Very very lovely place.
It was a great place. A little difficult getting into the property but it all got sorted out. The owner was so super. He brought over all the things we needed and was a great resource for things to do in the area.

2nd time & we’ll be back!
We booked our 2nd stay at Selena Del Mar before we even left our first stay last October, that’s how much we loved it! The condo is lovely, decorated tastefully, not overwhelming and the backyard is amazing! We had rented a car last time, but this time we didn’t as we felt that we wanted to enjoy the home & the grounds. We were able to do just that! The grounds are lovely, a great place for walks along the beach and in the neighborhoods. It was great to have the Rancho opened, as it was being renovated when we were there in October… you must try the Pallo Verde!! We did end up renting a car for a few trips to Montezuma and Santa Teresa when we wanted to, but overall we spent a lot of time on the beach & in the pool. We walked over to Tambor Tropical for drinks and lunch a couple of days, which is doable in dry season, but not in rainy season as you have to cross a river (take my word for it… do not try this at high tide!) Grace and Ward are wonderful resources for anything you need to know about the area and available for anything you need. They were great! I seemed to run into them pretty much everywhere I went :) I would not hesitate to stay at any of there properties! Pura Vida!

Paradise Found!
We stayed at Sirena Del Mar for a month. The community is wonderful. It is gated and completely secure, and all staff are very friendly and helpful. There is a grocery store on site, which has all your basic needs. The Rancho Beach Bar recently reopened after renovations, and it is terrific. The beach is stunning beyond words. In a word, it is perfect. Miles and miles of sand, both along the beach and out into the water. Perfect for both adults and the littlest kids. There are lounge chairs around for renters’ use, and lots of shaded areas under the palms. The 9-hole golf course is beautiful. The villa is comfortable and has all the basic needs. You will need to bring everything you need for cooking with you (oils, spices, cling wrap/aluminum foil, etc.) as nothing is provided, but this is not unusual. Just be aware that you need to do this, especially if you arrive without a car. All bedrooms and main open-concept living area are individually air conditioned. The outdoor laundry facility is a nice bonus. You will likely spend the majority of your time at the villa outside. The patio and pool are absolutely lovely. There is a nice 6-seat dining table, 2 comfy chairs with side table under the rancho, and 2 lounge chairs with an umbrella. The villa write-up mentions backpack-style beach chairs, but those were not in the villa when we were there. Insects are not really an issue here so you can always be outside, which is fantastic. It is an 800-meter, approximately 10-minute walk, to the beach, about the same to the onsite store, and a few minutes more to the Rancho - all within the community, of course. You could stay here without a car, which we had thought we would do, but we ended up renting a car for most of our stay. There is so much to see and do in the surrounding area, and we do like to explore, so it is our personal recommendation to have a car. There are lots of lovely restaurants in nearby Tambor (Tambor Tropical, Tango Mar, Henry’s Pizza, to name a few), Cóbano (Soda Familiar), Montezuma (Restaurante Montezuma Latino Beach Food, Butterfly Brewery), Santa Teresa (Restaurante Playa Carmen, Banana Beach), Mal Pais (La Cevicheria), and so on. Go horseback riding with Juan or get a massage on the beach with Carmen, both at the Barceló. Take a day trip (2-2.5 hour drive) to the artisan town of Guaitil, where the gorgeous Chorotega pottery is made.

Sirena Del Mar is perfect!
We had the best experience staying in Tambor at Sirena Del Mar! The condo is just as pictured, spotless, has everything you might need for your vacation! Entertaining…. Great pool area & outside area for that! Family vacation…. Plenty of space in 3 bedrooms with double bunks! Washer & dryer and air conditioning is a plus! The gated community & easy access to the beach was wonderful. We usually stay in single homes, close to a town or beach. These condos & the surrounding community are beautiful & safe. The golf coarse is beautiful (I’m not a golfer) but it looks great! The wildlife in the area is amazing! The scarlet mcaws are beautiful!! We’ve already researched for our spring trip! We didn’t need to contact anyone about the condo, but all of my communication with Marco the property manager & the owners has been responded to promptly & always helpful. Check in was easy, they had our name at the gate when we arrived. If you are thinking about booking….. do it! You will not be disappointed

Nothing short of amazing
Everything was perfect - great house, location and back yard with pool. Close to the boats for isla tortuga (they picked us up at the house), owners were VERY responsive - with great restaurant recommendations and when we ran out of propane for the grill, they brought a new one within 3 minutes. It was a shame to leave but will definitely be back!

