’t love the Murphy bed and didn’t realize it was a Murphy bed until arrival (that was more than likely an oversight on my end but haven’t checked the original listing) the bed didn’t sit level on the floor so had to make a make shift platform for one of the legs. There was a bit of a musty smell but as soon as we opened the doors and kept them open and got a fan going it was fine.

Princeville

The grounds were nice, the bathroom in our unit was nice BUT the shower water at it coldest was warm and I prefer my showers on the colder side. There were beach supply’s stored in the closet, which was nice, unfortunately the air conditioner was fair at best. The pull down bed was broken (the medal support at the foot that holds the bed up). We weren’t able to access Netflix on the tv and when I messaged the lady responsible for our unit she said she didn’t think they even had it. The window blind behind the sofa where you sit to watching was broken on one side so it wouldn’t close and hung down sideways so we had to Gerry rig it against the wall with the sofa. At check in we were given rubber wristbands to wear while at the swimming pools and weren’t aware that they would charge us if they were lost. I thought mine was lost but thankfully I found it. Last, and this may be on VRBO, I paid in full before we arrived and the resort charged fees on top of the supposed “total” fees that VRBO charged. The food at the restaurant was okay. Our waitress was great! Very friendly and knowledgeable about the foods. I won’t book here again based on the price I paid to stay and these items I listed above. It wasn’t cheap so I would expect everything to be in perfect order.

Beautiful resort but choose another unit!!

The resort itself has a gorgeous location , but my experience with the actual room and property management on VRBO was far from pleasant. I had high hopes, but unfortunately, the room I picked was a disappointment. The troubles started with the TV not working on the first day, followed by a persistent musty and moldy smell that was falsely claimed to have been removed. The pungent odor lingered throughout my stay, making it unbearable. To make matters worse, there was a power outage on the first evening and the bed that folds down is also semi broken, with miscellaneous lamps missing light switches as well. Being a local resident, I had to stay at this property because my home was being tented for termites. After enduring the strong smell for three days, I reached out to the property manager for some form of compensation. To my dismay, the manager's response was inadequate. Instead of offering a suitable solution, I was told I could check out and be refunded. However, that was not a viable option for me. The only compensation provided was a meager $50 check, which was a TINY fraction of what I had paid for the week-long stay. Normally I would never ever complain like this but considering the unpleasant conditions and lack of proper compensation, I strongly advise against choosing this property for your stay. Just hoping they’ll return my deposit back in a timely fashion.

Nice place to stay, walk to Beach

This was a nice place to stay, the overall resort was nice, clean, friendly staff. Nice pool, but chilly while we were there, hot tub made up for that, plus the walkable beach access which was great. The food available onsite is limited and only in the afternoon and evening, so plan on another way for breakfast and lunch. There is a little store that has a few food items. We had a kitchen unit with a Murphy bed, which was fine for the two of us. We were glad to have a kitchen to make breakfast and lunch. The bathroom was large with a big shower, and the unit had lots of gear to use at the beach etc, too. The desk staff was very helpful and friendly. We arrived after dark, and its a little tricky to find if you aren't careful, as you drive through a residential area to get to the resort. There are a lot of places to take nice walks, within and outside of the resort. There is a grocery store and some other shops and places to eat nearby, but you'll have to drive. Groceries are pretty pricey. We had a unit away from the pools and ocean views, but it was fine, and it was quiet, other than the roosters, of course! We hope to stay again someday

Love Kauai and HBR

Love Kauai and the Hanalei Bay Resort was wonderful. Of course the condo is a studio but worked fine for just us two. The dining table with chairs and a benchmark was a useful area without crowding the relatively small space, as was the nice size couch, although a bit soft. The queen Murphy bed was a bit firmer than we prefer but not a deal breaker. Kitchen utensils were sufficient for us with nice appliances, as indicated. The balcony table and chairs are comfortable making a very pleasant place to enjoy the trees and distant view while listening to the birds, which are not shy about begging. Couple of beach chairs was nice to find in the closet with a cooler but no umbrella, which you can rent for $8 down in Hanalei outside by the Big Save. While the resort and other fees do add up, all was disclosed and we had a great time on and off the property, and so we will certainly come again. Aloha and Mahalo! Eric & Kim

Nice place overall

Place as described, clean, balcony with rain forest type view was nice to sit and drink coffee at. The unit did have a musty smell every time we walked in, but opening the sliding doors helped it go away. Great location and size for 2 people, having a full kitchen was nice. Only negative was that the hot tub was broken our entire stay. I understand things happen, but that was a big bummer as we enjoy that on vacation.

Great location and nice amenities

My husband and I stayed here while exploring the northern part of Kauai. The condo is located within a lovely resort. The kitchen was well stocked with quality cookware, and the washer and dryer within the unit were extremely convenient. We would gladly stay here again.

Smells moldy and woke up to roof leaking and bed was soaked!!

When you enter this unit, you get hit with a VERY strong Mildew smell! Reminded me of what an old cabin at summer camp. I quickly found out why. I woke up in the middle of the night with the roof leaking directly over the bed! The bed was soaked!! I immediately contacted the Assistance number for "Emergencies" in the middle of the night.. NO RESPONSE. Never heard from anyone regarding this! Luckily I was leaving that morning!! Besides that issue...This unit was cute, and was nice to have washer and dryer. It was weird to have to walk through the service entry outdoor area, to get to unit from parking lot.. The Hanalei Bay Resort is Beautiful and has breathtaking views!! I want to return to resort, but will get a definitely get a different unit and stay on the other side of resort. This unit is handled by, VACATION REALTY. HAWAII. I had also contacted the owner through VRBO, and never got a response either. Was Not happy at ALL with the communications with either entity.

Great place to stay

HBR is a beautiful property and this little condo was a great fit for my husband and I. The Murphy bed was small but worked and was comfortable. We had breakfast every morning on our balcony overlooking the mountains. Was nice to have the kitchen (stocked with staples too salt, pepper, cinnamon, oil, etc) to make our own meals. The restaurant on site had just opened (august 2021) so we ate there once. Pool on site is awesome with swim up bar. We walked down to the beach every day and some days walked further towards Hanalei and swam across to Hanalei bay (it is possible if you are a good swimmer and the tide is low) where we had lunch and dinner. Definitely still need a car staying here to explore the whole island. This is a great home base and nice little condo for a good price - the welcome basket was really nice too!!

Small condo with extra fees

Make sure to note this is a studio with a murphy bed that folds down from the small living room wall, and it is not very comfortable. There was a musty smell throughout the rental, and it is right next to other condos where you can hear other people, especially on the porch which is only separated by a perforated screen. The photos are a bit deceiving and they make the place look bigger then it is. There are extra charges for parking ($20/day) and for use of the facility (!!) and towels which we thought was really excessive given the price. This is much more of a resort type experience than your typical vrbo or house rental. The access to Hanalei bay is awesome, and the surf and sunsets were really beautiful.
