This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had.
The room was filthy. The sheets looked like they hadn’t been washed at all—like the bed had just been made without actually changing them. There was hair and visible stains on the bed, which is completely unacceptable. The entire room smelled strongly of cigarettes, even though it was supposed to be non-smoking.
The bathroom door was broken, and overall cleanliness was just terrible. It got to the point where we didn’t feel comfortable using anything in the room—we actually left and went out to buy our own sheets, blankets, pillows, and pillowcases just to get through the night. We also purchased disinfectant and wiped down and sprayed everything in the room ourselves just to feel somewhat protected from germs or illness.
On top of that, there was constant noise. People in the room above us were yelling and fighting, making it impossible to relax.
The most alarming part was safety. I am a woman who was staying alone with my 12-year-old daughter, which made this even more concerning. We made sure to lock everything—the regular lock, the deadbolt, and the bar lock. Early in the morning, someone knocked and then actually opened the door. The only thing that stopped them from coming in was the bar lock. When I yelled, they said, “Oh sorry, I thought it was open.” That doesn’t make sense—the deadbolt cannot be opened with a key card, which means they had a physical key. That is extremely concerning.
