First time in Nouakchott and very happy to have chosen this hotel. All facilities were fine. Bedroom small but clean and in reasonable nick. A/C quiet and effective. Good, consistent wifi (35mbs - ish). Excellent breaky, OK snacks and dinner. Would totally recommend if staying in Nouakchott.

Hotel staff has given a different room not the same room as shown at the time of booking. When we asked him to change they asked us to pay more for the room. Another issue is, they have not given room tariff bill for the booking.

Disappointing stay
I found new cockroaches every day in my room. The service cleaning the room was very lackluster. Some days I didn’t receive new towels until the evening (but they took the dirty towels in the morning). Tissues and toilet paper weren’t replaced / replenished until 2 days later sometimes.

À éviter.
Chambre abimée et pas hyper propre (il ne faut pas mettre un tapis s'il n'est jamais nettoyé comme il faut). Mauvaise odeur dans la douche, vitre très sale, pas d'attention aux détails. Stock épuisé de pratiquement tous pendant notre séjour (pratiquement pas de boissons, même pas des infusions), pareil pour les sandwiches, les desserts etc. Pas de carte, seulement des suggestions du Chef, avec deux plats. Pendant trois jours on me dit qu'on m'emmènera un fer à repasser, pour finalement avouer qu'il n'y en a pas. On m'a dit que c'était impossible d'aller au marché à 200 m pour acheter des citrons... Un séjour un peu surréaliste et très décevant pour un hôtel se disant 4 étoiles avec des tarifs correspondants. Un retour n'est pas prévu.

I only chose this property for the Azalai name & reputation and the hotel’s free airport shuttle. Since all flights seem to leave Nouakchott in the middle of the night, it was sickening to be told on checking on that there was no shuttle available and any taxi would be at my own expense. Also, tissue box was empty in room and there were no towels whatsoever.

Awesome hotel
By any standard, this is an awesome hotel. From the moment you enter the hotel the staff do everything they can to be helpful, even pamper you. The food at the restaurant is absolutely delicious and the free airport shuttle is greatly appreciated.

Kaupungin paras hotelli, ja ihan hyvä sellainen
Rauhallinen ja siisti hotelli pölyisessä Nouakchottissa. Huone todella pieni, sänky kova, suihkun vedenpaine huono mutta lämmintä vettä tuli luotettavasti. Netti vähän hidas, mutta toimi silti. Uima-altaan vesi kylmää. Ravintolan ruoka eurooppalaistyylistä ja ok-laatuista. Kalliinpuoleinen, mutta eipä kaupungissa paljon vaihtoehtoja ole. Tämä on kaupungin paras.

Comfortable, quiet stay with all the essentials
I stayed at the Azalaï while in Nouakchott for a multi-week work assignment. I appreciated the design of the rooms: the floor-to-ceiling window between the bathroom and living area lends an open and spacious feel, and there is a good deal of storage provided for clothing and other items. Central AC with in-room thermostats means quiet, customizable climate control - a big plus. If you are staying for more than a week, consider upgrading to an exective room for additional space (including a bigger bathroom/shower) and a nicer layout. The only difference in amenities between the standard and executive rooms (as near as I could tell) was the plush bathrobe provided in the latter. The fitness room, while small, has two treadmills, a recumbent stationary bike, an elliptical machine and an all-in-one weight machine, all in good condition. The restaurant and room service menus are somewhat limited, but they feature a mix of vegetarian, seafood and meat dishes at reasonable prices. Overall, the hotel was quiet, clean and comfortable and a good value, and I would recommend it to business travelers.

“Un excellent hotel à Nouakchott”
Enfin un excellent hotel à Nouakchott, un des meilleurs que j'ai testé cette dernière année. Oublié l'ancien mercure,Mahamat! Bienvenue à Azalai Marhaba, la rénovation est excellente, le design moderne des chambres impeccable TV lcd chaîne satellite, WI-FI et très utile à Nouakchott une climatisation opérationnelle et efficace silencieuse. Pour avoir tant galerer ailleurs Enfin! Côté service bien prévenant. Un autre point qui a été amélioré le restaurant buffet ouvert carte cela fait envie de manger sur place. Attention quand même sur la carte qques absence manque à répétition. Une mise à jour de la brochure l'hôte est à 5 minutes de l'ancien aéroport qui est maintenant fermé, le nouvel aéroport étant loin de la ville et à l'opposé il faut compter 35/45mn. Navette disponible
