Lake James Country-style House - Deep Cove, Pool, Screen Porch, Kayaks & SUP!

Located in a gated communicate on Lake James, Newman’s Nook is a Farmhouse-style lake house on a calm cove, nestled in the Blue Ridge mountain foothills of North Carolina. It offers all amenities you’d hope for along with hand-crafted wood pieces from the property, including the fireplace mantel, shelves, mirrors and dining tables. Situated close to many must-see adventures, see Area Highlights further below.

Lake James is a stunning wonderland for adventure or relaxation. Take in picturesque views, smell fresh lake mountain air, listen to nature’s music and feel the cool, clean water of fabulous Lake James!

Living / Dining Areas:
Newman’s Nook is perfect to share with friends or another family, intentionally designed with two living spaces. Each living room has a large screen TV and lounge seats, ideal for different entertainment preferences. The downstairs living room has a stone, wood-burning fireplace, perfect for winter!

The spacious gourmet kitchen provides everything needed during your stay. For memorable meals, a large indoor dining area comfortably seats 10.

Bedrooms:
An energizing night sleep is everyone’s wish, and Newman’s Nook can sleep 12 comfortably. The downstairs master has a California king-size bed. It’s spacious with a full bath, walk-in closet and offers fantastic sunrise views!

The large upstairs master has a king size bed, full bath, walk-in closet and side room with two additional twin-size beds.

The third upstairs bedroom has two bunk beds with Tempur-Pedic mattresses, sleeping four additional people.

The fourth upstairs room is a game room with pull-out queen-size bed. It can comfortably sleep two.

Outdoor Space:
• Pool: Right next door you'll find a neighborhood pool, fire pit, showers, bathrooms and large shelter (pool typically is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day while the fire pit is available year round). Please treat this common area with respect so we can continue offering it to our guests.

• Screened porch: Seating for 10, this space allows you to enjoy nature’s sights and sounds. Two ceiling fans keep it cool and Edison lights add nice ambiance. Enjoy your morning coffee and breakfast or a fun meal with friends / family. Next to the screened porch is a grilling deck with gas grill.

• Cove and Dock: An easy walk down a gentle slope reveals a deep cove with dock. Have fun jumping off the dock, relaxing on floats, using lake toys or fishing. You can also set up chairs to chill, get some sun and take in the sights of the lake and mountains. If you own a watercraft there's easy navigation to moor your watercraft on the dock. If you’d like to rent a pontoon boat, rentals are available nearby.

• Boathouse: Steps from the dock, it’s filled with various size life jackets and the following to enjoy during your stay FREE:

Area Highlights – Excellent Location for All Seasons!
Newman’s Nook is minutes from Blue Ridge Parkway, Pisgah National Forest, Linville Gorge, Linville Falls, Lake James State Park, Table Rock and Black Mountain. Silver Fork Winery and Whippoorwill Farm brewery are just minutes away! It's also an easy drive to Asheville, Biltmore, Blowing Rock, Boone and other State Parks.

Summer visit? Stay cool in the soothing waters of Lake James or rent a pontoon boat to explore the lake. Visit the lake islands and stop by Lake James beach. Fish from the dock or just enjoy the sun and scenery. Consider visiting multiple local waterfalls.

Fall or Spring visit? A perfect time of year! The water is often warm enough to enjoy. It’s also prime for fishing! Mountain biking trails are nearby and hiking trails are numerous. Popular hikes are to the top of Shortoff Mountain or into the Linville Gorge for majestic views. In the Fall, experience breathtaking beauty with leaves on full display. Enjoy a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Winter visit? A serene time to enjoy snow-topped mountains and the peaceful lake. Feel the warmth of the fireplace after a day of hiking, snow tubing or skiing. Sugar Mountain, Jonas Ridge and Beech Mountain offer these activities close by in Boone, NC.

Also make sure to explore the nearby towns of Morganton and Marion for shopping, micro-breweries, restaurants, antiquing and local arts & crafts.

Lake house

Had a great weekend trip with family and friends. Beautiful well maintained house. Jake always responded very quickly to our questions during our stay. It was nice to have such easy access to the lake as well as the community pool next door.

Family vacation for 10 individuals! Two college girls, two high school girls and our 9 year old! What a wonderful place for them to stay in touch. The deck down by the lake was a huge plus even though the pool is right next door. Several thunderstorms came through during our stay so the enclosed porch was the place to be. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen appliances were complete. The only suggestion we would have was replacing the broom and add a dust pan. Thank you for sharing your home with our family.

