"We stayed at Poppin Hotel in Amsterdam and overall had a good experience. The location is great, it’s easy to get around, and both the food and service were genuinely good. The staff are friendly, and the room felt clean and well maintained, with housekeeping every other day.
The room itself is quite small and compact, but if you’re not planning to spend much time there, it works just fine. That said, there are no windows, which is worth being aware of. We also missed having something as simple as a shoe rack, as shoes and suitcases quickly take over the already limited floor space.
That said, the sound insulation… or lack of it… deserves its own mention. At times it felt like there was very little separation between rooms. You can hear surprisingly small things, like someone unplugging a charger or doors opening in the hallway, which unfortunately means you also wake up to it. It didn’t just affect our sleep, it also took away that sense of calm and privacy you usually expect in a hotel room. Especially as this was our honeymoon, that part was a bit disappointing.
Another small but noticeable issue is the grout between the bathroom tiles, which is quite dirty. The room itself feels clean overall, but this detail stands out more than it should. I’d honestly recommend bringing slippers for the shower, just to stay on the safe side.
All in all, a hotel with a lot going for it, especially the location and staff, but a few things that, if improved, would make a big difference"