Great Private Condo
Location This is located in Playa Tambor which is close to the ferry in Paquera which is great if you are coming from the southern end. We had a great time riding the ferry, saw lots of sting rays and my kids saw a sea turtle. The roads are paved and reasonable in this area. There is a supermarket right on premises and a Pali supermarket right after the ferry exit. It's about 30 - 45 minutes from Montezuma and Santa Teresa. Roads get a bit worse once you head that way. There's not much to do in the immediate vicinity. We used it as a location off the beaten path and weren't looking to be right in towns. Security It's a private community with an active and attentive security entry booth and multiple booths around the community. The house had good locks and we felt very safe. We stayed in August 2022 and it was pretty desolate, very few people around. Amenities Plenty of room, bathrooms were in great condition, ample cooking materials and even a few spices and whatnot stored there. The pool was the absolute best. A great size pool for kids and enjoyable for adults looking to just float and hang. My kids had an absolute blast and were in the pool multiple times a day. The beach isn't really a comfortable walk from the property. We drove and parked near the "restaurant" on the beach. It's a great walking beach, we even found a live sand dollar. The sand has a sticky feeling to it and there's not really any dry clean sand so not enough to set up shop for a full beach day. The view is outstanding, as it's in a little private cove. There's a landing strip right near by that provides some entertainment with small planes flying around. The place has lots of scarlet macaws around which is awesome because we didn't see many of them anywhere else. There is a local seafood seller about 10 minutes west. One major drawback is because the place is kind of off the beaten path, the local service isn't so great. Luckily, the condo has wifi but it was finicky at time. I couldn't rely on my own data bc there doesn't seem to be a tower to connect to. So, make sure you have all the check-in stuff on your phone before you get there.

Los Delfines 2022
Getting to the property was a nightmare. We arrived later than we anticipated and after our struggle to find Los Delfines in the dark, we lucked out by having owner rather than his manager bail us out. After that, property was just fine, although in a gated community somewhat isolated from rest of the area. Rated B+-A- overall.

Thanks for your comments, glad to help you with finding our villa after your long day of travel. Most visitors to Los Delfines are here for the safety of the gated community. It’s a much sought after destination for North Americans and Costa Ricans as well. They see this gated community with security as a benefit so they can walk the private beach without hassles of hucksters, no worries about belongings going missing. And many of us don’t even lock our cars or doors which is amazing when you consider leaving the community means renting a place with bars on the windows. Walk at night and so much to do. Tambor Beach stay
The house is in a great location with an awesome patio area. Surprising amount of wildlife in the neighborhood. Easy beach access just a 10 minute walk. What you get with the privacy of the beach is lack of restaurants nearby. There is one on the property although we didn’t find it until our last day one of the guards at the gate said it was closed and no longer open but we did see people there eating. Only inconvenience is that they come to water the grass and clean the pool 2-3 times a day which seems excessive. All in all I would highly recommend this property.

Hi Ethan Glad you enjoyed your stay. We appreciate you and your feedback. I know it seems like constant service in the yard sometime when they don't arrive together. I will ask them to try harder going forward. Gardener and cleaner are to work on the yard every day but Sunday for 20 minutes. and pool is to be cleaned and checked by another person everyday except Sunday. Restaurant on the beach is open Wednesday to Sunday. Other restaurants close by deliver to the house. It seems someone removed the guidebook so we will place another . Safe travels.

Extremely well equipped property with close neighbours one of whom smoked frequently. Incredible number of macaws and gorgeous but expensive golf course. Lovely beach on a beautiful bay with decent pizza restaurant right there.. A great location for a quiet time.
