I got invited to take pictures at a very special Day of the Dead ceremony in 3 Reyes—a small Mayan community in the state of Yucatan. To witness this side of my own country, relatively unknown to the most of us, is such a beautiful feeling!
Hanal Pixan stands for "The Feast of Souls"; and you can clearly appreciate that fact in every altar around 3 Reyes.

Amazing rooms. Beautiful hotel. Amazing cocktails and food… truly amazing service…. but… No coffee in your room or alcohol in the minibar so maybe bring your own. Just one look inside the Choj Ha cenote was all I needed to place it in the No. 1 spot in my list of All-Time Favorite Cenotes. A massive cave full of columns, stalactites and stalagmites, with a beautiful area for swimming and another one for cave diving. Even though it is located around 30 minutes away from Valladolid, it is a fairly unknown cenote managed by a small mayan community. Definitely worth the ride if you're looking for a really interesting place off the beaten path.
