Overall, Odette’s is a beautifully appointed hotel right on the Delaware River. Our room was clean, well-decorated, and very comfortable. The restaurant and bar on site were excellent and added to the overall experience.
However, on the last night of our stay, a wedding was taking place directly beneath our room (we were on the second floor). You could hear every song the DJ played — the bass was so loud our room was literally vibrating for several hours. We’re all for a good wedding celebration, but given the price point we we’re really hoping for a relaxing evening.
When we mentioned the noise at checkout, the front desk associate was kind enough to comp our valet parking for the weekend, which we appreciated. That said, she mentioned that this happens frequently and explained that when booking through Expedia they are limited in room assignments. She also suggested calling ahead in the future to ask if a wedding is scheduled that weekend. That was a bit surprising — it feels like guests shouldn’t have to proactively check for major events that could significantly impact their stay.
To make matters more uncomfortable, a manager (who never came out to speak with us directly) could be heard loudly reprimanding an employee in the back office area, which wasn’t the best way to end the experience.
It’s truly a nice property, and we understand weddings are an important revenue stream. If you’re looking for a quiet weekend ask not to be above their event space. Disappointing
