We checked in around 1am on Friday/Saturday March 20/21. The first impression with the front desk agent was poor. She wasn’t pleasant. Her face showed like she didn’t care. No smile. It’s really not difficult to be pleasant and it is expected at a higher end hotel to receive at least better than average service. She was doing some paperwork and honestly seemed put off by us. She was wearing a sweatshirt and no name tag. Our stay included breakfast the next morning. She said she would usually present a coupon for the breakfast but couldn’t since the employee on an earlier shift didn’t leave her any. The room was small and just ok. The shower handle was falling off and the toilet seat had what appeared to be white out to possibly cover a crack in the toilet? In both instances, I believe it’s fair to expect better. I’m in the hotel business and I continually preach to my front desk employees how important the first impression is and to smile, be pleasant, and caring. I tell inform that if this occurs, guests are much less likely to notice smaller things that might not be up to our usual standards in the room especially. This is a perfect example of this situation. I don’t know the name of the employee (mainly because she didn’t have a name tag on). We will not be returning to this hotel.
