A short walk to a local restaurant and store, yet feels worlds away. Ideal for outdoor lovers seeking a serene mountain escape.

We respect your privacy and aim to provide a seamless, independent stay. Our team is available via the app or phone if you need anything during your visit, but we will not be present at the property unless assistance is required.

Our street is private so there is no through traffic. You are very close to great hiking and biking trails as well as area Linville and Newland amenities.

You will have full and private access to the entire cabin and its surrounding property during your stay. Enjoy your own private mountain getaway.

* **Private Entrance:** The entire space is yours to enjoy without interruption.
* **Security Note:** For your security, a camera is located on the exterior of the front door. It is only accessed if a problem occurs.

Welcome to your cozy cabin retreat, hosted by Flying Squirrel Cottages! This intimate space is your perfect basecamp for adventures in the stunning Linville and Wilson Gorges or for simply unwinding in serene nature. The cabin comfortably sleeps up to five guests.

**Inside, you'll find:**
* An inviting living room with a beautiful stone fireplace.
* A TV and a selection of board games for entertainment.
* A dedicated workspace for those needing to stay connected.
* Sleeping for 5: A stow-away cot is available for the fifth guest, which is quite comfortable and sized for someone up to 6' tall.

**Outside, enjoy your private mountain oasis:**
* A spacious deck to enjoy the fresh mountain air.
* A BBQ grill for cooking up an evening meal.
* A fire pit for gathering and storytelling under the stars.
* A private hot tub for a relaxing soak after a day of exploring.

Directions to the cottage are provided via the Hostfully guidebook provided electronically 3 days prior to your stay.

A few important details to ensure a smooth and enjoyable stay:

* **Check-in/Check-out:** Due to our team's detailed cleaning process, which requires the full turnover window, we are unable to accommodate requests for early check-in or late check-out. Thank you for your understanding.

* **Hot Tub:** Our hot tub is serviced weekly by a certified technician. While it is generally in very good condition, its availability cannot be guaranteed. If an issue arises between service visits, our local technician can typically address it within 24 hours.

* **Coffee & Comfort:** A combination drip-style and pod coffee maker is available for your use, and we provide ground coffee to get you started. Pro tip: Toss a pair of bedroom shoes in your bag for the walk to and from the hot tub on cool evenings!

We had a great stay at Mamaw's Cabin! The place was perfect for our party of 3 and our dog and had everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. The hot tub was a great way to finish the day after spending hours hiking the amazing scenery of the area, in particular the trails around the Linville Gorge. Another BIG bonus was being just 2 minutes away from Linville Falls Winery. Cell phone signal is non-existent around the cabin so make sure to plan your routes ahead of time while connected to their Wi-Fi. We'd definitely be coming back!

Adorable mountain cottage

This little cottage is everything it states! Super cute, romantic, quiet stay with my husband. The hot tub on the private porch is awesome! It is right in the heart of Linville and super easy to find.

Peaceful Week

My girlfriend and I brought my dog on this trip and we all had a blast. It was super peaceful and relaxing just to sit out on the covered back porch and take in the wilderness. There’s also a lot to do in the area and the hosts were fast to respond. I couldn’t recommend this place enough.

Beautiful Setting

This cabin is perfectly located for hiking and visiting wineries and not too far from great shopping and restaurants. The house is very comfortable and has a wonderful covered back porch right up in the trees, which was where we hung out when we were not out and about.

No WiFi at all and needs repairs

Good location, but very disappointing that the Wi-Fi did not work at all the entire time (Mother's Day weekend so we could not reach family unless we drove up to the local Vineyard and used their Wi-Fi ). Note that there is no cell signal in this area. A number of repairs are needed: The hot tub filter cap did not fit and was sucking air making very loud noises all day and night. Both toilets were leaking and they had stuffed towels behind them on the floor instead of fixing. The bathroom showerhead sprayed water at the ceiling and we had to repair this ourselves. The double bed mattress was very old and sunk down the middle.

Highland Festival weekend

The property was largely as advertised, however it was more pet amenable than pet friendly. There was no real place to walk dogs given there was no year and the road was rock. The stay would have been fine overall but the cottage had an overt German cockroach issue in the kitchen and the property manager did not respond to our e-mails regarding this issue until after our stay was over. Manager did reply after we left that the issue would be addressed.

If you are a hiker, the property is conveniently located near several attractive hiking trails. There is little else to do, although mountain towns and the Blue Ridge Parkway are very close for scenic drives. Wineries and a few restaurants are 30-45 minutes away along with the entrance to Grandfather Mountain Park. The cottage was very well equipped with dishes and glassware, cooking utensils and food staples. Beds were comfortable with lots of extra blankets available. We utilized the firepit, but not the spa, although it appeared to be in good condition. The interior of the cottage is aging, although well cared for. Heat is supplied with a gas log fireplace, which were a little frustrating to use, but once figured out, kept the cottage at a comfortable temperature. We appreciated the ceiling fans and lighting in every room. The major drawback was the lack of consistent internet availability. Although internet was available in the morning, there was insufficient bandwidth for streaming TV, and no possibility to use phones to plan activities in the evening for the following day. The owner has published a disclaimer about internet, but it's buried at the end of a lengthy description. To conclude, the cottage was a nice, quiet place to get away from everything. Great little cabin!

The cabin was just as described if not better! There was a nice big private back deck with a table and chairs along with a grill. There was even a leash hookup so our dog could enjoy the outdoors with us. The hot tub was nice and we really enjoyed the fire pit. The beds were super comfortable. Very nice place. I would definitely recommend it!

This was a wonderful woodland retreat (and easy to locate). Super quiet and it had everything and more that we needed. The host provided the check- in information in a timely manner with lots of contact phone numbers if we had a question. Will absolutely return.

Great location

Beautiful cabin with a great location. Our only challenge was that the town basically closes down for the winter after Thanksgiving (which we didn’t know) and if restaurants and shops are open it’s usually Thursday - Saturday. We stayed Sunday - Tuesday. But the cabin was great! Easy to get to and excellent location. Cam was great and easy to work with. Excellent communication throughout the process. We will be back!
