Our stay at Canad Inns Portage la Prairie had some enjoyable moments, but several issues made the experience far less smooth than it should have been.
Check‑In:
Check‑in was supposed to be guaranteed at 4 PM according to their website, yet we still had to wait almost an hour because the room wasn’t ready. When I asked the front desk for an estimated time, she couldn’t give one. With staff using radios, you’d think getting an update from housekeeping would be simple, but that didn’t happen.
Room Amenities:
For a family, the in‑room supplies were very limited. Only two creamers for the coffee, and the shampoo, conditioner, and lotion were barely enough for one person, let alone multiple guests. It felt like everything was rationed.
Pool Area:
This was the most frustrating part. There were no towels available, and the phone in the pool area didn’t work to call the front desk. I even tried calling from my mobile, but the call was hung up on. A maintenance staff member said he would bring towels, but after waiting an hour, he never returned. This happened at night, which made it even more inconvenient.
Despite these issues, we still tried to enjoy our stay, but the number of service problems definitely took away from the experience. Canad Inns can do better, especially when they advertise certain standards that aren’t being met.
