A pier I'd like to own.
I rented this place for the pier, which I thought met all of my qualifications for a perfect fishing pier out into a bay. And it did! Over about a 48 hour period I caught between 30 and 40 speckled trout (about 1/3 on lures under lights, and the rest on live shrimp one afternoon). Unfortunately, they probably averaged about 13 inches, so they all went back in the water. Also maybe a dozen gafftops, about half of them legal. Lotsa fun.

Nice fishing house
Nice fishing spot. The host was next door and introduced themselves to us and walked us through the night fishing lights. Very helpful. Will definitely stay there again.

Peaceful and Beautiful
This is a simple property. 1970s house on stilts. Clean, extra linens, private pier. Highly recommend for a nice quiet weekend on the coast.

Beautiful Place with awesome fishing at your doorstep
We had a great time and caught some monster Red Fish out in the bay just steps from the home. The private lighted pier with fresh water fish cleaning station has cleats to tie your boat to, we left ours tied up overnight without issue. Talk about super handy just wake up step on the boat and your off! Thanks Cathy for the exceptional communication regarding the boat ramp access, the ramp owner said he could get you a new card, and I'm sure you will hear about our little mishap up by his gate (he laughed it off and said that boy will be talking about this moment for years) LOL Thank You, Cody Samford

Palacios stay
This property is ok, good for a group of guys getting away to fish but not for a family. Most of the electrical outlets did not work, the vents were dirty, the kitchen and bath cabinet doors did not close, a recliner was broken, some cabinets were falling apart, although I used the BBQ grill it was in poor condition. My check in email said 3:30, but the cleaners were there till 4pm. The fishing dock was nice. Again great for guys to get away but not a family, overall I'd rate this property at 3 stars because of the fishing pier.

Hi Christopher, we have passed along your feedback to the owner and they are very sorry your vacation is not what you expected. They would have been happy to address these concerns during your stay if you had reached out to them. - The outlets you mention are outdoors and since no one uses them they were not aware they didn't work, however, they have fixed them as a result of your feedback. - The owner has two grills and the second is brand new and stored in the shed, which is available for guests. - They are aware of the other issues now and have taken steps to correct the applicable issues. - They are sorry the cleaner stayed late and they were unaware of this until now. The owners are happy to help guests when they reach out and they are glad that these issues have been resolved for future guests.

Landowners where friendly helpful and helped with any issue that arose. Couldnt of asked for a better get a way. The house is older but still very nice we staid in. And is a great get away house for a weeeknd or a week!

Labor Day weekend at Las Brisas
My family and I really enjoyed our stay. The first night the house was hot and would not cool lower than 78. We called the owner Cathy the next morning and she got right on it; turned out to be the thermostat went out and she had it repaired ASAP. The house is nice and clean. The bay is probably 15-20 steps from the house. The private pier was really nice and it has lights for night and early morning fishing. About 8 miles Palacios and about a 20 minute drive to Port Lavaca in case you need anything. Great place to eat in Palacios is PMR Palacios Mexican Restaurant off of main st. Looking forward to our next trip which we have planned for October.

Very fun house
Very fun house to stay in. The bay is quite easily navigable and is approximately 6 feet from on side to the other. The only downside was the beds are all fulls so they are a little cramped. Easily overlooked when you are tired from fishing all day tho. The owner is very accommodating and made sure everything was just rite for our stay. Will definitely be going back again

Needs some general maintenance
Stayed here for a weekend while in town for wedding. My family had stayed at this house probably 50 times in my youth when a family friend owned it previously. We attended a wedding and needed a place to stay and saw the house on HomeAway. Figured it would be a fun experience to spend a weekend with my kids in the place I grew up fishing. The good It was a good location and although the weather turned cold and windy a few days before we arrived I can attest the fishing is excellent through most of the fall. Not our luck this trip. The bad The house has changed very little in the past 20 years when I last visited. Understanding that Palacios is a fishing town and not a major city but peeling paint, cracks/holes in drywall and the condition of the shower panels are items that you would expect to be upkept if listing as a rental. I would put it on par with a 2 star hotel. Also there were a few dead bugs in each room when we arrived leaving doubt that it was cleaned before we arrived. Overall I would stay here again but leave the wife and kids at home and spend time with my dad and brother fishing.

Nice and clean everything we needed
We stayed the week of Thanksgiving If you like to relax by the water and catch lots of fish from your own pier this is the place to get it done! The owner was a real pleasure to meet and is very nice and easy to get along with.very accomadating and super nice. This is not a luxury type set up It has all you need to stay comfortable and enjoy a good time fishing and relaxing. We will be going back soon and can’t wait. We didnt spend much time in the house but it has everything we needed except for a blender.
Our stay was amazing considering we were mostly outside fishing on the pier. Port lavaca was close enough to visit the beach and eat lunch. The home was not fancy but it had all we needed! It was well equipped with dishes, BBQ pit, and outdoor seating.
