Famous Historic Cowboy Cabin

Our historic cowboy cabin originating from the Pecos Forest in 1860 was rebuilt in Placitas in 2009. The property around the cabin has many famous scenes from various different shows, including the series Breaking Bad! Besides the cabin being a one-of-a-kind property, the exterior is pretty awesome as well! Featuring a large pool and large courtyard, it gives for one of the most unique stays here in NM. Located perfectly for a quick commute to Alb or Santa Fe! POOL IS SEASONAL May 1- Aug 20

We really like the location of the cabin. It was about 20-30 minutes to the places we wanted to see in Albuquerque. The view is pretty. After reading the other reviews we knew to expect to wait before we got our check in information. We got it around 3:00 before our 4:00 check in. The lock to the door is a bit tricky. The bathroom door is also hard to get open once inside. The sink is old and hard to turn. As others have said there is no WiFi. There is DVD player. The weather was cooler and the space heater inside kept us warm. Bed is comfortable. Toaster oven, microwave, and Keurig worked. I would bring water to drink as there are a lot of signs about conserving due to it being well water. Could have had nice amenities for the price.

Heed the warning from other reviews about a bumpy check in. We did get past this though, just be flexible and prepared. Once in the cabin it was cute and clean. The bed was comfortable. I will share what may have been a one-off due to the holiday weekend: the host, who lives on-site, had a party on our last night there. Lots of people, loud music, talking, laughing, and loud voices through much of the night. It would have been nice to know ahead of time as we would have made alternate plans and stayed elsewhere for the night before driving home early the next morning. No reply when a message was sent. No contact or apology afterwards. It's their home, they can do as they please, but as a paying guest there should have been notice given and an option to back out of the last night of the reservation. Sadly, we won't stay again.

The cabin is pretty wonderful, very rustic and unique. Bed and bath linens were high quality. Communication was a little off. The message with access info is supposed to arrive an hour before check in. It didn't. If I hadn't run into a worker on the property to request check in info, I might not have received it.The access lock is fussy, there were no instructions for that. Other rentals are on site. So parking became a free for all.

This is a great property and a great place to stay! When booking though realize that communication with this host is done through vrbo. You can book on expdia, but just realize that you have to create a vrbo account to get any communication about this particular property. The pool is excellent, well kept, and clean. That said, you can NOT check in early. They only allow check in AFTER 4 PM. SO DON'T bother to show up early. I hope this helps others when they book a stay here. The cabin is great , the pool is excellent, and the place is clean and quiet. If you wana enjoy a nice little hike i highly recommend "sandia cave and the man cave". Such a fun and unique hike in a cave. You shud bring a runners light or mechanic light to explore the cave easier.

Secluded Cabin Stay

After a bite of panic on locating the Cabin (late at night), I had a wonderful stay during my golf tournament close by. Cabin was quaint and comfy. Not so new school on accommodations but very rustic, and had some great sleep during my stay.

We would not stay here again. Arrived at 3pm. Room was ready but we couldn’t check in until 4pm exactly so we sat and waited. Two towels for a 5 night stay. No bath mat. No extra toilet paper. Kitchen was not stocked with anything essential. Very poorly stocked property and A/C unit was NOT able to keep cabin cool and the temperatures were considerably low for this time of year there. The place has potential but it’s evident the owners don’t put any effort into maintaining it. My husband skimmed the pool daily to clean it. No lounge chairs or other expected furniture by the pool. The spickets in the bathroom at the sink ran right into the edge of the sink making it very difficult to wash hands or brush teeth. No way to light the stove/even in the kitchen. Was nice to have a full sized fridge but that was the highlight of the kitchen. Would have been nice to have ice trays in freezer but again- attention to detail was completely overlooked at this property. Too bad. We will find another place to stay next June.

This person was difficult to communicate with. I requested that I get my check-in info a little earlier if possible as I was traveling alone. I had to ask him that morning what the address was. I couldn't get into the place because instructions weren't complete. I had to stay somewhere else for the night. He said I could get a refund, but has not sent one. I left a night early because there was a rodent rummaging around in the trash. Again, I asked for a refund since I had to go elsewhere. No refund. Save yourself the trouble of trying to communicate with this person & just stay away. He doesn't seem at all interested in the comfort of his guests.

Don Eladio's hacienda from breaking bad show

This place was absolutely amazing. Beautiful view, accommodating host. Very peaceful and me and my son had an amazing time. Not too far from Albuquerque either Uber still picked us up from here. Extremely inexpensive for what you're getting. The cabin is absolutely gorgeous. You just have to provide your own Wi-Fi though is all so if you don't have hotspot you don't get to watch TV

Enjoyed the location.

This was the perfect quick stay location for us and it was close to the mountains. One issue is that room is listed as sleeping Four. That is incorrect and is only a single bed that sleeps too. We may do, but it might be inconvenient if there's three adults.

Great location and beautiful property

This is a beautiful 1800's cabin. A good mesh of old and new. Location is perfect as you are a very short drive to restaurants and markets but situated on a property with beautiful views and gorgeous star gazing. This cabin is cozy and comfortable but know because it is an old cabin and its situated in a country atmosphere there is the possibility of critters. We stayed in a winter month and enjoyed the fireplace which is main heat source along with space heaters. Parking is not located in front of the cabin. There is a short walk through the property to unload. You are instructed to conserve water as the main source is a well. Hot water is adequate. This is a multi unit property so dont expect seclusion. Other guests we ran into are very friendly. Would definitely return if in the area again.

Beautiful scenery amd cute cabin. Door by bedroom did not secure properly so just an fyi. Other than hearing the other guests fighting and yelling, it was a great experience. Cozy cabin with everything you need.

Thanksgiving Getaway

Upon entering the adorable cabin, we were greeted with a cozy fire in the fireplace. The decor has been perfectly placed and well thought out. You have the feeling of being transported into the 1800's, yet have all of the modern conveniences. The four poster bed was extremely comfortable and included plush pillows. The location is easily accessible and feels private. There is a cute cafe within a two minute drive. We will definitely return.