Girl's Trip on Lake James

We had a wonderful weekend at Newman's Nook on Lake James. Jake was a terrific host and his home had everything needed to comfortably accommodate our group of 11. The pool is convenient to the home, and the boat house has everything you would need to enjoy the lake.

Wonderful home on Lake James!

My family and I stayed here for almost a week and had a great time! There was a bedroom for everyone, so we didn't feel crowded or cramped. The main floor was spacious with an open floor plan. We really enjoyed sitting on the screened-in porch in the evenings. The home is located right next to the community pool, which was very convenient for our family. The lake is great too; clean water, deep enough for the kids to jump off the dock, and the area was quiet and peaceful. We would definitely stay here again!

Great, Relaxing Vacation Home!!

Interior was exceptionally spacious with simple, but elegant design and decor. Really gorgeous! Definitely room for far more people than we have in our small family, but we knew that when we booked it. Home is within a nice, gated community. Fenced-in pool with fire pit to use immediately next door. Enjoyed it when not out on the lake itself. Somewhat steep hill (definitely manageable with a zig-zag pathway available to use, as needed) down to the floating pier that had a super view of the small bay. Included ladder into water, a deck-side boathouse, kayaks of various sizes with paddles and life vests. Rented a pontoon boat locally for our entire stay and it was great. Easy docking. Lake is beautiful. Fishing slow, but caught a small mouth bass right out front near shore. Independence Day fireworks launched from local park and visible from pier, were the unexpected "cherry on top". Network, TV [streaming], kitchen appliances, and outside gas grill all were easy to use and worked very well. Foosball was fun too! Would LOVE to return to this place in the future in fall to enjoy the colors and cool mountain weather. House was VERY neatly kept. Note: Gave 4 of 5 stars for cleanliness ONLY because garbage cans in storage bins outside home had not been emptied before our arrival. Notified owner before we left, who was thankful to be made aware of situation. It did NOT impact our family of 4 because we made very little trash (2 small bags) during our stay. GREAT VACATION SPOT!!

Truly wonderful!

I vacationed with my son’s family of 5 and my daughter’s family of 5 and we had a fantastic time. Lots of space for everyone, house is immaculate with the most beautiful views of the lake. We brought our boat and the host was very helpful and accommodating in helping find a great secure place to park our boat trailer for the week. The community pool and fire pit right next door were a great addition that the kids and adults loved. I love Lake James and have been coming here my whole life but this time with my family was priceless.

Gorgeous Lakefront Home with privacy while still being fun.

Stayed 5 days at Newman's Nook with an extended family of 9. Quiet but fun area, lots to explore locally for all ages. We rented a boat and tubed for 2 days, hiked Linville Gorge, toured the Biltmore and Blue Ridge Parkway to Mt. Mitchell and whitewater rafted in Bryson City. Excellent area for families and outdoor stuff. Enjoyed the pool next door also. Home was impeccably clean and well appointed. Highly recommend.

Wonderful Gem on Lake James

We were there for the swimrun race that was a 5 minute drive away. The area is very pretty. The property is very well maintained and the house was very clean.

Family vacation

This is our second time vacationing at Newman’s Nook, Could not ask for a better location on Lake James. Love this quaint farmhouse. Spacious for all 10 of us. The kids loved eating on the screened porch and listening to the boats. The pool next door was perfect for the grandkids when we were not on the pontoon boat we rented for the week. Jake was a great host and we look forward to returning next year!

Sweet Family Vacation

Newman’s Nook is the perfect family vacation home. The home exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed having the pool next door and having all the lake activities available from the private dock. Our crew fished from the dock, swam, and used the kayaks. We rented a boat for a couple of days and the convenience of keeping it at the house was really nice. We appreciated all the information and communication from Newmans. It made planning for the trip easy. We hope to return!

Perfect Lake Getaway!

This was the perfect vacation home for our group of 6. The house is so clean and well decorated and had everything we needed to enjoy a few days at the lake. Having two master suites worked well since our grandparents came along, my kids loved the bunk room and all the games in the house, and the location is great for enjoying all that Lake James has to offer. We can't wait to go back!

Great Family Vacay

Newman's Nook was a perfect fit for our family. Everyone had their own family space to sleep. The kitchen was completely stocked and had extras. We brought all our food for the week and the kitchen made it fun to prep. The layout was roomy for all 10 of us. We spent mornings and evenings on the screened porch. Having the pool next door was so convenient with 3 young kids. The dock and extras were so nice. Our 4 yr old grandson got up on skiis and knee board and tubed for the first time. Wonderful memories were made. Thank you!
