Rented on short notice at Xmas - family emergency. 4 adults hoping for 3 beds (no futons) 2 baths.
Messaged owner, didn’t respond right away but book request got accepted. Right off the bat, red flags. He messaged in app about his sister, who does checkin. Listing/instructions conflicting info re:protocol. No garage code as listed. Conflicting & confusing info. Text from sister (not in app) huge no-no, if you have issues with rental, VRBO has no proof
Multiple texts about checkin but info vague/confusing. Should’ve set exact time to arrive. Said she’d leave key but will text when ready. I texted her 3 times - no response. We show up at 4:30pm. No VRBO app message during this time
No key outside. Finally opens door in PANIC. She lost her phone. Losing your phone sucks but solution - call bro on landline, have him message in app. Not finished cleaning. Still wanted to show each room 4 instructions. Laundry c/o protocol, fine but nothing written. I know people have bad days, but she melted down so much we had to insist we were ok
